The man dressed in a white jacket suit and a red waist coat, makes eye contact with him, then after a second he waves his hand like shooing a fly.
An arrow of explosive flames follows the hand. The arrow rushes towards Ray.
He was stunned by the sudden attack. Not just because it came out of nowhere but because he knew who this man is.
He quickly recovers his mind and controls the solar energy around him to create a shield.
The Arrow hit the shield, exploding on impact!
This shatters the shield, throwing Ray back at the same time.
"Hmph. Slow." The man comments.
The attack doesn't end as two more arrows are already going straight for Ray's head!
Ray manages to create another barrier while imbuing his body with solar energy. He jumps back right before the arrows hit him, just narrowly dodging them.
The shockwave from the attack shatters the shield and sends him flying further back.
He creates orbs of solar energy as he goes back and lands ten feet away rolling to his feet as four more arrows of fire as sent after him.
Ray sends his own orbs forward to intercept the arrows.
4 big explosions roared out and the force behind them pushes Ray back some more.
Ray didn't stop there!
He creates 3 orbs of solar energy behind him as he runs to the side trying to slowly close the distance between the two of them.
"Better." The man comments surprised and impressed by Ray's decisiveness.
He decides to show him respect by using more power. He creates twenty large orbs of explosive fire above his head.
Ray sees this and can't help but worry.
This is the power Rowan Solaris the head of the 8th branch and Ray's father.
'Why the hell is he attacking me?!?!' Ray thinks to himself.
Ray isn't in a great position to ask as he hears his father speak.
"Fall." Rowan say calmly and points at Ray.
The many orbs rush towards him like shooting stars.
Ray continues to gather energy in one of the solar orbs, making it grow bigger. The other orbs are being blasted towards some of the explosive orbs in an attempt to make to explode early. He manages to take out 6 orbs before they reach him.
Right before they reach him, Ray uses to energy in the gathering orb to make a shield to defend himself.
boom!*
The orbs crash down leaving scorched earth. The trees and plants not burnt to a crisp are heavily swayed by the explosion.
Ray is sitting on a piece of scorched earth that was surrounded by a crater.
His shield managed to take a large amount of the damage before breaking leaving Ray with only slight burns.
HAHAHA*
A loud laugh rings out.
"I'M VERY IMPRESSED BOY!" Rowan shouts loudly with wide smile on his face.
Ray gets up while sweating profusely.
"Why did you do that!" Ray yells back.
"Oh, wasn't it obvious. I was testing you." Rowan says without a second thought.
"No it very unclear, I thought you were trying to kill me." Ray complains still out of breath.
"If you would have died then you wouldn't be my son. You still have the chance to die early if you continue to talk with me like that." Rowan say almost cheerfully compared to the harsh words.
Suddenly Rebecca dashes over and pushes Ray's head down, making him bow.
"I apologize for my little brother's rudeness, father!" She says quickly and loudly. She shoots a deathly glare over at Ray as if telling him to apologize.
But Ray puts his head up and says some shocking words.
"I don't care if she's sorry, but I am not. No, you should apologize to me for attacking me for your first time seeing your son after so long.
Hearing this, Rowan just laughs. Rebecca instantly gets scared since her father's laugh was never a good thing especially during training.
"I should kill your mother for not teaching you to respect your father." He says nonchalantly. His eyes go cold at the same time, as throw his fist forward to meet the incoming blow.
Ray was enraged by his attitude and even more when he said he would kill his mother without any care.
Arthur is also enraged due to the fact that he lost his mother to a brutal demon when he was young.
Even though it's been so long he could still remember every detail on her face as the demon sent her head rolling.
He asked Ray to take over and unleashes that punch!
Right fist met left palm as Arthur opens his palm to grab the incoming counter attack then in the next second twists his body to send a powerful kick surging with solar energy at Rowan's head.
However he is easily blocked by Rowan's other hand.
Arthur expected this however and lifts his free palm then quickly aims a solar beam at Rowan's head.
Rowan is equally quick to react and grips down on Ray's leg, throwing him away.
Arthur fires right as he is thrown causing him to miss and only leave a burned cut on Rowan's cheek.
Rebecca is surprised to see this happen as most of her siblings could never hope to land a hit on him, let alone the youngest.
'This young boy has managed to cut me!' Rowan first thinks as he shows an amused grin.
'My son managed to cut someone many ranks above him.' This is Rowan's second thought.
Then he starts to speak while Ray stops himself from flying further away.
"I will attack three more times and if you can survive you can be considered forgiven and your mother will be left alive." Rowan offers with a amused look.
"What if I manage to hit you again?" Arthur questions burning with rage.
"You will be allowed to continue your training here, instead of going with me like your other siblings." Rowan says halfheartedly not expecting it to happen but growing slightly amused by his son's arrogance.
"Let's begin." Rowan says as he raises his left hand to create spikes below Arthur.
He jumps to evade them as they broke through the ground. Arthur barely has any time to act as a large orb of explosive flame is created above him.
He quickly condensed solar energy under his feet into small platforms he could step on and ran forward to dodge the orb of explosive flame that descended.
However Arthur was running out of mana since his natural absorption couldn't keep up with his use.
This doesn't faze him as he quickly comes up with a plan.
As the orb hits the ground a large explosion rings out followed by blast wind. Arthur uses the blast wave to propel himself forward.
He throws a punch with his left fist towards Rowan who punches out with his left fist as well.
As the punches are about to collide Arthur opens his hand. Rowan expected this again so he stops his punch halfway through.
This is what Arthur was counting on. He uses all the mana he has left to release a blinding light.
This unexpected attack successfully blinds Rowan!
He quickly twists his body and uses the momentum to release a powerful final attack.
SLAP*
Arthur used his right hand to back hand slap Rowan across the face!
Rowan slightly turns his head as a reaction to the hit while Arthur falls to the ground panting. He had used up all his mana and all the strength in his body.
Rowan recovers his sight and looks down at Arthur who is on his his hands and knees exhausted.
Rowan crouches down and delivers a light chop to Arthur's neck which causes him to completely collapse to the ground and fall unconscious.
"That was my fourth attack.... Good job." Rowan says quieter than usual as he picks Ray up and puts him over his shoulder.
Rebecca's expressionless as she couldn't believe what just happened.
