"Who's Carlos?" Aisha asked suddenly when Karmen mentioned his name.
They were sitting together on the couch in her house, watching a television show. Aisha had been leaning comfortably against Karmen, her head resting on his shoulder.
Karmen kept his eyes on the television for a moment before answering.
"Carlos is a sorcerer."
Aisha immediately lifted her head and turned to look at him, surprise clear on her face.
"But… we don't allow such beings around us," she said in shock. "What is he doing here?"
Karmen gave a small smile at her reaction.
"Aisha, that rule doesn't apply anymore," he explained. "And even if it did, Carlos earned his place here a long time ago."
He adjusted slightly on the couch as he continued.
"He has done more for Gabriel and Amelie than most people ever could. They managed to defeat a powerful dark witch because of Carlos and his grandmother."
"A dark witch?" Aisha repeated, raising her eyebrows. "What did she do?"
