After filling our stomachs with enough grapes, we decided to save the water for later. We gradually continued our journey through the forest. We had combed our surroundings for a little while before we found a snake. A huge snake at that.
" It's a Python" Joseph muttered.
Now I was scared of snakes and just stood there, petrified to even move or make a sound.
"Just stay still I got this" Joseph said to me...as if I'd even move an inch of I could that is.
He moved slowly towards the snake and gently tapped it with his arrow.

Now woahhhh that is a lot of points but the snake was still there staring at us, at me and before I could even make a sound, it lunged right at my face. Thank heavens I was quick to react, I reached for my arrow and stabbed it on the belly as I was jumping out of the way. The fast reflex came from where? I definitely didn't know.
Joseph looked impressed as he stared at the now dead snake.

That stopped us dead in our tracks.
I looked at Joseph.
"I thought we didn't have to kill an animal" I almost shouted as my body was still recovering from the shock of seeing and killing the snake.
"Turns out the the killing is worth points than just poking them with the arrows" Joseph replied looking at me.
I hadn't even replied when good for us fell from wherever it came from. This time the bag contained bread, meat, grapes, apples and water.
" The bigger the animal, the bigger the food you get" I said to Joseph.
Now, I didn't want to be a person who brutalized animals but I had just killed a snake, even if I'm scared of them, but I still felt bad. We walked a little away from the spot we saw the snake and sat down to eat.
I don't know for how long we were there.

We didn't have much time, we stood up and continued walking. I was exhausted at this point but we could stop now.
"We need to keep on moving " Joseph said without looking at me.
"But I'm exhausted "
"You definitely won't have the liberty to say that if the game realizes your points are not enough and kills you"
I gulped. I didn't want to die.
I still want to see Kayla and little James and her out of this dimension. I still want to be free. And it was these words, these thoughts that kept me going.
At least we had enough food and water to last us for the last hour of this barbaric game and I wondered for those which had no now and arrow to face the animals to warn points.
We had just crossed a small stream were resting when something moved in the trees in front of us.
" Stay alert" Joseph Warned me "anything can be out there". He couldn't even finish talking when we were attacked by....a person?
This person didn't carry any weapon, he attacked us with sticks and stones.
He attacked Joseph first. He slashed and whipped at Joseph While all I could do was scream. Joseph was a quick and smart man. He was able to dodge the first attack but he didn't see the blow coming. The disheveled excuse of a person had hit him on his head with a stone in hand.
" Noooooo... Josephh!!!" I screamed.
Joseph staggered backwards and slashed at him with an arrow. I just stood there watching the scuffle of the two men.
"Ivory!!" Joseph shouted "Ivory use your how and arrow".
"But I can't" I stuttered.
"You have to or you'll have to watch me die".
Joseph had managed to hold the man at choke hold around his neck.
" Do it"
I took out an arrow and aimed at the man.
Before I could shoot, he had released himself from Joseph's hold and was sprinting towards me.
Josephs voice blurred out and all I could see was the angry face to the men running towards me.
The arrow flew out of my hand and pierced his neck straight on point. Blood gushed out as he fell to the floor. I good above him as I grabbed a broken stick and started stabbing him. I let all the frustration of everything pour out as I stabbed him continuously.
"Ivory... Ivory stopp, stop!!!" Joseph screamed as I clicked back.
I dropped the bloodied stick and fell back with blood all over my face.
" I didn't mean to, I don't know what came over me. I'm sorry" I cried.

Our anklets said at the same time.
I looked at Joseph..
" We were just given points for killing him" I said.
Joseph sales over to the body. " He's a player too"
"So why did he attack us"
"There is something more mysterious going on here. There's more to this than we know" Joseph said looking at me.
"Why did you keep on stabbing him even after he was dead"
" I don't know, I don't know what came over me. I just wanted him dead" I was crying as I said this.
"We were awarded points for killing a player but that was not in the rules of the game!!!" I shouted.
" The rules of the game can change while we're playing it, you should have learned this already from the lady games played".
" I don't want to play anymore" i cried " I just want to find my friend and go home "
" That's not your decision to make Ivory. We need to survive this, we need to survive"
" I just killed a man!!!! I don't think I can live with myself with this ".
"Oh poor Ivory, just what have we gotten ourselves into" Joseph looked at me.
