Chapter 72 - 72. Family Invitation

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Lin Yixiong standing there waiting for her.

It seemed like he was holding something in his hand.

Lin Shengxia frowned slightly and stopped walking without making a sound.

"Go inside and talk." He lowered his eyes and spoke in a flat tone.

As soon as the door closed, Lin Yixiong threw the things he was holding onto the table.

Lin Shengxia looked down and was surprised to see that it was an invitation to the Gu family's dinner party.

"For so many years, the Gu family and our Lin family have been like oil and water. Now they're taking the initiative to invite us to a banquet. Is there something fishy going on?"

Lin Yixiong spoke suspiciously, as if the person standing in front of him was not his daughter who hadn't come home last night, but simply a work partner.

Lin Shengxia did not answer him, and draped her coat aside.

"I'm asking you a question!" Lin Yixiong looked at his daughter with displeasure. Fu Wenwen had been crying all night yesterday, and it took Fu Wanyi a long time to calm her down.

As soon as I saw the invitation this morning, I insisted on going.

"If even my father can't see it, how much could I possibly know?" Lin Shengxia's words carried a hint of sarcasm.

"You! I'll take Wanyi and Wenwen with me, so you don't need to go! You've already embarrassed yourself enough!" Lin Yixiong's head ached just thinking about Lin Shengxia's premarital pregnancy!

Lin Shengxia curled her lips into a cold smile.

How could she possibly perform in this wonderful show that was specially prepared for her?

"If there's nothing else, I need to get to work."

Her voice carried an insurmountable distance; Lin Shengxia had long since given up all hope for this father.

How could Lin Yixiong not understand the meaning of the order to leave?

His face turned ashen instantly, and he turned and slammed the door shut as he left.

Throughout the entire process, Lin Shengxia never raised her head.

Bright sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows onto the gleaming marble floor of the airport terminal, and the air in T City was exceptionally fresh after the rain.

A girl, pulling a suitcase and wearing oversized sunglasses, walked out with an air of arrogance.

Her pretty perm made her face look especially youthful, her lips were tightly pursed under her delicate nose, and her luxurious GUCCI mini skirt highlighted her beautiful figure. It was obvious at a glance that this girl came from a wealthy family.

He kept glancing at the diamond-encrusted watch on his wrist, looking impatient.

"Miss, I'm sorry, I'm late!" The young man walked over in a panic.

Without hesitation, the girl threw her handbag into the man's arms, even deliberately hitting him in the face.

"Don't you want to do it anymore? You're a full five minutes late!" The girl took off her sunglasses, and her face was so beautiful it would turn heads.

"I'm so sorry, miss, I really didn't mean to!"

For the sake of their jobs, drivers have no choice but to endure it.

The woman walked in front, with the driver following behind. But when they arrived at the airport entrance, she changed her mind.

"Where's the car? You're not stopping it at the door, are you expecting me to walk there? I'm exhausted from a long flight!" The woman's bad temper drew frequent attention from the passengers nearby, but she seemed unconcerned.

"I'll drive over right away."

Fortunately, the driver had a good temper; if it had been someone else, they probably would have quit long ago.

He took his phone, covered in rhinestones, out of his bag, and it shone brightly in the sunlight.

Her fingers moved quickly, and she typed out a line of text on the keyboard in no time.

"Brother, I'm back!"
