Jeremiah May saw from a distance a tiny figure rummaging through the trash bin in the courtyard, and a memory flashed through his mind of what his uncle had said to him not long ago: "Oh right, didn't you give a poster to that little one called Nannan before?"
"Uncle, why are you asking that?" He didn't answer and instead asked back.
"It just came to me suddenly. Yesterday, before Mireille left, she said that she carelessly tore the poster when she was playing with that little one." Old Master May said. She claimed it was an accident, but who could really tell whether it was truly unintentional?
But of course, that kind of thing wasn't something Old Master May would care much about. That girl Mireille, in Old Master May's eyes, had a bit of scheming to her, though her scheming wasn't exactly very sophisticated. It was only because Madam Li had acknowledged her as an external granddaughter that Old Master May treated Mireille well.
