Chapter 188: Claire Kite's Last Lecture

Back in the dormitory.

Dark placed DemiDevimon on the bed, covered him with the quilt, and then went into the bathroom to take a shower.

The hot water streamed down, slowly waking him up.

Reflecting on the day.

Aside from an unexpected increase in [Lust], his research into the Fusion spell had deepened.

Over the next two days, he needed to seize the time to continue his research and perfect the last remaining part of the spell.

If he could complete the drafting by Friday noon, he could ask the senior out again for their first Fusion card alchemy experiment!

He planned to decide on his Christmas gift for the senior after that.

"Drip-drop."

The sound of dripping water gradually ceased.

Dark emerged from the bathroom, soothed the three Cat Grass, then slipped under the covers and lay down to read for a while.

He only gradually drifted off to sleep after his hair had air-dried.

...

The next day was Thursday.

Dark arrived at the common room as usual.

As soon as winter arrived, the magic flames in the fireplace burned continuously, making the common room always warm and inviting, attracting more and more students to stay there.

Sometimes, when Dark arrived a little late, he would find two or three people already inside, reading books or newspapers.

But in the early morning, everyone was in low spirits and wouldn't casually strike up conversations.

Today's "The Great Sage Daily" still focused on Christmas-related topics.

However, St. Marian Academy was rarely mentioned.

Perhaps because the Halloween incident had indeed caused some adverse effects, the academy was trying to avoid suspicion. In contrast.

The Sacred Teachings Arcane Academy almost monopolized most of the news space during this period.

Christmas, as the name suggests, is a day to celebrate the birth of the "Saint."

The "Saint," so-called, is both "God" and "Man."

In the Sacred Church's scriptures, the "Saint" was the first human.

Named "Holy," he was one of the oldest deities.

Before His advent, there were no "humans" in the world.

It was only after His advent that the first "human" appeared in the world, who was He Himself.

He is the beginning of "humanity" and also its source.

He is the progenitor of all humanity in the world!

The most core theory within the Sacred Church's secret scriptures is the "Theology of Divine Humanity."

It means that humans are descendants of God, and divine blood flows in the veins of every person.

Built upon this theory is the doctrine of "Human Supremacy."

Meaning that, besides God, the most noble race in the world by bloodline is humanity!

Thus, the Sacred Church is a staunch advocate of human purebloodism.

It opposes all foreign races and mixed-bloods, holds deep-seated contempt for demi-humans, and believes that demi-humans are inferior species only fit to grovel at humanity's feet.

During the war, to jointly resist the powerful Demon Race, humanity and demi-humans signed the "Treaty of the Hundred Races Alliance," and the Sacred Church was its strongest opponent.

However, as the war situation gradually worsened, the Sacred Church was ultimately forced to "endure humiliation" and sign what they considered an extremely humiliating alliance treaty.

Thus, as soon as the war ended.

Waves of "tearing up the treaty" openly emerged within the Sacred Church.

The reason why the Sacred Church could reach a consensus with the hawks led by First Prince Charles was precisely this.

In comparison.

St. Marian Academy, however, had a very friendly attitude towards demi-humans, diametrically opposed to the philosophy of the Sacred Church.

Many professors within the academy were even demi-humans or mixed-bloods.

The conflict between the two sides on this matter was almost irreconcilable.

...

This year's Christmas.

The Sacred Church, in conjunction with the Sacred Teachings Arcane Academy, would hold a massive mass in the cathedral. First Prince Charles would lead a group of nobles to participate, using this to propagate their shared stance.

...

That afternoon.

Claire, in the last ten minutes of her Magic History class, informed the students that her future itinerary was uncertain.

"If I can't make up my mind, then today might very well be the last time we meet."

Her tone was calm, without any particular reluctance.

But the students were clearly much more agitated; most of them thought she would continue teaching until she took over as Dean of Fool's House, as she was so well-suited for it.

"Professor, have we not met your expectations?"

A student from Magic House raised their hand and asked.

Claire was slightly surprised by her question and couldn't help but chuckle, "No, all of you are excellent, except for a few individual students."

The few students who had once been turned into piglets immediately lowered their heads.

Claire said softly, "It's just that everyone has their own itinerary. Some people like to stay in one place for a long time, while others are naturally unsuited to staying anywhere for too long. St. Marian is just one stop on my journey. I haven't yet decided if I want to stay at this stop for a long time."

A student from Fool's House immediately raised their hand: "Then, Professor, will you participate in this year's Christmas celebration?"

Claire shook her head slightly: "I'm sorry I can't spend a warm Christmas here with you all. I have someone else I need to accompany, and she's crying because she has to spend this Christmas alone."

Dark covered his forehead.

Sara Swati from Magic House raised her hand and said, "Professor, I really like you. I hope you can stay!"

Claire smiled faintly: "I like you very much too."

Sara immediately sat down, her face flushed.

Emma from Knight House then raised her hand: "Professor Claire, if you don't come next semester, who will replace you?"

Claire thought for a moment: "I haven't asked Cynthia, but I expect she won't disappoint you."

...

Amidst numerous questions and answers, ten minutes passed in the blink of an eye.

When the bell rang, Claire waved goodbye to her students, leaving no piglets behind this time.

Dark quickly picked up his satchel and, at her subtle signal, followed her out.

The classroom, meanwhile, erupted into chaos due to this unexpected news.

Walking down the wide corridor, Claire spoke: "I'm leaving tomorrow noon. How's your gift coming along?"

Dark nodded: "It's ready."

Claire: "Then bring it to my dorm tonight. Don't worry, I won't peek."

Dark's face darkened. "If you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have even thought you'd peek. Should I translate it into Morse code when I get back?"

He asked, "Aunt Claire, are you really not going to reconsider?"

Claire: "I'm going back to think about it, aren't I?"

Dark pursed his lips, knowing that the matter was likely to fall through.

Such indecision indicated that deep down, she didn't have a profound resolve to stay.

Even if she stayed at Cynthia's suggestion, it wouldn't be a decision entirely made by herself.

Dark didn't want Claire to make a choice against her own wishes just to look after him.

It seemed he really needed to add something to that "family letter."

He just wondered who the Magic History professor would be next semester.

He pondered for a moment, then asked, "Will you continue traveling?"

Claire glanced at him, the corners of her mouth slightly upturned: "I plan to rest for two or three years first. If I don't return to teach at the academy next semester, I'll just leech off your place."

Dark breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Claire continued: "Oh, by the way, your Christmas gift is already stored with Cynthia."
