After leaving a thoroughly stifled Aidan behind, Micah and Clyde walked toward the edge of the auction hall, waving through the crowd, trying not to engage with any more enthusiastic guests.
They had barely made it into the quieter hallway when Clyde finally spoke, his tone light, amused, and unmistakably entertained.
"Got it out of your system?"
Micah snorted softly and turned his face away, the ends of his earrings brushing against his neck as he walked. His lips curved just slightly, betraying him. He crossed his arms, posture casual, as if he hadn't just verbally nuked someone in public five minutes ago.
"Tch. You say it like I threw a tantrum," Micah muttered.
Clyde slowed his steps, glancing sideways at him. The corners of his mouth lifted. "You didn't?" He tilted his head. "Because from where I was standing, it looked very… enthusiastic."
Micah shot him a look. "Excuse me. I was exercising restraint."
