Chapter 49 - Chapter 48: Not Again?!

No. 2 Middle School.

As the school bell rang, groups of high school students walked out of the school gate, chatting and laughing as they headed out.

"Sigh, so much homework again today, it'll be past 11 o'clock again..."

"Exactly! That idiot teacher assigned 12 reading comprehension passages! Is he trying to kill us all?"

"Reading comprehension isn't something you can just write randomly?"

"How can I just write anything?"

"If there are three long and one short, choose the short one; if there are three short and one long, choose the long one; if the lengths are uneven, choose C; if there are two options, choose D."

"...Wait a minute, let me write this down!"

"..."Suddenly, a student turned around and said to Li Yifei, who was trailing behind:

"Li Yifei, why are you so slow? Hurry up!"

Li Yifei snapped out of his daze, "Oh, they're here, they're here."

He quickened his pace to catch up with the group, still constantly looking around, somewhat absent-minded.

"What's wrong? What are you looking for?" Wang Liang asked, puzzled.

Li Yifei hesitated for a moment, then sighed, "After what happened before, I've developed a phobia of going home after school... Even though there's no evening self-study now and it's still daylight, I still feel... creeped out!"

Wang Liang rolled his eyes. "It's just running into a murderer, why make such a fuss? Li Yifei, you look so big and tough, how come you're such a coward?"

"That's not true... Sigh, never mind, it's hard to explain to you." Li Yifei shook his head.

Then, as if he had thought of something, he suddenly stopped.

"What's wrong now?"

"I suddenly remembered that I didn't bring my homework; it's still in my desk drawer in the classroom," Li Yifei said, sounding a bit annoyed.

"Look at your brain, it's already slow, and now it's even less effective... Luckily the school isn't closed yet, hurry back and get it, I'm going with them first."

Wang Liang, carrying his bag, waved to Li Yifei, then turned and left with the others.

Li Yifei sighed on the spot and turned to walk towards the school.

When he returned to the school gate, twenty minutes had passed since school ended, and most of the students had already left, leaving the school deserted.

"Luckily, the door wasn't closed yet," Li Yifei muttered to himself, and quickly ran into the school.

The campus at dusk was quieter and less lively than usual.

Every now and then, students who had been cleaning would come out of the classroom, check the time, and run quickly toward the gate, brushing past Li Yifei who was coming back against the flow of traffic.

They were all eager to go home and have a hot dinner at home.

As Li Yifei walked further, fewer and fewer people appeared, and the twilight deepened.

The tall trees on both sides of the road rustled in the wind, and the last rays of sunlight, about to sink behind the western mountains, peeked through the leaves, growing dimmer and dimmer...

Li Yifei hurriedly ran to the front of the senior high school building, took two steps at a time, ran up to the fourth floor, and arrived at the door of his classroom.

In the empty corridor, besides the dim twilight, only Li Yifei was there.

By this time, most of the students who were cleaning had left, and even the classroom door was locked.

However, this was no challenge for Li Yifei. He skillfully opened the window, put down his schoolbag, and climbed over the windowsill with both hands.

"Workbook, workbook, workbook...Found it!" Li Yifei rummaged around on his desk for a while, pulled out a notebook, and his eyes lit up.

He stuffed the notebook into his bag, went to the window, and prepared to flip it out in the same way.

Just then, two figures suddenly appeared at the end of the corridor.

When Li Yifei caught sight of them out of the corner of his eye, his body stiffened, and he quickly crouched down, hiding behind the tiles under the window.

"What kind of bad luck is this, running into the head of student affairs?" Li Yifei cursed under his breath.

The two people walking from the end of the corridor were Liu Xiaoyan, their class's Chinese language representative, and their senior year's dean of students.

Sneaking into the classroom through the window after school is easy to be misunderstood. If the head teacher finds out, there will be no way to explain yourself, and you'll be in deep trouble.

So Li Yifei stayed close to the wall, intending to wait until the two left before he left.

The two chatted as they approached the classroom where Li Yifei was hiding. Gradually, Li Yifei could clearly hear their conversation.

"...Therefore, you must really focus on improving your class's Chinese language skills and select the student with the best writing ability to participate in the city-wide competition."

"I understand, Director. There are quite a few people in our class who write well, for example…"

As the two walked, the director seemed to get tired and stopped, resting his hands on the railing of the corridor.

Liu Xiaoyan also stopped and continued talking next to the head of the teaching department.

Their location happened to be right at the doorway of the classroom where Li Yifei was hiding!

Li Yifei saw this scene through the reflection in the window, rolled his eyes helplessly, and simply sat down on the spot, waiting for the two of them to leave.

"Yes, what you said is all correct. Call them to my office tomorrow, and I'll have a talk with them." The head of the teaching department nodded in satisfaction, turned to Liu Xiaoyan, and prepared to leave.

"Director!" Liu Xiaoyan suddenly called out, stopping the director.

The director turned around, looking at her with a puzzled expression. "Is there anything else, Liu Xiaoyan?"

As dusk fell, a faint blush appeared on Liu Xiaoyan's face, and she inexplicably became shy and awkward.

"Director, actually, actually I... I've always wanted to tell you..."

Li Yifei, who was hiding to the side, stared wide-eyed, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets, his eyes filled with shock!

Holy crap!

I just came back to pick up my homework, and what the hell did I see?!

Liu Xiaoyan actually has a crush on the director?!

But, but the director is almost fifty! And he's balding!Does she have such unusual tastes?

The head of the teaching department, standing in front of Liu Xiaoyan, frowned more and more deeply.

"Actually, I... I've always wanted to...think...I'll eat you!"

As she uttered the last three words, Liu Xiaoyan's mouth split open in a startling arc, as if it had been ripped open! Revealing sharp teeth that looked like barbs!

Her pupils had disappeared, leaving only the whites of her eyes, making her look incredibly eerie! And the dimples on her cheeks still glowed with an unsettling wine-red hue in the twilight…

The head of discipline stared wide-eyed, instinctively opening his mouth as if to scream!

The next moment, Liu Xiaoyan's entire head burst open from where her mouth was! Countless sharp teeth emitted a chilling glint!

This mouth is so big, it could easily fit a whole living person inside!

So, almost instantly, that gaping maw swallowed the headmaster whole, his flesh writhing and twisting inside, a truly nauseating sight!

Having witnessed the entire process, Li Yifei covered his mouth tightly, staring at the window in terror, his whole body trembling!

Liu Xiaoyan chewed for a long time, and suddenly, that gaping maw opened again.

He suddenly produced a complete headmaster of studies.

Apart from some slime on his body, he didn't lose a single hair.

He lay quietly on the ground, while Liu Xiaoyan's flesh and head gradually recovered, returning to the ordinary high school girl within seconds.

She stared at the head of the teaching department in front of her, motionless.

A few seconds later, the head of the teaching department on the ground suddenly opened his eyes and stood up in a strange posture.

He and Liu Xiaoyan locked eyes.

He then smiled.

The two walked in an extremely eerie, synchronized manner, gradually disappearing at the end of the corridor.

Once he was sure the two had really left, Li Yifei released his mouth, collapsed weakly to the ground, and gasped for breath.

In his heart, there were only two words:

Not again?!
