Chapter 32
Rei smiled while looking in the direction of Priscilla and Penelope. " That is probably Penelope Clearwater, who was Percy 's girlfriend in the original. But it seems that she is now Priscilla's best friend. I'm interested in what they were talking about , but I have to go with Hagrid. Well, I can ask them later ," Rei thought and looked in the direction of the Gamekeeper of Hogwarts.
" Hagrid! It has been a long time," said the boy toward the half-giant.
" Oh, Rei. That's right, you are starting this year. How are you, boy? You didn't visit me in a long time until now , " said Hagrid with a smile on his face.
" Professor Snape was training me in dueling, so I didn't have much time, and after that, I went to Grandma and Grandpa Flamel's for learning, and Grandma just shredded me through her training of healing spells , " said Rei, and he shivered after that.
" Well, I have the ingredients you were looking for and asked me to find. Come to my hut on Saturday, and we will have some tea while you take them " Hagrid said while looking at Rei with a fond smile.
" Sure, I would like that , " said Rei with a smile.
"Okay , let's get to business. FIRST YEARS!!! COME HERE!!!" shouted Hagrid. Rei looked behind him, and when he did, he saw that only about twenty-five children were in his year.
" Well, let's get this done," Rei said under his breath .
When it seemed like all the children had come to them, Hagrid looked around, shouted again, waited for about two minutes, and then turned around and started to walk toward the docks.
" Come with me, little ones. And watch your steps; you can slip if you are not careful ."
" I will take care of that, Hagrid," said Rei and made a move with his hand as if he would like to copy Ezio from Assassin's Creed. When he did , his wand landed in his hand, and he waved it while he chanted.
" Lumos!"
When he did, all of the path was bathed in smooth, warm light. All of the children around Rei looked at him with smiles and gratefulness.
" Thanks," one of them said.
" No problem," said Rei and started to walk behind Hagrid.
" Thank you, Rei," said the giant man .
" It is no problem, Hagrid, but why does the path have no lamps? Even ones with candles would be something for anyone to not fall just like that."
" Well, I really don't know, but if I had to guess , it is because it would be just another cost " said Hagrid, and after that, they walked in silence. After about ten minutes, they arrived at the lake where boats were waiting for them.
"Alright, no more than four in the boat!" said Hagrid and went toward the boat, which looked like it was made with harder wood, most likely just for him.
Rei noticed that there were six boats that took the other children and that he would need to go alone in his boat, but he was even happy about it because he didn't know anybody, and if he remembered well, then no one from his year was ever mentioned in the books. After he boarded the boat, Hagrid waved his hand, and they started to sail toward the castle.
" Kids, be careful on the boats and try not to fall off because there is a big squid in the lake. Although it shouldn't eat you, you could get scared by it. And be careful with your heads in the tunnel. After we exit it , we will see the castle , " said Hagrid with a smile.
Rei looked at the front and saw the entrance to the tunnel. He smiled and thought that all of the kids would probably have a surprise on their faces when they saw the castle for the first time. While he thought that , his boat sailed under the tunnel, and he almost jumped with surprise when he saw a notification from Lucy.
[Detected foreign magical signature trying to attach to the host. Resisting foreign influence. Resistance successful .]
'Wait, was it a trace? Damn, it seems that I can use spells at home ' thought Rei.
" WOOOW," Rei heard from the front. 'Yeah, they saw Hogwarts.'
After about five more minutes, they came onto the shore and walked towards the castle. Like before, Rei cast Lumos for everyone. When they arrived at the gates of the castle, Rei saw two women that he knew. Well, it was one woman and one cat in this situation. When he saw the cat, he smiled and waved his hand towards his leg, and the black cat ran toward him. When Professor McGonagall saw this, she had a little smile on her face, but it quickly vanished when she looked at the other first-year students .
" First years, Professor , " said Hagrid.
" Thank you, Hagrid. Go to the Great Hall , " said Professor McGonagall to him and glanced at the children before her.
" Welcome to Hogwarts. In this castle, you will spend the next seven years learning about magic. In a few minutes, I will take you to the Great Hall where you will be assigned to one of the Houses. They are Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. Each of the Houses will replace your family in school. Remember that there are rules within these walls. When you abide by them and do something that earns you praise from your teacher , you will get points for your House. But if you break them , then you will lose points, and you could get yourself into detention. But you will learn more about this in time. For now, wait here, and when we are ready , I will come for you " said McGonagall and walked towards the doors.
Rei looked at the doors and then at the cat at his legs with a smile.
" Yoruichi, you can't go with me into the Great Hall now. Wait for us to come out of the Hall and then follow us to my room. I have sweets for you from the train , " said Rei to the black cat while he started to scratch her ears. She started to purr and nodded her head.
After a few minutes, Professor McGonagall came back into the room and said,
" We can go now."
After these words, she turned around and walked towards the Great Hall while the rest of the children started to follow her. Rei walked at the back and noticed that he was the tallest of the group . Well, it was normal with his training and rituals that the Flamels had put him through. When they walked into the Great Hall, the first thing he saw was four long tables with students sitting there , and after looking towards the end of the Hall, he could see the chair on which the Sorting Hat was laid, and behind it stood a table for staff. There, he recognized the faces of Professors he knew from his lessons and those he recognized from his memories of the films and books. But there was a teacher he couldn't recognize, and that was probably the teacher for DADA , at least for this year.
When they reached the Sorting Hat, McGonagall asked them to stand in two rows .
" When I read someone's name, they are asked to come here and sit on this chair. Then the Sorting Hat will assign you to your Houses " she said.
" Well, let's start, Terry Bulke."
When she said that, a boy with glasses and brown hair walked towards her with a bit of fright on his face. After about two seconds, when the Sorting Hat was placed on his head, there was a loud voice.
" Ravenclaw!"
And then the first table on the left from the middle, when you walk into the Great Hall, erupted in happy voices and clapping. Rei smiled and waited for his turn. In about ten minutes, he heard his name.
" Rei Wolford," said Professor McGonagall, and when she did, she looked at him with a smile.
"Did you see that? McGonagall smiled at someone," said someone at the Gryffindor table, and then there was a response Rei believed he could hear from Charlie because he remembered his voice.
" He is the grandnephew of the Headmaster, and from what I heard, he is really talented, so she will probably treat him better unless he does something bad . "
When Rei sat and took the Sorting Hat on his head, at first he heard nothing. After a few seconds, he heard ,
" Boy, could you let me into some of your memories? I can't see anything , and from what I can feel in you, you can be in all Houses, so I'd like to see your character , or if you want, you can choose where you would like to go , " said the Sorting Hat with a sigh.
'I want to go to Gryffindor,' thought Rei, and when he did, he was looking at Priscilla. 'Yes, I want to go there,' he thought with a smile.
" Well then, let it be like that. GRYFFINDOR!"
'So this is my start at Hogwarts,' thought Rei while he gave the Sorting Hat to Professor McGonagall and wanted to go to the Gryffindor table, but she stopped him.
" Rei, for what you have done on the way Hagrid told me, Gryffindor gets ten points , " she said with a small smile, to which Rei replied with a smile of his own.
