Jane Quinlan sat down at her desk huffing and puffing.
Her mood took a long time to settle.
She disliked her current work environment, which was already exhausting from the moment she started working at the new company.
And now she had to deal with Nolan Moore, who seemed to pick on her whenever he felt like it.
She was here to work, not to be irritated.
At lunchtime, when Nolan Moore came out of his office, Jane didn't look up or acknowledge him in the slightest.
Nolan Moore approached her desk with a hug: "Work's over, time for lunch."
"I know."
"That's the attitude you're using to talk to me?"
Jane looked up at him: "Or should I prostrate before you and say, 'Master, I am aware'?"
Seeing her disgruntled expression, Nolan Moore couldn't be bothered with her and simply turned to leave.
Jane flipped open the rulebook to study.
Kay Forrest called her on the phone, asking her to go out for lunch.
Jane, not in the best of moods: "I won't go, just head out by yourself."
