Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1 - SUMMER

In the sun-drenched town of Amakawa, the Kaede family was a beacon of warmth and kindness, deeply respected by the close-knit community.

Mr. Takashi, the patriarch, held a special place in his heart for his son, Jin. Jin, a young man of striking beauty and exceptional intelligence, was the star student of his class, though his heart had remained untouched by romantic love… until now.

As the summer sun began its descent, casting long shadows and painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson, Jin found himself grappling with a profound realization: his attraction to men.

The discovery filled him with a mixture of excitement and apprehension, as he feared how his parents might react. The weight of this secret lingered as he joined his father for dinner.

Amidst the clinking of cutlery and the aroma of carefully prepared dishes, Jin summoned the courage to speak.

"Father… how would you feel if I liked boys?" His voice trembled with both fear and hope.

Mr. Takashi's gentle smile was unwavering. "Jin… nothing will ever change how much I love you," he said softly. "You are my son, and that will never change."

Tears of relief streamed down Jin's face as he embraced his father, overwhelmed by gratitude and a sense of freedom he had never known.

Later, in the solitude of his room, Jin prepared for bed. He followed his nightly routine, cleansing his face and attending to his skincare. As the warm water cascaded over him, he felt a surge of emotion—longing, desire, the ache for connection.

He yearned for someone to share his life with, to understand and accept him fully, someone who could see him as he truly was.

A knock at the door broke his reverie.

"Who is it?" Jin asked, slightly breathless.

"It's your lovely and wonderful friend, Yoshi!" came the cheerful reply.

"Yoshi! What a pleasant surprise!" Jin exclaimed, his heart skipping a beat as he pulled his friend into a warm embrace.

Yoshi's eyes met his, and for a moment, the room seemed to shrink around them, the world fading away.

"Looks like we have something in common," Yoshi teased, noticing the remnants of Jin's private moment.

Jin laughed, relieved and slightly flushed, grateful for a friend who understood him so completely.

Then, Yoshi shared the news that would brighten Jin's summer even further: he, too, would attend Seiryu High Academy. Jin's initial sadness at the thought of separation melted into joy. A flutter of excitement danced in his chest—he would not face this new chapter alone.

The evening stretched long, filled with laughter, shared snacks, and quiet glances that lingered a moment too long. Slightly intoxicated, they eventually collapsed on the couch together, their shoulders brushing, a warmth spreading through Jin he hadn't anticipated.

In the quiet of the night, Mr. Takashi checked on them. Seeing them peacefully asleep, he carefully carried them to their beds, a silent gesture of care and protection that only added to the comfort of the moment.

The next morning, Jin awoke to find Yoshi lying beside him. His pulse quickened at the simple sight, a warmth blooming in his chest.

"Last night was fun," Yoshi said, a soft smile tugging at his lips.

"It was," Jin agreed, a quiet, thrilling happiness settling over him.

As Yoshi left to attend to other tasks, Jin lingered in the moment, the memory of shared warmth and laughter lingering like sunlight on his skin.

With school only a week away, he felt a renewed sense of anticipation and possibility. This new chapter promised not just academic challenges, but moments of closeness, unspoken understanding, and perhaps… something more.
