Early the next morning, Kyla Zamora rushed to the Imperial City from Southeast Asia, exhausted and travel-worn. When she saw Delphine for the first time in three years, and then Nicholas Carter, who was beautiful, adorable, and resembled a miniature version of Ignatius Leclair, she was so stunned she couldn't say a word. When she finally snapped out of it, she burst into tears and exclaimed, "You still have a shred of decency left, knowing to call me. I thought you were going to stay anonymous for the rest of your life."
Delphine quickly invited her inside and chuckled softly, saying, "I've only been back for two months. Once I got settled, I immediately reached out to you."
