Chapter 171 - Chapter 169: Patterns

When Baili Pangpang saw that it was Molly, his eyes lit up and he nodded repeatedly.

Another female soldier took Molly's hand, and Molly then took Baili Pangpang's hand. The three of them silently retreated towards the wall. A ripple spread across the wall, and their figures disappeared into it.

After passing through the wall, Baili Pangpang arrived at the balcony of a dormitory room. Just as he was about to say something, Molly still covered his mouth tightly and shook her head at him.

Thump—Thump—Thump—!

On the other side of the wall, heavy footsteps and the sound of dragging heavy objects grew closer and closer. It stopped in front of the wall where the three were hiding, as if sensing something.

Baili Pangpang seemed to realize something, held his breath, and stood motionless in place. Molly and the other female soldier did the same.

A moment later, the sound rang out again, slowly moving into the distance...

Only after confirming that it had gone far away did Molly slowly release her hand from Baili Pangpang's mouth. Baili Pangpang blinked, seemingly with some regret and a lingering feeling...

"Are you trying to die by shouting so loudly?" Molly looked at Baili Pangpang and, thinking of his stupid behavior of yelling at the top of his lungs, scolded him in a low voice.

Baili Pangpang said, sounding aggrieved, "How was I supposed to know I couldn't make a sound... By the way, what exactly was that thing?"

"Mysterious, the mystery of the 'Chuan' realm." Molly's expression gradually turned serious. "We call it [The Sound Hunter]."

"[The Sound Hunter]?"

"A sound hunter automatically traces the source of a sound, and the louder the surrounding noise, the stronger it becomes."

"You know so much about this?"

Molly glanced at him, remained silent for a moment, and then slowly spoke: "This intelligence was obtained at the cost of more than a dozen sisters..."

Baili Pangpang was taken aback.

"We don't know when this mystery appeared. Most of us were still asleep at the time. Later, someone was the first to discover its existence and screamed. Instantly, it was cut in half by the Sound Hunter."

"But the scream also woke up the others, and then everyone discovered this mysterious creature. At the time, we didn't understand its patterns and rushed at it. It wasn't until more than a dozen of our sisters died in battle that we understood its killing mechanism."

"Fortunately, there was a girl named Zhang Xiaoxiao whose Forbidden Realm allowed her to use mental links to connect the thoughts of multiple people and communicate across distances. Therefore, we quickly quieted down and began communicating using our thoughts."

"It was then that we discovered the quieter the sound, the weaker it was. Just as we were preparing to use sound to try and kill it, the surrounding space began to distort, and we were forcibly separated."

Baili Pangpang's face was somewhat pale. "You mean... there really were more than a dozen new recruits who died in battle? But wasn't this supposed to be an exercise?"

"An exercise?" Molly sneered. "When you witness that mysterious killer with your own eyes, when you see your familiar comrades being cut in half at the waist, would you still think it's an exercise?"

"What kind of exercise would cost more than a dozen lives?"

A chilling killing intent flashed in Molly's eyes. "I will... I will kill that mysterious being with my own hands!"

Baili Pangpang was silent for a moment, then asked, "So what do we do now?"

"Come with me." Molly grabbed Baili Pangpang's wrist again, nodded to the female soldier beside her, and the female soldier led the two through more than a dozen walls, finally arriving at the boiler room.

This should be the largest room in the entire three buildings. Originally, it was on the far right of the first floor, where the new recruits would get hot water. The size of this room is equivalent to three rooms put together.

In this vast space, dozens of female soldiers are now sitting on the ground. They are divided into three groups, each holding a drawing board, seemingly recording something. Everyone remains silent, their movements light, as if they can communicate with each other with just a glance.

Baili Pangpang was stunned by this strange scene.

Molly gestured to one of the girls, and the next moment a faint light emanated from the girl's fingertip. Immediately afterwards, a cacophony of sounds erupted from Baili Pangpang's mind, as if headphones were being put directly into his head, the sound crystal clear.

"No, no, when Molly was scouting, she said that next to room 46 isn't a dormitory room, but a corridor that's been rotated 90 degrees."

"Sister Ling, the room layout map for Zone 5 is almost finished. Could you see if it can be pieced together with the map for Zone 4?"

"Show me that overall map from ten minutes ago. I think I understand something now..."

"Yes! It's a 90-degree rotation! The original cross-section there was rotated 270 degrees, so it's upside down..."

"..."

Even though no one present made a sound, Baili Pangpang could clearly hear their discussion, a truly strange feeling.

"This is Zhang Xiaoxiao's mental link. We can communicate directly with our thoughts. However, the forbidden area is not very large, and it can only cover the two surrounding rooms." Molly's voice rang in Baili Pangpang's mind.

"What are they doing?"

"Draw a real-time spatial distribution map of the three buildings." Molly's gaze fell on the busy crowd. "The mysterious entity controlling the space and the Sound Hunter have joined forces. We've tried to kill the Sound Hunter several times before, but each time we were about to succeed, the space was disrupted. So we're trying to find the pattern between each spatial disruption..."

"Xiaoling's Forbidden Ruins allow her to move freely regardless of the terrain, so she and I acted as scouts, roaming through all the rooms and then returning to tell them the room numbers and order. They were responsible for drawing, collecting, and summarizing."

Baili Pangpang's eyes widened. "So fierce? How did you guys come up with that?"

"Everyone has their strengths. Among our female soldiers, there are strategists like the Lin twin." Molly's gaze fell on the girl sitting in the center of the group, deep in thought, staring at the several blueprints laid out before her. A hint of pride appeared in her eyes.

"Thanks to Azi for always directing us, she was the first to discover the killer mechanism of the Sound Hunters, she also found this place, and she was the one who proposed finding the patterns of spatial changes."

"However, while Lin Qiye excels in both deduction and combat, Azi is not; she is only suited to be a pure strategist."

"Did you find it?" Baili Pangpang asked curiously."Azi said, it'll be soon."

In the crowd, Azi sat in the center of a dense array of blueprints, holding two distribution blueprints from different time periods for comparison, her eyes shining even brighter.

Suddenly, as if she had just thought of something, she sat up abruptly from the ground.

"I understand!" Azi gripped the blueprints tightly, her eyes filled with excitement. "I know the pattern of how the space dissipates each time!"
