Chapter 1 - Author Note

Hi!! First of all... THIS BOOK HAS BEEN UPDATED!

I would like to say thank you so much for discovering my book, amidst all the amazing authors with dazzling titles and riveting stories, you chose mine and for that I can't even begin to express my gratitude. My name is Dee, and I've been an author for a couple of years, but I've never fully published anything other than fanfiction. I am determined to fight for the success of this book because I do believe it deserves to be read just as any other novel out there deserves to be read and cherished. I am aware many authors may have similar stories but I had a vision when writing this book and noticed there weren't many Queer poc YA fantasies with spicy scenes and themes such as survival, forbidden romance, war, perseverance, addiction, abuse, mental illness, Prejudice, and identities. Please correct me if I'm wrong but lots of Queer poc authors don't always get recognized and aren't appreciated enough, though there may be novels similar to mine, these days, most people are only interested in adult romance novels with copious amounts of smut and fairly little plot. I guess to each their own... but I wanna say, even though my book has sexual themes and scenes, it does not revolve around that specifically. I'm not just a horny author trying to live vicariously through a fictional character lmao.

This book is an ode to my own struggles growing up as a black and non-binary person. I wanted to write a story that people like me could relate to. Many black authors don't receive enough attention and so above all I wanted to write this book to shed new light on queer poc characters. An exciting adventure-modern- thriller-fantasy-romance with a spicy twist because lets be honest... we need more adult-themed fantasy series' with queer poc characters. I wanted to write a book for queer black people or anyone interested in a different romance dynamic that doesn't exploit poc characters in such a demeaning way or orchestrate adult themes in a disrespectful way to minority groups.

If you have experienced bullying, if you've felt like you were alone most your life, if you were an outcast, if you are queer... fuck it, If you want a fantasy book for queer poc people that has a semblance of spiciness (if you know what I mean) or just something that resonates with your helpless romantic, lost and adventurous soul this is just the book for you.

But be warned there are dark themes... and sexual themes and political themes... but if you aren't ready to embark on a journey that pushes against societal norms and the hetero-normative perspective then... this might not be for you. But if you're willing to take the risk...

I promise you won't be disappointed.
