As the elevator arrived at Shantel's floor, she unlocked the door and went straight to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water.
"Aren't you going to ask me why I'm here?" Jessica Hale asked when she saw herself being treated as air.
"I didn't ask you to come find me so only you know best why you're here," Shantel retorted. "But just in case you came to spend the night, which I seriously doubt, you can make yourself comfortable on the couch… I don't intend sharing my bed."
Jessica Hale stood there for a moment, her perfectly manicured hand tightening around the strap of her designer bag, as if wrestling with the insult Shantel had just tossed at her.
Ungrateful brat, she thought, biting down her pride. But I didn't come here to trade insults
As if she'd just come to a very difficult conclusion, she rose to her feet and walked over to join Shantel in the kitchen.
