Chapter 217 - #217

Who are the true children of the shinobi world?

Hagoromo, the Sage of Six Paths, was certainly one. He righteously sealed his own mother to save humanity, founded Ninshu, and single-handedly steered the course of history.

Senju Hashirama was another. He united warring clans, birthed the hidden village system, and forged a new era out of blood and ash.

Anyone who failed to fundamentally reshape the world simply didn't make the cut.

But now, as Hashirama absorbed the colossal reserves of natural energy from Mount Myoboku, he brushed against something ancient. He touched the very Will of the World.

That omnipresent force silently bestowed its blessing upon him.

Hashirama realized the agonizing pain in his cells had completely vanished. The senjutsu chakra flowed into his body endlessly, vast and untamed.

His colossal wooden construct—the True Several Thousand Hands—began to mutate. Its explosive growth rapidly surpassed Hashirama's and the Great Toad Sage's wildest expectations.

What was happening?

They didn't realize that the shinobi world was once again standing on the precipice of a new era. Terrified of an unknown, industrialized future, the planet's survival instincts kicked in, desperately pouring its power into the champion of the past.

From the barren, windswept dunes of the Demon Desert, a gargantuan tree erupted toward the heavens.

It easily dwarfed the towering skyscrapers of Mufasa's modern city. Its sprawling canopy spread like a thundercloud, blotting out the sun and plunging the desert into a heavy, suffocating twilight.

"No matter what, we must win this battle!" the Great Toad Sage croaked, deeply moved by the sheer scale of Hashirama's divine power.

Inside the mechanical titan's command center, the Sunagakure shinobi could only stare in absolute awe.

"What kind of ninjutsu is this?" Orochimaru muttered, his serpentine eyes wide with disbelief. "Is such a thing even possible?"

Under Mufasa's influence, Orochimaru had grown to despise traditional ninjutsu and forbidden jutsu as archaic, obsolete tools. He never expected Hashirama's Wood Release to birth a titan that towered a full head over their own mechanical god.

Even Mufasa hadn't anticipated this.

"Amazing," Mufasa murmured.

The dormant, hot-blooded thrill of battle began to boil in his veins. It had been a long time since he faced an opponent who could actually look him in the eye.

'This is going to be fun,' he thought, a predatory grin stretching across his face.

"Kazekage Mufasa! DO NOT RESIST!" Hashirama roared.

The colossal World Tree mirrored his movements, opening a massive wooden maw to echo the challenge. The booming voice fractured the heavens and shook the very foundations of the earth.

Countless branches and serpentine aerial roots twisted together, forming a pair of monolithic arms that reached high into the howling winds. The construct stood with absolute, unyielding authority.

The World Tree stretched further into the sky. Its subterranean roots split into two massive trunks, pulling free from the bedrock to form sturdy, trunk-like legs.

The wooden god pulled its foot back and took a step forward.

BOOM!

The earth violently fractured, tearing open deep, jagged abysses in the sand. A tidal wave of yellow dust choked the sky, adding a heavy, oppressive gloom to the battlefield.

Even Mufasa's towering mechanical commander seemed to tremble slightly before this display of natural majesty.

Looking up at the walking World Tree, the Sunagakure shinobi lost their confident smiles. The sheer scale of the enemy was suffocating.

Mufasa narrowed his eyes. He could feel an undeniable, crushing hostility pressing down on him from the atmosphere itself.

Everyone present felt the overwhelming dread radiating from the World Tree.

Could this even be called ninjutsu anymore? No hand signs or chakra reserves could explain this level of apocalyptic power.

Even Hashirama himself was wielding this divine strength for the first time. This wasn't just his own chakra; this was the planet itself violently rejecting change.

The Will of the World despised reformers, and it was using Hashirama as its absolute weapon.

The World Tree moved with the furious momentum of the heavens, fueled by the planet's wrath.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The World Tree marched toward the steel titan, shaking the continent with every massive step. Wherever its wooden feet struck the barren desert, lush vegetation violently erupted.

Flowers bloomed in the wasteland as the very laws of nature warped around its presence.

Hashirama could clearly sense the world's intent. Natural energy practically threw itself into his body, allowing him to move the colossal titan as easily as his own limbs.

Ninjutsu that usually required intense focus could now be unleashed with a mere thought. Heaven and earth were fighting by his side!

'With this divine blessing, victory is absolute!' Hashirama thought, his spirit blazing.

Even the Great Toad Sage was awestruck, never expecting the planet's will to manifest so physically.

'Sons of chaos,' the ancient toad thought, glaring at the mecha. 'Your path ends here.'

As the World Tree closed the distance, the oppressive malice of the planet bore down heavily on Mufasa.

He sat in his command chair, completely unfazed.

'Heh. They say a forced harvest yields bitter fruit, but at least it quenches your thirst,' Mufasa mused sarcastically.

'Mother Nature, I've been tearing up your turf for years now. Isn't it a little late for you to finally throw a tantrum?'

He scoffed, staring up at the towering canopy.

'A World Tree? Please. I've chopped down and blown up plenty of "World Trees" in my time. You're nothing special.'

Mufasa leaned into the intercom, a vicious laugh escaping his lips. "Senju Hashirama! Here I come!"

The mechanical titan's engines roared to life. Its colossal gears ground together as it marched relentlessly toward the World Tree.

BOOM.

BOOM.

The two apocalyptic giants finally met in the center of the desert.

Standing atop the wooden canopy, Hashirama locked his hands together, his face carved with grim determination. "Then come!"

There was no flashy ninjutsu. There were no complex strategies.

This was just the most primal, brutal form of combat.

The World Tree swung its monolithic wooden arms, tearing through the sound barrier to smash into the mechanical titan.

The steel commander threw a devastating iron fist to meet it.

BANG! BANG!

Four colossal arms collided in a shockwave that threatened to shatter the sky.

A deafening rumble tore across the continent, sounding as if the world itself was collapsing. The heavens violently shook, hurricane winds screamed, and a blinding wave of yellow sand swallowed the horizon.

Light and shadow violently intertwined between the mechanical titan and the World Tree. As the two absolute forces clashed in mid-air, waves of senjutsu and kinetic energy ripped outward in relentless, devastating rings.

Standing tens of miles away, the allied shinobi forces hit the dirt, feeling as though reality was tearing itself apart.

They were watching two gods fight, and it was absolutely terrifying.
