Chapter 42 - Rankings of magic users

After a brief discussion, Raiden changed his family name to Storm as a disguise. Without needing to endure a lengthy administrative process, all his personal data registration was handled swiftly and processed on the very same day.

His goal for attending university was to feast his eyes on the beautiful and elegant young ladies, so Raiden set his sights on entering the most elite class.

Although it was called a university, there were no specific majors on this campus. However, every student had the freedom to select subjects based on their interests and objectives, and to join particular clubs that would help them develop and achieve their targets.

"Hmm—if you want to enter the elite class, you must rank in the top 50 after completing the competency exam," Virelia informed him of the mandatory requirements for Raiden's desire.

Raiden nodded in understanding. "No problem, I'll follow every exam process fairly and honestly," he replied with a voice brimming with confidence, as if the top spot was already firmly in his grasp.

Virelia's beautiful pink eyes could see the absolute certainty in Raiden's gaze. Though it was their first meeting, her intuition told her that this young man was extraordinarily special and would undoubtedly achieve results far beyond expectations.

Meanwhile, Amber remained doubtful, unsure of just how formidable Raiden's capabilities and strength were compared to the young participants from other elite families, who were already widely renowned.

"Attention to all prospective students: please proceed immediately to the main campus stadium arena for the exam. The exam will begin in 30 minutes; participants are advised not to arrive late."

The announcement from the campus administration operator echoed across the vast campus grounds, prompting many to rush toward the exam site as quickly as possible to avoid being tardy.

Upon hearing that the exam was about to start, Virelia took the initiative to transport Raiden directly to the stadium arena using a special magical device capable of creating portal gates to various locations within the campus.

The device was positioned right at the far end of the office. Virelia pressed the red button, triggering the portal gate's activation. In an instant, a large portal resembling a grand door with a curved top materialized before the three of them.

"Raiden, come follow me. It's time for you to take the exam," Virelia said in a gentle voice, inviting the young man to trail behind her into the portal.

Raiden nodded knowingly, just as Virelia shifted her gaze forward once more.

Amber, not wanting to be left behind, hurriedly dashed to Raiden's side. "Don't leave me," she exclaimed with a hint of annoyance, her face twisted into a pout.

Raiden grinned faintly, amused by Amber's adorable antics. It clashed with her outwardly cold demeanor, but for some reason, he found that cute side immensely satisfying.

Raiden could hardly wait to try out various positions while fucking Amber, making her moan in that cute and naughty way, then watching her go full Ahegao as she reached climax. Just imagining it made his hidden penis throb uncontrollably in rebellion. Luckily, the tight pants he wore provided the perfect camouflage to conceal it.

With a fluid motion, Raiden whispered softly into Amber's ear. "Hmm—you're so sweet, Amber," he praised.

"Th-thank you," Amber replied in a voice as faint as a mosquito's hum, her face flushing red like a tomato. She hadn't expected to be teased like that, right behind her own mother.

Of course, Virelia overheard what Raiden said to her daughter. She merely chuckled in amusement at her daughter's bashful expression. She had never seen the icy-cold Amber transform into someone so shy and docile before.

Though Raiden couldn't suppress his filthy thoughts, he still wanted everything to unfold naturally, without any overly forced advances. Besides, he was already tired of coercive methods, like those he'd used on the members of the girl group Lunarian.

The moment they arrived at the magnificent stadium towering like a colossal fortress beneath the darkening dusk sky, Virelia and Amber chose to relax in the luxurious VVIP lounge—furnished with plush leather chairs, refreshing drinks, and a giant monitor broadcasting the entire event live. Meanwhile, Raiden strode confidently straight to the vast synthetic grass field, joining the neatly lined-up first-wave prospective students, where the breeze carried faint scents of metal and magical energy.

Like any typical matriculation ceremony, speeches from the university's high-ranking officials began—the rector clad in a shimmering black robe and a senior student representative speaking with a commanding voice. But everything was brisk and to the point, no long-winded introductions, until at last the much-anticipated competency test officially commenced, marked by the blaring sound of a magical horn echoing throughout the stadium.

This competency test was actually similar to the magical association exams, like the control magic trial that uses special mechas—giant armored robots controlled through magical energy via a glowing glove-shaped controller. The difference was, the university's robot system was much simpler, not as complicated as the association's trap-filled exams. Usually, candidates were only asked to activate and operate simple modules installed inside the mecha, then maneuver the robot within set boundaries, such as stepping forward ten meters or lifting a light load with its mechanical arm.

After that came the real second exam: the skill test. Here, candidates were divided into two groups—Combatant magicians and Non-Combatants—amid the roaring crowd filling the stands.

For the Combatants, they would face off directly in the center of a sandy arena surrounded by a transparent energy barrier, testing their strength against each other in fierce battles full of magical explosions and agile movements. Meanwhile, the Non-Combatants would demonstrate their abilities according to their respective specialties—perhaps conjuring complex illusions or manipulating natural elements without destructive power—being carefully evaluated by the supervising professors who closely noted every detail on digital tablets.

Because of his striking appearance—with slightly long silver hair fluttering in the wind, a form-fitting sleek outfit emphasizing his athletic build, and a confident aura radiating like blue flames—many eyes fixed on Raiden. Some admired him, but not a few glared with jealousy and resentment, especially from the group of men who stared at him with bloodshot eyes.

Raiden only gave a slight smile toward the nearby girls, casting his charm with his signature overly cool style—a subtle nod paired with a deep gaze. As a result, the men grew even more disgusted and hateful; some even spat on the sandy ground, unable to contain the burning envy in their hearts, like molten lava boiling beneath the surface.

If not for the stern anti-magic guards watching closely, ready with weapons in hand, they might have mobbed Raiden and destroyed his image in front of the packed stadium crowd.

Before the competency test begins, each prospective student undergoes a scan of their magical energy capacity using advanced technological devices.

Only after this initial assessment will the participants face the competency exam. Upon completion, a comprehensive evaluation determines their power ranking. These rankings are divided into distinct tiers:

E = Elementary (beginner or basic level, for new magic users still learning fundamentals).

D = Developed (early development level, where users start mastering basic skills but are still limited).

C = Competent (competent level, for magic users capable of handling standard tasks well).

B = Bronze (mid-basic level, indicating solid ability but not elite).

A = Advanced (advanced level, for experienced magic users with high skills).

S = Superior (superior level, for elite magic users surpassing normal standards).

SS = Super Special (super special level, showing extraordinary or rare power).

SSS = Supreme (highest level, for legendary or god-like magic users with unmatched power).

Of course, there were mythical ranks such as Transcendent, whose existence was unclear and regarded by experts as mere myth.
