"This cannot stand! A mere servant daring to injure an Outer Sect disciple!? It's an insult to the dignity of the sect!"
"Lei Xing was warned," another Elder said coolly, sipping tea. "He was told not to cause trouble several times before. If he underestimated a mortal and lost, that is his shame to bear."
Lei Xing's pettiness was well known and he had done several acts for which he had been reprimanded for before. It was also why he had been assigned this task, since it wouldn't seem out of the norm for him to do something like this.
His abuse of servants was also quite common after all.
"He was tricked!" Elder Fei snarled. "Drugged! Surely, it must have been some kind of forbidden alchemy!"
The room fell into a contemplative silence.
Forbidden alchemy was a serious accusation.
Enough to bring sect-wide consequences — especially if it was traced back to... certain individuals known for their "experiments."
All eyes slowly, slowly drifted to the far end of the table.
