There were no dark veins marking his skin; instead, it was as though he had become one with the darkness that surrounded him. And with that unity, he utterly overpowered his foe.
In mere minutes, the vampire lay motionless on the ground—unconscious but clearly alive.
Davion turned slowly, his eyes fixed on her as he began to approach. Each step was deliberate and unhurried, yet she couldn't tear her gaze away. Her heart raced, but her body refused to move. Part of her wanted to step back to retreat from his overwhelming presence, but another part urged her to stay—to watch and see what he would do. The conflict kept her rooted in place.
