Delphine had always held a good impression of this Major General. Back in the South Seas, during those awkward days of her life, Richard Shaw had extended her an olive branch. Although she wasn't sure how he had ended up with Leah, Richard Shaw, at least on the surface, seemed far more reliable than Ignatius Leclair.
It was just unfortunate that the Shaw Family's status was so lofty, and Richard Shaw's position so unique. She felt for Leah and didn't wish for Leah to marry into the Shaw Family.
"How long have you known Leah, Major Shaw?" Delphine asked thoughtfully. Back then, she had only heard Ignatius mention it in passing, enough to know Leah had been adopted by a prominent family in the Imperial City. Given that Ignatius could know Leah, there was no reason Richard Shaw wouldn't know her as well.
Previously, Delphine had never thought about it. Now, as she pondered, a vague chill seemed to arise within her.
