Chapter 13 - Ch-13 To Be Honest, A Truly Conscientious Business

As expected, this was a base for the Hehuan (Harmonious Union) faction, and the demon folk had already begun casting spells in secret, attempting to weaken one's resolve.

It was extremely dangerous.

If not for my stable Dao heart, I almost fell for it.

Lin Li took a deep breath, clearing the distractions from his mind. Unless a 175 cm tall, devoted, and beautiful 36D rich woman appeared, he would not allow himself to lose control like that again.

Of course, this condition was flexible—Lin Li's bottom line was often quite adaptable.

"Can I see the technician first?" Lin Li didn't immediately inquire about prices but asked instead.

As a "veteran," how could he not check the quality of the goods first?

"Of course, no problem. Please wait a moment." The woman took out her phone, fiddled with it for a bit, and then handed it over to Lin Li, introducing:

"Right now, the only technicians available to start immediately, and who have no other customers, are these three. The others are on break today, but you can take a look if you're interested. You can always make an appointment next time."

The madam smiled. Her business was unique. Although they rarely had customers, those who came back had a high retention rate, most becoming repeat clients.

It was niche but with strong loyalty.

To her, Lin Li seemed like a new customer developed from an old one, a rare sight.

Lin Li looked at the phone. Just like models had their portfolios, the chickens here had their own credentials.

Stage names, height, weight, and measurements were all clearly listed.

And each had a video with minimal beautification—some didn't even use filters.

Mainly, since Lin Li was already here, he would see the goods soon. If they didn't match, requesting a refund would be troublesome for both parties.

They were all decent-looking, all in their twenties, with no elderly ones who might be considered "elderly chickens."

Damn!

—Not a verb, but an exclamation.

When Lin Li scrolled down, he was shocked.

Each chicken had its own health certificate! And judging by the dates, they had all been issued recently—within the past few weeks.

Wow, this was really a new level of quality!

Could it be that they had regular check-ups to provide a safer, more reassuring experience for customers? This truly was a conscientious business.

Expensive? Well, now it made sense.

What a pity. Even if they were conscientious, as a righteous person, today, I would have to eliminate the evil in front of me.

"Sir, have you finished looking? Have you decided which technician you'd like?" The woman asked, seeing that Lin Li had probably gone through the introductions.

Lin Li hesitated for a moment before asking, "Can I get more than one service at a time?"

The madam looked confused: "?"

The main task was extermination—shouldn't I try to catch everyone in the act?

The woman's expression grew a little serious: "Young man, while we all have our reasons for being in this not-so-glorious line of work, we still have our dignity. We won't let anyone trample on it."

"I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Forget I said anything," Lin Li waved his hand.

He had misunderstood. Extermination didn't require him to act personally. Once the Demon Suppression Bureau arrived, they would handle uprooting the entire "chicken farm"—there was no need for him to take on multiple enemies by himself.

Let the professionals handle it.

"No, no, no, sir. That's not what I meant…" Now it was the woman's turn to wave her hands in a hurry. She quickly added, "I mean, you can, but it'll cost extra."

Lin Li blinked.

Damn, I really thought she was talking about valuing her industry and colleagues, protecting their dignity.

Turns out it was just about negotiating prices.

At 17 years old, Lin Li was still too innocent.

"No need. I'll stick with a single service for now," Lin Li refused again.

"So, which technician would you like?"

"Just pick Xiao Jing," Lin Li casually chose someone; it wasn't that important.

"Which price range?"

"First time here, I'll go with 399 to try it out."

The woman didn't seem disappointed at all when Lin Li chose the lowest-tier service.

They had their ways of getting customers to extend the time.

Desire rises with the clock; when the clock stops, the desire remains.

That was the service standard for all employees.

"Would you like the technician to wear any specific outfit? We offer various uniforms, including JK, flight attendants, office attire…"

"Also, would you like to purchase any special items to spice up the experience, like jelly, popping candy, or ice cream?"

"Our Xiao Jing specializes in both hot and cold experiences. I highly recommend you buy…"

What a professional madam.

Her introduction was so smooth that Lin Li, who had been pretending to know what was going on, was completely stunned.

What kind of exemplary business is this? The top of the "chicken farm" industry.

To be honest, Lin Li would usually scoff at the salespeople for other products outside. But here? He actually wanted to analyze every frame of the product descriptions.

Illegal but useful knowledge gained.

Jelly sounds good, I should learn about jelly.

But in the end, Lin Li held back and didn't buy anything.

After all, he didn't know if the Demon Suppression Bureau would return any "ill-gotten gains" to him. If that 399 wasn't refunded, it would break his heart. How could he continue spending money here?

Wait a second... Lin Li suddenly had a curious thought.

What would happen if I ran off after the service without paying? What would they do?

But soon, Lin Li got his answer.

Because they asked for payment upfront.

It was a direct Alipay transfer, no taxes, so it seemed this business wasn't that conscientious after all.

After receiving the payment, the woman nodded. "Please wait a moment, Xiao Jing will be right with you."

"I need to use the bathroom. Also, you must provide bathrobes, right?" Lin Li stood up and said.

"Of course. Go straight down the hall and turn right at the end. The bathroom's there, and the changing room is next to it. But you can also wait for Xiao Jing to come and help you change. That won't incur an extra fee," the woman led Lin Li out of the room, pointing him in the direction.

"Thanks," Lin Li nodded and separated from the madam, heading to the bathroom.

Inside the men's bathroom, as Lin Li walked into a stall, he saw a man standing by the sink, smoking a cigarette while mechanically washing his hands, staring at his reflection in the mirror.

The man, noticing Lin Li walk in, took the cigarette out of his mouth with his wet hands and looked at him with a melancholic, unfocused gaze. He sincerely asked:

"Little brother, what's the meaning of life? Since we all must die eventually, what's the point of living?"

Under normal circumstances, Lin Li might have thought this person was depressed and would offer some kind words.

But right now, he was in a chicken farm.

So, this wasn't depression.

This guy had just gotten too far gone from his work.

The gold leaf returned to the brain, and the high-level player took control of the thoughts; the small head controlled the big head, and the body obeyed.

"To go to the pier and get some fries." Lin Li replied dismissively.

"Speaking of which, I am a bit hungry. You reminded me, I'll have some roasted pigeon tonight." The man nodded.

"Want one?"

"No thanks." Lin Li didn't smoke, but thought for a moment and took the cigarette, though he didn't light it.

The man was about to leave, but suddenly turned around and asked, "Little brother, do you want some of that oil? I still have some left, free for you."

"...No thanks." Lin Li couldn't keep his composure.

"Well, you look young, so you probably don't need that stuff. I'll take my leave then." The man waved his hand and walked off.

Hope you really leave.

Lin Li watched the man's back, silently wishing him well.

If you leave, you're lucky.

Because the Demon Suppression Bureau wouldn't go after people who had already left, even if the man had just walked out.

But if he hasn't left, then he could be in trouble.
