Chapter 191: Dark Demon's Unintentional Mistake
Dark glanced at the staircase between the male and female sides, feeling that going upstairs at this moment would ruin the atmosphere too much.
So he gave a slight nod to Diana and Rose, then turned and walked towards the corner of the male side—where Doron and his friends were.
The male-female ratio for first-year students in Noble House was nearly 1:1, so there were only about a dozen first-year boys in the corner; a few others were probably still out on Traveler's Street, braving the cold wind.
"Hey, Dark, you're finally back!"
As soon as Doron spotted Dark, he quickly waved him over.
Dark smiled and slipped into the crowd, and a classmate moved a backpack that was occupying a seat, clearing a spot for him.
"When did this start?" Dark whispered.
Doron, like a spy deep in enemy territory, said furtively, "It's been like this ever since we got back from dinner. The atmosphere was even more tense back then, like a battlefield; we didn't dare make a sound."
Dark: "So what exactly are they doing?"
Doron: "It's called something like the Fledgling Protection Initiative, organized to prevent junior students from getting carried away by the romantic atmosphere of Christmas."
Dark: "Isn't that a good starting point?"
Doron: "I heard it was indeed like that at first, but then something happened that caused the initiative to sour."
Dark: "What happened?"
Doron: "Isn't it embarrassing to not have a partner for the Christmas Ball? So, a senior student, to save face, specifically went after a junior girl who had a crush on him. But as soon as the ball ended, he dumped her! The girl took it badly and almost jumped from the castle! It caused a huge sensation at the time!"
Dark exclaimed in surprise, "Something like that happened?"
Doron glanced left and right, whispering, "The incident is true, but it's a bit different from the rumors."
Dark: "How so?"
Doron: "Actually, the girl in that incident is a cousin of mine who only graduated a few years ago. With her tyrannosaurus-like temper, how could she possibly jump from a building? It's good enough that she didn't throw that senior student off the building!"
Dark's expression was odd: "So, the one who was almost pushed off the building was actually that senior student?"
Doron: "Exactly. Anyway, as things have developed, it's unclear who the aggressor and who the victim really were. The Fledgling Protection Initiative also gradually deteriorated; any boy who approaches gets chased out! Ugh, I was originally hoping to find a girl to team up with, but now that's out the window..."
Dark blinked and said, "Look on the bright side. Aren't other people unable to find dance partners either?"
Doron suddenly paused, then clapped his hands and exclaimed, "That's right! If no one has one, then no one will be embarrassed!"
Brilliant!
...
Just as they were talking, a girl from the female side stood up, encouraged by her senior classmates.
The girl had rather rare pink hair, and her skin was fair with a rosy glow, as if dewy.
On her slightly round face, her features were especially delicate, her eyelashes remarkably long, and she had a timid appearance, as if she might burst into tears if poked.
"Isn't that Eudora?"
Doron exclaimed in surprise.
Eudora was the youngest female first-year student in Noble House; she had just turned 11, and had been sent to St. Marian early due to an incident of magic power loss of control.
Doron's friend, the chubby boy Pistan, whispered, "I didn't expect Eudora to be so bold, daring to act with so many people watching. If it were me, I'd definitely wait until tomorrow morning to do it secretly..."
Hearing him say that, Doron suddenly became nervous.
His earlobes flushed visibly, and he quickly shook his head, "No way, I haven't even spoken to her."
The chubby boy Pistan patted him on the shoulder and said with relief, "Brother, everyone has their lucky moments. Eudora is a good girl."
"This..."
Doron suddenly realized that Eudora seemed to truly be walking towards them, and he suddenly understood a little.
Although he hadn't paid much attention before, now that he looked closely, Eudora was really cute.
If she's really coming for me, should I accept?
But does she really like me?
Ugh!
...
Watching Doron act like a young girl, Dark couldn't help but smile.
That innocent romance between junior boys and girls made one want to offer blessings.
However, the difference between the male and female sides was truly vast.
The female side didn't allow boys to approach, yet encouraged their own girls to bravely express themselves.
The male side, however, only passively accepted, completely disorganized.
Even a few seemingly experienced senior boys were just watching the show.
In any case, Eudora, with a shy expression, walked into the "wolf pack," and then truly headed towards this corner.
She even stopped in front of their table.
She held her head down, gripping an invitation tightly, her toes trembling slightly.
The scene suddenly became quiet.
Doron was completely excited, his feigned serious expression almost giving way.
As the saying goes, a man pursuing a woman faces a mountain, while a woman pursuing a man faces merely a veil.
Doron had clearly never paid much attention to Eudora, but as soon as Eudora showed a little initiative, he couldn't resist.
Many of the first-year boys showed expressions of envy.
Some even gnashed their teeth, wishing they could tear him apart.
And Doron, on the other hand, wished he could snatch the invitation from Eudora's hand immediately!
"H-hello, I'm Eudora!"
Eudora suddenly spoke.
She spoke softly, as if introducing herself, still keeping her head down, not daring to look up, her dewy face flushed crimson.
Doron was a little flustered, wanting to reply.
Eudora suddenly raised her hand and offered the pink invitation, adorned with hearts and a Christmas tree, that she held!
"I...!"
Doron's words suddenly caught in his throat.
He turned his poorly maintained neck-axis like a rusty robot, his gaze shifting slightly along the line of Eudora's extended arm.
Dark: "Uh..."
...
"Crash!"
From the female side.
A poor glass fell to the ground.
"Ah!"
Rose was startled and quickly took out a towel to help clean up the water on the floor.
Although the glass cracked, there weren't many shards.
It just startled people.
Diana fumbled, crouching down, losing her mood to watch what was happening over there.
Rose couldn't help but complain, "You're too careless."
Diana pouted.
Rose then added, "During Halloween, didn't you help deliver many reply letters?"
Diana: "Oh, that's right!"
She suddenly perked up.
Dark and Eudora hadn't even exchanged a single word, how could he possibly accept!
This ball wouldn't have a princess causing trouble!
It's a sure thing.
