As for Carl, he had already ascended to the highest reaches of the clouds.
Before him stood a colossal and majestic golden clock. Even without understanding its intricacies, one could sense the immense weight and profound history it embodied, causing an involuntary tremor in the heart.
With his camera in hand, Carl carefully selected several angles and captured numerous photographs.
While the golden clock itself couldn't be taken away, the photos could preserve its image. Especially the historical inscriptions beneath the clock and Roger's markings on the golden pillar could be eternally saved in these images.
Having finished this task, Carl began to emulate Mari, silently sipping tea and enjoying snacks.
However, his keen senses and extensive knowledge allowed him to observe the entirety of Upper Yard.
Carl's understanding of the area was no less comprehensive than Enel's.
After all, Enel relied on his Devil Fruit ability to perceive radio waves, enabling him to hear conversations from afar and significantly expanding his sensory range.
Carl's own electric abilities, though stemming from a weaker fruit than the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, were exceptionally well-developed.
Furthermore, Carl understood the principles of sound transmission, and his knowledge effectively compensated for any limitations of his Devil Fruit.
Eavesdropping on conversations with his enhanced senses was effortless, and even tapping into Den Den Mushi communications was theoretically possible, though Carl had never attempted it.
"Well, these energy signatures likely belong to Robin and the others. With their strength, reaching this point shouldn't be a problem, as long as Enel doesn't interfere. However, Enel doesn't seem to be keeping a low profile. Should we just deal with this guy...?"
Carl mused, taking a leisurely sip of his tea.
He then raised his eyes to see a large, foolish-looking man appearing before him, and he couldn't help but roll his eyes.
He had just thought Enel was being restless, but he hadn't expected him to appear right in front of him. It was like someone turning on the lights in their house in the middle of the night – practically begging for trouble!
This simple-minded giant with a vacant expression was adorned with a white turban and heavy gold jewelry dangling from his elongated earlobes. He also carried four taiko drums with triple tomoe symbols on his back and a gold staff in his hand, giving him the air of a gaudy upstart.
"Ahahahaha! I didn't expect such a beautiful golden clock to be here! I haven't found it all this time!"
Enel laughed wildly.
He carefully examined the golden clock, his eyes gleaming with greed and possessiveness.
Then, Enel looked at Carl, who was calmly drinking tea, and said with a condescending smile, "I should also thank you for helping me find this golden clock. As the omnipotent Almighty God, I can grant one of your wishes."
Carl chuckled softly. "A wish? How about this: can you drop dead right now?"
Enel's face instantly darkened.
"It seems you Blue Sea people have absolutely no reverence for God. But it doesn't matter; you will soon learn just how powerful God is – so powerful that it will drive you to despair and make you want to worship me! Hahahaha!"
"Then let me see,"
Carl said with a nonchalant shrug.
Enel pointed directly at Carl, and a bolt of lightning crackled into existence above Carl's head, looking incredibly dangerous.
"El Thor!"
Lightning crackled across Carl's body.
However, Carl didn't react in the slightest. The electricity coursed over him once, and then all of it was harmlessly absorbed into his body.
As someone with the power of an electric-based Devil Fruit, being vulnerable to lightning would be akin to self-electrocution. Therefore, Enel's attack caused Carl no harm whatsoever; in fact, it was like a recharge.
Enel was stunned for a moment, then forced a smile and said, "It seems you managed to evade it."
Carl looked at Enel expressionlessly. "Don't deceive yourself. Under the net of your Mantra, don't you know if I truly dodged it? And from beginning to end, did I even move?"
Enel's expression darkened further upon hearing this.
Indeed, under the network of his Mantra, he had clearly sensed the other man being struck by the electric shock. But now, the man was perfectly unharmed, making it impossible for Enel to believe what he was seeing. He desperately tried to convince himself the man had somehow avoided it.
However, the man's words were like a direct slap to his face!
To not dodge and still be immune to lightning? How could such a person exist?!
"Twenty Million Volts: God's Punishment!"
Boom! Enel's hand aimed at Carl, unleashing a massive pillar of lightning, but the instant it reached Carl, it was completely absorbed.
"Thirty Million Volts: Thunderbird!"
Enel struck the taiko drums on his back with his gold staff, and the lightning immediately coalesced into a gigantic thunderbird, hurtling towards Carl. However, the Thunderbird met the same fate as the lightning pillar, vanishing upon contact.
Carl let out a small burp, feeling slightly bloated from the sudden influx of electricity.
"How is this possible?! How can this be?! What in the world are you? Why aren't you afraid of my lightning?!"
Surprise flashed across Enel's eyes...
In truth, this man was arrogant and boastful, relying entirely on his own abilities, but his psychological foundation was incredibly fragile. The moment he encountered an unbelievable failure, his entire persona would crumble.
The panic on his face was now glaringly obvious; he couldn't even attempt to mask it.
Carl said leisurely, "Nothing is impossible; it's just that your knowledge is too limited, and you're nothing more than a frog in a well."
As he spoke, he slowly stood up and suddenly appeared directly in front of Enel, delivering a swift punch to Enel's face.
Enel was still muttering to himself, "Even if I can't hurt you, it's impossible for you to hurt me. I am lightning, an almighty god! How could I be mortal... Pfft!"
The punch landed squarely, sending Enel flying backward.
Blood spurted from his mouth and nose, and his entire appearance was utterly pathetic.
"Argh! It hurts! How could it hurt so much?! Why did you hit me?! Why?!"
"I am Thunder itself! I am Thor! How could you possibly hurt me?!"
Enel was bordering on hysteria, clearly experiencing an existential crisis after being punched. Indeed, since consuming the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, he likely hadn't sustained any injuries. Now, suddenly having his face bloodied, he must have thought it was a nightmare.
But reality was harsh, and denial wouldn't change it.
Carl calmly sat back down to drink his tea, saying slowly, "Nothing is impossible, because you are not a god, just a person who ate the Rumble-Rumble Fruit.
The power in the Grand Line is not absolute. You don't understand the principle of mutual creation and destruction. No one is absolutely invincible. You are merely an arrogant frog in a well, completely unaware of the countless strong individuals in the sea – those who could kill you can't even be counted on ten hands!"
"I don't believe it! I don't believe it! Go to hell! Go to hell! Thor!"
Enel's entire body crackled with lightning, transforming into a pudgy thunder man as he charged towards Carl.
Carl casually drew the Third Generation Kitetsu and struck Enel across the face with the back of the blade, instantly dispelling his "Thor" form and knocking out several of his teeth.
"Look, I haven't even exerted any real force yet, and you're already falling apart."
Enel, who was attempting to get back on his feet, was utterly demoralized by this simple statement and collapsed on the spot.
In the end, he transformed into a bolt of lightning and fled down through the clouds, rushing towards some unknown destination without returning to his shrine.
