Chapter 397 - Chapter 397: The Straw Hat Crew's Grand Victory in Dressrosa

Marshall D. Teach quickly regrouped with Jesus Burgess, Shiryu, and Van Augur before using the powers of the Shiki-inspired Lion Fruit to make a swift evacuation. His departure was so sudden that many onlookers failed to react in time. Seizing the moment, Kaido also rose from the wreckage, shifting back into his massive blue dragon form. He snatched up Jack and flew toward the horizon, leaving the chaos behind.

Sengoku, Vice Admiral Tsuru, and the other high-ranking Marines chose not to intervene. They understood that stopping two powerful figures like Kaido and Blackbeard would be nearly impossible and would only lead to more unnecessary casualties. With Dressrosa in a state of absolute ruin, the Marines turned their focus toward managing the immediate crisis rather than chasing fleeing Emperors. They focused on arresting any remaining high-bounty pirates or criminals they could realistically catch.

Amidst the crumbling infrastructure, Pica—still merged with the stone giant—witnessed Doflamingo's defeat. Overcome with grief and rage, the high executive's focus wavered as he tried to reach his fallen young master. Roronoa Zoro seized the opening, executing his "Three Thousand Worlds" technique to finally bring the stone giant down. Though Zoro was heavily injured from the prolonged battle, he managed to secure the victory.

Trafalgar Law and Zoro stood together, silently observing Luffy and Carl, who had both collapsed from exhaustion on the battlefield. Nearby lay the bloodied and unconscious Doflamingo. Law, who had waited years for this specific moment of vengeance, finally let out a happy, triumphant laugh.

At the palace gates, the crew began to reunite. Sanji, Brook, and Tashigi joined up with Galdino (Mr. 3), Jango, Mari, and Lekki. Soon after, Usopp, Nami, Chopper, Franky, Kyros, and Rebecca arrived. However, the atmosphere remained tense as the Straw Hat group found themselves face-to-face with the Big Mom Pirates.

Katakuri, Perospero, and Cracker had already ransacked the palace in search of the elusive Multiplier Fruit. Finding nothing, they suspected the Straw Hats had stolen it and were currently demanding its return. Other members of the "Worst Generation," including Urouge, Eustass Kid, Basil Hawkins, and Scratchmen Apoo, lingered nearby, hoping to scavenge whatever they could from the aftermath.

In a surprising turn of events, Don Chinjao, leader of the Happo Navy, stepped forward to support the Straw Hats alongside Sai and Baboo. Chinjao explained that while Vice Admiral Garp had once crushed his legendary drill-shaped head, Luffy's recent punch had restored it to its original form. Viewing Luffy as a benefactor, Chinjao refused to let the Big Mom Pirates intimidate the crew.

Led by Sanji, the Straw Hats and their allies stood their ground. While they were individually outmatched by a commander of Katakuri's caliber, their sheer numbers and the nearby presence of Luffy made the Big Mom Pirates hesitate. Galdino and Jango insisted they did not have the fruit, keeping secret the fact that the Revolutionary Army had likely secured it, as Sabo was considered an ally.

Recognizing that the Marines were closing in and the other Emperors had already fled, Katakuri decided a protracted fight was no longer strategic. The Big Mom Pirates retreated, followed shortly by Kid, Hawkins, and the other opportunistic pirates. Other criminals and minor pirates fled Dressrosa in a frantic rush, with the Marines only making symbolic arrests of the most notorious individuals.

Sengoku and his subordinates decided to observe the situation in the country rather than immediately engaging the Straw Hat crew. Shortly after, Nico Robin emerged from the palace accompanied by King Riku and Viola. Bepo of the Heart Pirates also arrived, leading the small warriors of the Tontatta Tribe. The Straw Hats were surprised by the existence of the tiny "Dwarves" until Bepo and Robin explained the situation.

While in the Green Bit forest, Robin and Bepo had encountered the Tontattas. Though the tribe was naturally wary of humans, Robin utilized Carl's previous advice on their gullible nature to win their trust. They learned that Princess Mansherry was being held captive by the Donquixote Family. The crew had split up: Robin investigated the palace while Bepo and Leo, the Tontatta leader, infiltrated the SMILE factory.

Robin had successfully saved King Riku and Viola from execution. Meanwhile, at the factory, Bepo's team rescued Princess Mansherry and defeated Buffalo, who had been attempting to use the Princess's "Heal-Heal" abilities to restore Doflamingo's fallen executives. This coordinated effort ensured the total defeat of the Donquixote Family and the restoration of the rightful royal line.

The Marine leadership remained silent as the full scope of the eight-year tragedy in Dressrosa came to light. Sengoku was visibly moved by the horrors Doflamingo had inflicted upon the populace. It was a bitter realization for the Marines: they had stood by as "observers" while a pirate crew acted as the true heroes of the nation.

The failure of the Seven Warlords of the Sea system was undeniable. Much like Crocodile's plot in Alabasta, Doflamingo had used his government-sanctioned status to enslave a kingdom. Admiral Fujitora (Issho) spoke firmly, stating that the Warlord system was a plague on the world that must be abolished. Sengoku, Tsuru, and Kizaru could not argue, knowing the World Government maintained the system only to balance power against the Yonko.

Sengoku sighed and encouraged Fujitora to maintain his sense of justice as an Admiral. Meanwhile, the crew finally gathered at the palace. Luffy carried the injured Carl on his back, while Law assisted Zoro. Tony Tony Chopper and Law immediately began medical treatment. Thanks to Princess Mansherry's restorative powers, the critical injuries sustained by Carl and Zoro were largely healed, bringing the long battle to a close.
