The flow of spiritual power generated after a believer's prayer mostly follows the same path as the meditation steps pre-written by a Wizard. Generally speaking, it directly flows towards the Wizard with whom a strong connection is established. But Lynch did not do this.
"The Statue of Light Goddess in the Light Cathedral is the external embodiment left by the Divine in this world. By devoutly initiating a prayer, the Light Goddess can hear the heart of the believers."
