When Charlotte Shaw returned to the hospital room, Benjamin Shaw was still asleep, undisturbed by the noise of her coming and going.
Tiptoeing to the bedside, she placed the phone back where it originally was, then went over to sit on the sofa.
She was browsing through her WeChat friends' feed on her phone while waiting for Anthony to arrive.
About an hour later, Anthony appeared at the doorway of the hospital room, prompting Charlotte Shaw to immediately put away her phone and get up to greet her 'invited' guest.
"Tony! Why did you bring so many things?" Charlotte Shaw asked as she bent down to help Anthony carry the items. When she stood up with the things, she glanced behind Anthony but didn't see the figure of Alice Turner.
"Compared to the injuries your ex-husband sustained, these things are hardly worth mentioning."
Anthony was too focused on glancing at the hospital bed to notice Charlotte Shaw's subtle movements.
