Chapter 4 - Demon Jack Carter!!

After leaving that place, Kevin was walking alone on a deserted road in the heavy rain. Tears were streaming from his eyes, and only old memories were flashing through his mind— their first meeting, the first time Karishma smiled, their friendship, and all the fun moments they had shared.

Kevin was so lost in these memories that he didn't even realize he had reached a bridge under which a large river was flowing. When Kevin looked at the river, it seemed like a TV screen to him, playing memories of the moments he had spent with Karishma.

As he kept looking at the river, his heart was sinking under the weight of pain. But just then, the white light in his chest started flickering again, making Kevin alert. His eyes scanned his surroundings, and that's when he noticed a boy riding a bike towards him on the bridge.

When Kevin focused on the biker, his eyes narrowed, and he muttered to himself, "What is Jack Carter doing here?" After saying this, he wiped his tears and kept watching Jack Carter.

Jack stopped about 20 meters away and looked at Kevin with a predator's gaze. Then, stepping off his bike dramatically, he said, "Oh! Oh! You were so easy to find!"

When Kevin heard this, he asked directly, "You were looking for me? But why?"

"But why, how, what—forget all that! Just give me your life today and let me claim my reward!" Jack said, waving his hand. Hearing this, Kevin was shaken.

But the next moment, he thought, What's left to live for anyway? The more I live, the more I'll suffer… because without Karishma, what even is my existence?

Just then, Jack charged toward Kevin to attack. His punch was glowing with a faint blue light, and it seemed a thousand times stronger than that of an ordinary person. The force of it was so immense that the river beneath the bridge began forming waves.

Seeing this, Kevin was stunned. It was the first time he had witnessed something like this. He didn't know what Jack was doing, but he understood one thing—Jack was definitely not an ordinary human.

Jack had a proud smile on his face as his punch neared Kevin. Kevin, frozen in place, felt as if he had been trapped in a block of ice. He accepted his fate—if that punch landed, he would be blown to pieces. Yet, he didn't close his eyes; he wanted to witness his own death.

Jack was pleased, knowing he was about to kill Kevin and claim his reward. But just as his punch was about to land, a burst of white light erupted from Kevin's chest and struck Jack, sending him flying far away. The same hand he had tried to attack with was now broken.

Kevin's eyes widened as he looked at his chest, where the white light had emerged. His head was spinning, but then his eyes gleamed with excitement. He turned to look at Jack, who had fallen far away.

With a smile, Kevin said, "Looks like this power not only alerts me of danger but also teaches my enemies a lesson! That means I have a powerful weapon now!" His heart swelled with excitement.

Jack got up and looked at Kevin. Then, with a jerk, he dislocated his own broken hand from his body. Kevin was speechless. Jack then glanced at a black ring on his other hand, and the next moment, a new hand emerged from the ring and attached itself to his body.

Kevin rubbed his eyes ten times, but the scene remained the same. He was truly scared now. How is this even possible? Removing and attaching a hand without surgery—Is he a human or a robot?

Ignoring Kevin's shock, Jack finished his task and gave a sly smile. "As the Demon King Akuma Ryujin said… capturing the one with the Divine Fire is going to be very difficult! Today, I finally believe he was right. But even if I have to give up my life, I will kill you, Kevin!"

Kevin was confused. "What is Divine Fire? And who did you just mention… King Akuma Ryujin? Who is he? Forget that—who are you?"

Jack laughed and said, "You can ask all those questions yourself when I take your soul to him after killing you!"

Saying this, Jack charged at Kevin again, but the white light repelled him once more. This happened 19 times. Kevin was getting bored, while Jack's anger kept growing.

Gritting his teeth, Jack said, "I have no choice but to use my Burning Lamp weapon!"

Kevin didn't understand what he meant, but he knew something big was about to happen. Jack pulled out an unusual-looking lamp from his ring and placed it on his palm.

As soon as it touched his hand, a strange glow appeared in the lamp. Jack then began pouring his spiritual energy into it. The surrounding energy was drawn toward the lamp, and moments later, it ignited.

As soon as the lamp burned, the weather changed—hot winds started blowing, the river began boiling, and nearby trees caught fire. It felt as if the sun itself was descending upon the earth.

Seeing this, Kevin shivered and thought, So this is the Burning Lamp! It's incredibly powerful… which means I'm going to be roasted alive!

"No! No! I have to do something!" he muttered, then looked at his chest. "Will this white light listen to me? It has to—it's inside my body! If it doesn't follow my command, whose will it follow?"

Looking down, he said, "White light, create a protective shield around me!"

As soon as he spoke, the white light emerged from his chest and surrounded him in an egg-shaped barrier. Kevin was thrilled. For a moment, he forgot all the pain and betrayal he had just experienced.

Jack noticed this too but didn't stop. Behind him, a gigantic flame-like figure began forming. As soon as it fully emerged, the river dried up, the ground turned black, and Jack's eyes glowed with fire.

From the flaming figure, two massive fireballs formed. Seeing them, Kevin panicked but trusted his white light and stood firm.

Jack launched the fireballs straight at Kevin. Kevin clenched his fists, preparing himself. The fireballs hit his protective shield, and a deafening explosion followed. Even Jack was thrown back by the blast.

Yet, despite the impact, a grin appeared on Jack's face as he looked toward the explosion site.

Thick smoke filled the air, and cracks began forming on the bridge. Jack laughed, "At last, we've killed our greatest enemy! Now, no one can stand against us! Demon King, I have—"

Before he could finish, his face turned pale.

Because emerging from the smoke, completely unharmed, was Kevin—casually dusting off his hands, looking straight at Jack with a mocking expression.

Kevin himself was surprised at the immense power within him. But more than shocked, he was thrilled.

Meanwhile, Jack was losing his mind. He had used more than half of his strength in that attack, and now only one option remained. The very thought of it made his hands tremble, but he told himself, You have to do it, Jack! If you kill him today, even at the cost of your life, the demons will remember you for eternity.

Summoning all his courage, Jack looked at Kevin and declared, "Even if I die today… you're not leaving here alive either!"

As soon as Jack Carter finished speaking, he began chanting a strange mantra. His body slowly started levitating, and Kevin had no idea what was happening.

Actually, Kevin didn't understand anything about what was happening to him since the beginning, but one thing was certain—he was enjoying his newfound white light power.

While Kevin was still lost in his excitement, Jack had risen high into the air. He reached into his ring and pulled out a dagger—an eerie weapon with a terrifying demon's face engraved on it. Just looking at it sent chills down Kevin's spine.

Kevin observed closely, trying to figure out what Jack was planning. And then—Jack did something unthinkable.

Without hesitation, he plunged the dagger straight into his own throat!

Kevin's breath hitched, his eyes widened in shock, and for a moment, his body refused to move. Then, Jack turned his gaze towards the sky and roared—

"CALL OF BLOOD!"

As soon as these words left his mouth, the ground beneath them trembled violently. Even Kevin's protective shield, made of white light, shook as if struck by an invisible force.

Then, from the stormy sky, a crimson light shot down, striking Jack's body directly.

BOOM!

Jack's body exploded into countless pieces in an instant—but his blood remained in place. The floating crimson liquid pulsed with an eerie glow, taking on a humanoid shape.

A vortex of energy swirled around it, and the blood shimmered like a radiant gemstone. Slowly, its size grew... 10 meters... 20 meters... 50 meters... 100 meters!

Kevin's heart pounded as his white-light barrier trembled under the immense pressure. His breaths became ragged as he muttered,

"Is this the Call of Blood… or the call of my death?"

Before he could react, the towering blood figure began shifting. Its form twisted and contorted until it transformed into a massive, venomous crimson serpent!

The moment it took its final shape, a terrifying pressure erupted from it. Kevin's white-light barrier cracked under the weight of its aura. Thin fractures spread like spiderwebs across the shield—

And then—

CRACK!

Like a fragile glass sphere, Kevin's protective barrier shattered completely!
