Delphine was startled awake by hunger. The first thing she saw was the familiar carved patterns on the ceiling. The quilt beside her carried the cool, woody scent of a man, warm and comforting.
She suddenly sat up, pausing for a few seconds before recalling that she was at the Leclair Residence.
After taking a bath and changing her clothes, she went downstairs. The side hall was eerily quiet, as if everyone in the Leclair Residence had vanished into thin air.
"Miss Delphine, why have you come down?" A servant, carrying a plate of broken porcelain pieces, entered the side hall and was startled to see her.
Delphine noticed the fragments in her hands belonged to Old Master's favorite set of premium zisha teapot cups. Her brows furrowed immediately as she asked, "What happened?"
The servant hurriedly cleaned up the shards, avoiding further explanation, and merely lowered her gaze. "It's nothing."
