[Identification]
[Reading]
[Reconstruction]
These are the temporary names for the three core transmutation circles of the [Ultimate Move Card], named after their functions during refinement.
The refinement of an [Ultimate Move Card] first requires identifying the "Ultimate Move" from the [Magic Guide Spirit Card], then reading the "identified Ultimate Move," and finally reconstructing the "read Ultimate Move" within the Magic Guide Card.
In this entire loop, [Identification] comes first; once identification fails, everything becomes void.
And in order to identify the desired Ultimate Move from the [Magic Guide Spirit Card], one needs to place core materials matching the Ultimate Move on the [Reconstruction] transmutation circle to serve as a guide.
Finally, that material is needed to carry out the reconstruction.
This is a cyclical process.
Once this process is understood, it becomes relatively easy to discover that the so-called [Identification], [Reading], and [Reconstruction] are essentially a disk reading program.
And the [Magic Guide Spirit Card] is a USB flash drive.
[Identification] is "Search."
Searching for content related to the "Ultimate Move" from within the USB drive.
The "Ultimate Moves" already present on the panel are like files sitting in a folder.
And the "Ultimate Moves" not on the panel, but which have the potential to be learned, are "hidden files" that have undergone layers of encryption.
The search difficulty for the two is naturally different.
And moving the "Ultimate Move" file from the depths of the folder to the very front makes it easier to be searched!
In other words, it is letting the [Magic Guide Spirit] extract this part of the memory from the depths of its mind to the surface, which is—Recall!
Recall the feeling when releasing the Ultimate Move!
Other Magic Guide Spirits might not be able to do this.
But Dark's Magic Guide Spirits, every single one of them can do it!
And very easily at that.
...
After receiving Dark's command, the Ditto inside the card couldn't help but recall the scene when it first met its master and "transformed" into its master's head.
At this moment, Dark hadn't even put the [Magic Beast Hair] into [Reconstruction] yet, but the [Identification] transmutation circle had already lit up with light!
This was the sign that the Ultimate Move had been identified!
...
"This is..."
Professor Kazel, observing from behind Dark, couldn't help but let his expression shift slightly.
Dark's operation was somewhat beyond his expectations, but considering that Dark's Magic Guide Spirits were all existences with an intelligence level higher than 3, this operation appeared normal again.
But that was an operation even he couldn't replicate!
"This does not possess universality."
An era-spanning technology capable of changing the times must be "universal."
Whether it is the "Merlin Transmutation Circle," the "Dalton Transmutation Circle," or the "Demeter Transmutation Circle," they are all like this.
Even the "Alvit Transmutation Circle" has a certain degree of universality.
But if the transmutation circle for the [Ultimate Move Card] requires the high intelligence of a Magic Guide Spirit to support it, then it can only be an exclusive transmutation circle for "personal use."
Unless "high intelligence" can also be popularized along with it.
→ This thought flashed through Professor Kazel's mind and was immediately thrown into the [Trash Can].
A technology sought after by so many Magisters—how could it be so easily popularized?
If it could be popularized, the entire Magic Guide Era would likely be overturned!
...
Professor Kazel couldn't help but continue observing Dark's experiment.
After the [Identification] transmutation circle glowed slightly, Dark still placed the [Magic Beast Hair] onto [Reconstruction].
Afterward, he injected magic power to perform "Guidance" and "Fine-tuning."
This allowed the three transmutation circles—[Identification], [Reading], and [Reconstruction]—to glow successively.
Once the light stabilized, the [Magic Guide Spirit Card] could be removed from [Identification], and the transmutation circles adjusted to contract together.
Finally, placing the remaining materials onto the [Reconstruction] transmutation circle, refining them slowly, bit by bit.
It was like simmering bone soup; the core material was the bone, but ingredients were also needed.
This step was even more difficult than imagined!
...
Because there was no precise transmutation equation, one had to grasp the type, quantity, and even quality of the materials thrown into the transmutation circle by oneself.
Even senior Magisters would find it hard to do perfectly, let alone first-year little Magisters.
So the original purpose of this class was essentially the so-called "experience," giving the little Magisters a preliminary concept of advanced refinement methods.
At the same time, Professor Kazel might not have been without the thought of treating them as lab rats...
Children's thoughts are the most unconstrained.
Perhaps from their behaviors, methods and opportunities to perfect this transmutation method could be found.
...
While still in the process of refinement, Professor Kazel discovered that Dark's [Ultimate Move Card] refinement had failed.
Although it might barely take shape in the end, it would ultimately be just a failing [Ultimate Move Card].
He narrowed his eyes slightly and continued watching.
...
Just as he expected, Dark had already realized something was wrong during the final wrap-up of the refinement.
The experience gained from intensively studying [Curse Cage] and [Fusion] told him that this refinement had likely developed a flaw.
But with the refinement having proceeded to this point, it was irreversible; he could only continue.
Two minutes later.
When all materials were refined and the transmutation circles had all retracted into the Magic Guide Card.
A black silhouette of a Ditto gradually surfaced on the face of the card.
It looked quite like the real deal.
Although Dark felt slightly hesitant.
But he still used tweezers to pick up this Magic Card for rinsing, and then took out [Magic Beast (Ditto)], preparing for the experiment.
At this time, quite a few gazes in the classroom had already focused over.
Although he sat in the corner of the last row, he still couldn't escape the students' attention.
Even if only one person noticed, it would spread from one to two, two to four, and soon spread everywhere.
Soon, everyone in the classroom knew that Dark Demon had once again completed the refinement of a Magic Guide Card first!
"In the name of Dark Demon, Magic Guide Summon—Magic Beast · Ditto!"
After a quick chant, a cute, pale purple spirit appeared on the desk.
Dark picked up the Ultimate Move Card he had just refined and used the Normal Summoning Spell to activate it.
As the face of the Ultimate Move Card emitted a gradually intensifying white light, a light of similar frequency also began to emit from Ditto's body.
"Pfft!"
Ditto transformed into [Crooked-Mouth Dark]!
...
Seeing the "Squinty-eyed Crooked-Mouth Dark" paralyzed on the desktop, with only a face having completed the "Transformation," Dark couldn't help but let out a laugh.
"Mmph!"
Diana and Rose, who had turned around from the front row, also hurriedly covered their mouths, unable to suppress their laughter.
Nearby students couldn't help but stand on tiptoes to look, and immediately, one by one, they all laughed.
The classroom gradually filled with cheerful laughter.
...
Immediately following that.
"BOOM!"
Someone's cauldron exploded!
"Wah!"
A miserable scream rang out instantly.
Professor Kazel hurriedly waved his magic wand, and water descending from the sky extinguished the flames.
But the unidentified liquid flowing out of the cauldron had already corroded the desktop, and a pungent stench exploded abruptly!
"Open the windows, open the windows!"
The students shouted frantically one after another.
Regardless of whether they were hit by the stench or not, they all jeered wildly.
The Noble House students near the windows hurriedly opened them, allowing the stench to drift out.
"My God, dear Gold, what on earth did you put in there?!"
The scream emitted by the student in front of Virt was also drowned out in the waves of noise.
No one cared who caused the explosion.
They only knew that "jeering" was truly fun.
...
Only when the classroom had calmed down slightly did Dark shake his head slightly, pick up a pen, and record the material ratio of this refinement, preparing to make adjustments after returning.
There wasn't enough time left to conduct another experiment.
He felt that his operation on the overall steps was quite decent; it was mainly the details that needed improvement.
The degree of deviation in the failed product in his hand was also larger than it appeared on the surface.
Because the "Transform" extracted by that failed product was a kind of "Transform" that merely changed shape without copying data—and it was incomplete.
Originally, he thought Ditto only had one [Transform] Ultimate Move, so as long as it succeeded, it would definitely be this one extracted. He hadn't expected...
"It might be that there was a problem with the mindset."
Dark recalled his words asking Ditto to recall the feeling of transforming, and he became slightly thoughtful.
"But these are all minor problems."
"This experiment has basically verified that letting the Magic Guide Spirit recall the Ultimate Move is helpful for the refinement of the [Ultimate Move Card]."
"Drawing inferences from this, does it mean that letting the Magic Guide Spirit recall an Ultimate Move not on the panel, but learned intracranially, can extract an Ultimate Move not on the panel?"
"This is a very good experimental direction!"
Dark quickly recorded his thoughts to prevent forgetting them.
...
Afterward, he reached out and teased Ditto, then began to clean up the experiment residues.
"Mang mang!"
Ditto smiled with a crooked mouth, extended a tentacle transforming it into the shape of a hand, and began to help clean up.
A few minutes later, everything was cleaned up.
Dark then leisurely observed the other students.
The students' experimental progress was uneven, but none were particularly fast.
Some students' progress was so slow that it would obviously drag on until after class.
There were also some students who were quite fast, but it looked like they hadn't mastered the core of the [Ultimate Move Card] refinement either.
After laughing, Diana and Rose hurriedly threw themselves back into their own experiments.
That moment of distraction just now almost caused their experiments to go down the drain.
And on that side.
Robert's experimental situation was unexpectedly better than Virt's.
Virt was currently performing remediation on the exploded cauldron, his face flustered.
Emma's ancient gold coins, meanwhile, were already missing one or two.
...
"Ding-ling-ling!"
When the class dismissal bell rang, the students' wails couldn't help but sound out.
Those who failed the experiment happily carried their schoolbags to the canteen.
Those whose experiments hadn't failed yet were anxiously waiting for the experiment to fail.
This was destined to be an anticlimactic experimental class.
Throughout the entire class, no one succeeded.
...
After the Potions class in the afternoon.
Dark took advantage of the fact that Professor Thompson hadn't left yet, hurriedly rushing up with his notebook to ask about some doubts regarding potion refinement that arose during the morning's experimental class one by one.
Thompson could be said to be the most normal professor in the first year.
He put down the textbook in his hand and began to explain patiently.
Dark took notes while listening.
A few keywords could constitute a paragraph.
About ten minutes later, he obtained the knowledge he wanted.
After that, he didn't trouble the professor anymore, but thought of ways to understand it himself.
...
That afternoon, he didn't head straight for the library but returned to the dormitory, starting the subsequent experiments directly in the dorm.
Drawing lessons from the Magic Guide Class, before doing the experiment, he communicated with Ditto in detail, asking it to pay attention to recalling the feeling of the [Transform] skill, rather than a normal transformation...
This experiment went quite smoothly, only the final result was still unsatisfactory.
Dark summoned DemiDevimon and let Ditto copy it using [Transform].
But the [Small Shuriken] released by Ditto after [Transform] was soft and weak, and its stats were obviously lower.
It was evident that this [Transform] was not one hundred percent either.
"So Ultimate Move Cards actually have a distinction between complete and incomplete..."
This discovery made Dark feel quite depressed.
But thinking carefully, it seemed that this was only reasonable.
He recorded the details of the steps of this experiment again, but prepared to switch to using Miltank's materials to practice.
Anyway, Miltank's core materials were inexhaustible. After excluding the cost of core materials, a material pack only cost 100 credits, allowing for deeper research through repeated experiments.
"Moo moo!"
Miltank extended its head to rub against his palm, then rubbed its hands together, rubbing out a bottle of milk, and affectionately handed its milk to Dark.
Dark drank it dry in one gulp, full of vigor.
And then he began the new experiment!
With the previous two experiments as a foundation, the process of this experiment was relatively smooth.
Miltank's "recall" was also very on point.
The result was a "success," finally refining an [Ultimate Move · Milk Drink]!
Dark immediately experimented with it.
Although this Ultimate Move Card also had defects, the effect of being able to recover 1/3 of magic power value was already very good.
[Milk Drink] and [Transform] were different types of skills after all.
Even after the skill effect of [Milk Drink] was reduced, it was still significant.
After the effect of [Transform] was reduced, it became a nondescript sludge monster...
Dark made persistent efforts and completed the remaining two experiments in one go.
The result was that the second [Ultimate Move · Milk Drink] refinement failed, but the third [Ultimate Move · Milk Drink] refinement succeeded. It could roughly recover 2/5 of magic power value, which was already very close to the strongest effect of 1/2!
Unfortunately, at this time, only one portion of the basic material pack remained in his hand...
Moreover, the material pack targeted for [Transform] was not the same in material ratio as [Milk Drink].
"I bought too little!"
Dark sighed, appearing to be unsatisfied.
He looked up slightly and noticed the time was already 9:30 PM.
Happy times are always short.
He had even forgotten to eat dinner.
...
"Wait for Friday!"
Dark did not continue the refinement experiment for the [Transform] Ultimate Move Card. Instead, he conducted theoretical analysis and summary based on the refinement steps and results of the [Milk Drink] Ultimate Move Card.
He prepared to wait until Friday, after buying more materials, to restart the refinement experiment for [Ultimate Move · Transform] once he had researched a perfect [Ultimate Move · Milk Drink].
...
In the blink of an eye, it was Tuesday.
Dark was still immersed in the research of the [Ultimate Move Card], unable to extricate himself, but a new storm had arrived.
In Tuesday's Dueling Class, Professor Jones praised the seven "duelists" and collected all the homework.
Then she put the thick stack of homework aside and began the sequential explanation targeting those seven duels!
The order of explanation followed the order of the matches.
Doron, bearing the brunt, was completely dazed!
People say a good start is "red" (lucky), and his was indeed a good start, just that the "red" was the "red" of blood!
Clearly, that disadvantageous Rookie Tournament debut had already been thrown to the back of his mind after he finished writing the analysis paper, yet Professor Jones insisted on bringing up old matters, making him recall the crushing defeat of his debut battle again.
Although it didn't reach the level of a public execution, he still pressed his lips together tightly and clenched his fists.
Next time, he would definitely win it back next time!
...(??v?v??)...
Sob sob.
...
Professor Jones's analysis was naturally more than a notch above the first-year students.
After his initial emotional outburst, Doron was drawn in by a few sentences, gaining a profound yet easy-to-understand comprehension of his mistakes and omissions during his debut battle.
In the homework he had just handed in, he attributed most of his defeat to the reason of not having a Second Tier Magic Guide Spirit.
Although that was indeed a major reason.
But he himself had not done his best in that duel either.
Professor Jones finally summed it up in one sentence: "At the beginning of your entry onto the stage, you never thought about winning. This is the biggest problem!"
This merciless remark made Little Doron's face turn white in waves.
But Professor Jones was not a soft person to begin with; this was also her teaching characteristic.
"I always say to view victory and defeat with a normal heart, neither arrogant in victory nor discouraged in defeat. Every victory and defeat is a baptism. Absorbing experience and becoming stronger is the destiny of a duelist."
"A duelist who doesn't want to win is not a good duelist."
Professor Jones's teaching was resounding.
While Doron's face was pale, Virt Gold, sitting by the door in the last row of the classroom, also turned pale with a "swish."
Professor Jones's criticism of Doron not only pierced Doron's heart but also crossed dimensions, piercing Virt's heart until it was riddled with holes!
"Virt, what's wrong with you?"
Robert saw his expression was wrong and hurriedly asked.
Virt was in a trance for a moment, and subconsciously said, "Nothing."
Robert: "Hey, you don't look like nothing's wrong."
Virt forced a smile: "Look at my bright smile, the weather today is really nice."
Robert: "Uh, wouldn't it be better to use handsome to describe it?"
Virt: "..."
Regardless, Robert's gag still allowed Virt to feel some relief.
He widened his eyes and continued to listen to the class.
...
Outside the window, a light rain pattered; inside the window, voices trickled.
After analyzing Doron's duel, Professor Jones began to analyze Diana's duel.
The students listened more and more seriously.
...
