The moment Ye Yuwei came home and opened the door, she found herself staring awkwardly at the box of donkey-hide gelatin in front of her.
"Yuwei, didn't the dance instructor say yesterday that you were lacking energy? My mom bought this for me, but I don't really like eating it, so I brought it for you," Yu Manting said with a smile.
After hesitating for a long while, Ye Yuwei finally decided to accept it.
If she refused, it would mean she didn't want to get along with Manting.
No matter what, Yu Manting was a pretty decent person.
"Manting, thank you. This stuff is really good. Lately Jiaqi's health has also been a bit weak, so it'll be great for us to share it and replenish together."
When Yu Manting heard Ye Yuwei's words, her smile momentarily faded, but it quickly reappeared.
"That's fine too. Jiaqi is lucky to have a friend like you who always thinks of her," Manting replied.
"Haha," Ye Yuwei laughed, her face showing a contented expression.
"I'm back! Yuwei, what are you doing? Hurry up and make me instant noodles, I want—"
Li Jiaqi's voice rang out as she burst into the dorm after training. But when she noticed Manting was also in the room, she froze in an awkward confusion.
"Jiaqi, Manting brought us some donkey-hide gelatin," Ye Yuwei said as she walked over and casually took Li Jiaqi's hand in hers.
"Oh! Thank you, Manting, that's very kind of you," Li Jiaqi said, masking her mixed feelings with a warm expression.
"Don't mention it. I need to go practice now; there's a rehearsal tonight." Yu Manting gave a quick goodbye before smiling and leaving.
"You're back early today! Didn't train a bit longer?" Yuwei teased while pulling a portable electric stove out from under the bed.
"Hm!"
"What flavor do you want? Seafood or three-flavor noodles? Do you want me to add a sausage?" Ye Yuwei asked as she picked up a pot, prepared to fetch water.
"Never mind, I suddenly lost my appetite."
"Hey! What's with you?! Manting's just being thoughtful, that's all."
"Thoughtful towards you, maybe. Has nothing to do with me," Li Jiaqi muttered, clearly feeling jealous.
"Jiaqi, Manting wants to pair up as a commercial CP with me, but you're the only one who really matters to me," Ye Yuwei said gently.
Seeing Li Jiaqi lower her head and stay silent, Yuwei put the pot down and grabbed her hand. "Jiaqi, trust me. I know what's important. Here, you're the one I rely on; we're the ones who truly depend on each other."
"Yuwei, I'm not mad. I'm just scared... scared that you won't want me anymore. In this world, you're the only family I have," Li Jiaqi said, her voice trembling.
"Silly girl, how could I not want you? We'll be together for a lifetime." Ye Yuwei's voice was filled with warmth.
At that moment, the moon rose outside the window, casting its soft glow across the sky. The room filled with a gentle serenity.
…
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The sounds of water splashing as Li Jiaqi rinsed soap suds off her body were interrupted by the enticing aroma of pickled cabbage instant noodles.
She hurriedly wiped off her wet hair, wrapped herself in a towel, and dashed out of the bathroom.
"If it weren't for the smell of these noodles, you'd probably spend forever in the shower," Ye Yuwei said, already dried off from her own shower, smiling at her.
"Hmm! Smells so good—exactly my kind of flavor!"
"Ah! Hey! What are you doing? Why are you smelling me instead of the noodles?"
"Because you smell good! Like delicious meat, I'm craving a bite!"
Li Jiaqi, shameless, hugged Ye Yuwei close and started playfully "biting" her.
"Alright, alright! The soup's about to spill over!" Ye Yuwei protested.
"Yuwei, you're amazing—you even added a fried egg!"
Li Jiaqi's happiness was overflowing as she stared at the bowl of noodles, absolutely content.
"Yuwei, let's open 'Pocket'!" Jiaqi suggested suddenly.
"Why? We're eating!"
"Exactly! Let the fans see us eating together, drinking soup together, being happy together—it's the perfect picture!"
Having no way to reason with her best friend, Ye Yuwei opened their streaming app, and as their notification avatars lit up, dozens of fans quickly flooded the room.
"Wow! Two beautiful ladies eating instant noodles together!"
"Looks so happy! I'm starving now—I need to order skewers and grab a beer!"
"Did you two just shower? Why is your hair still wet? I need to see what you looked like ten minutes ago!"
…
Their fans streamed into the live chat room. Ye Yuwei and Li Jiaqi noticed there were even ten more viewers than usual today.
Reading the screen full of friendly comments, the two felt a deep sense of joy.
"Yuwei, Jiaqi, are you guys always this shy-shy with each other?" A fan commented.
Ye Yuwei glanced at the fan's ID—she didn't recognize this name, most likely a new follower.
"Shy? No way!" Jiaqi laughed and responded cheerfully.
"Actually, Jiaqi's usually super shy! Even when we're outside holding hands, she'll stuff my hand into her pocket," Yuwei revealed mischievously.
The fans exploded with excitement at this "secret."
Wave after wave of comments flooded in:
"Details! We need details!"
"Who's the top and who's the bottom?"
