Qin Yi and Bai Jingqing waited for hours at the Village Chief's house before he finally returned, looking none too pleased.
"Is Little Yaya's mother okay?"
Qin Yi knew that all of this was undoubtedly related to the deceased Little Yaya.
The Village Chief sat down and sighed, "She fainted several times from crying."
Qin Yi didn't know what to say. He had experienced the pain of losing a loved one and knew how heart-wrenching it could be.
"Qin Yi, we really owe you a huge thanks this time. If it weren't for you, we'd all have met a grim fate."
Qin Yi waved his hand, gently shaking his head.
In fact, they were the ones who owed an apology. If they hadn't intruded, none of this would've happened.
"You all rest for a bit. I'll go prepare some food; let's have a drink, you and I."
Qin Yi nodded, knowing the Village Chief was in low spirits and that a bit of wine might do him good.
