When Gaara released Shukaku, the entire Konoha Village descended into chaos.
Countless Sand Shinobi and Sound Ninja appeared throughout the village, slaughtering the villagers.
In all four directions of the village, there were four three-headed snakes attacking Konoha's outer wall.
Although the Sand and Sound forces were aggressive, Konoha's strength was not to be underestimated. Even in such an emergency, the ninjas maintained orderly formations.
When the Sand Shinobi and Sound Ninja launched their assault, it only took a short time before countless Anbu emerged from every corner of the village to stop the destruction.
Among them, several figures stood out.
One was like a gust of wind, constantly weaving between the Sand and Sound Shinobi, taking lives with a flash of blades.
The invaders only caught a breeze passing by—and then fell, clutching their necks!
Faintly, one could hear a slightly morbid, yet extremely happy voice.
"! Ahem!"
After killing the enemy, the figure vanished immediately, moving with exceptional lightness.
Meanwhile, in another area, flames and loud explosions resounded.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
As soon as the Sand Shinobi entered this area, it seemed some trap was triggered—causing a series of violent explosions that blew away the invading forces on the street.
It appeared as though the entire street had been planted with explosive tags!
Seeing this, a Sand Ninja commander's expression darkened as his subordinates hesitated.
"Don't be afraid! Charge! I don't believe they have that many explosive tags!" he shouted.
They thought it through—thousands of tags had already detonated.
No matter how wealthy Konoha was, it shouldn't be able to squander resources like that.
They assumed the earlier blast was just a bluff, and the following attacks wouldn't be as fierce.
The Sand Shinobi exchanged glances, nodded, and charged again.
Unexpectedly, this time the explosions were even more intense than before—instantly wiping out everyone in the vicinity.
"Ah, what a convenient ability!"
From a residential building, Yamato leaned lazily against the window, watching the scene unfold while tossing objects from above.
Before him stood a thick tree stump, over a meter tall, with fruits the size of a human head continuously growing from it.
Yamato casually plucked the fruits and tossed them outside.
As soon as they hit the ground, they sprouted long, thin legs and scurried toward crowds.
All Yamato had to do was feed Chakra into the stump once its energy was depleted—he barely needed to move at all.
Not only Gekkō Hayate and Yamato, but all the Anbu who had previously visited Haruto's Golden Egg Shop and smashed eggs were performing brilliantly in battle.
While they weren't all one-man armies, each was easily holding off ten enemies alone.
In the zone assigned to Mozuku Isamu, the battlefield transformed into an ice purgatory—freezing all invaders—with a violet flower blooming proudly at its center.
Elsewhere, a brawny man grabbed a Sand Shinobi with both hands and ripped him apart, splattering blood everywhere. The nearby enemies were so horrified that they dared not approach.
Above the battlefield, Baki watched the situation with a deep frown.
Konoha's resistance far exceeded expectations. It was completely unreasonable.
Despite having given the signal to attack long ago, not a single team had broken through the defensive perimeter.
Konoha had fully activated its defense protocol, sealing off the village. No one could enter or leave.
If the invaders couldn't reach the center, neither Maki, Gaara, the other two, nor the Kazekage could retreat.
Even the giant snakes attacking from outside the walls couldn't break through the defenses—causing Baki to grow increasingly anxious.
Of the four giant snakes: one was being held off by Morino Ibiki, the first exam proctor. Another was engaged by Mitarashi Anko, the second exam proctor.
The remaining two were left to Kakashi Hatake and Might Guy—one each.
By now, Kakashi and Guy had concluded their fights and were cleaning up scattered enemies.
Ibiki had also gained the upper hand and would soon defeat his target.
The only one struggling was Anko.
Though she and her team had managed to restrain the snake, they couldn't kill it and had been beaten back severely.
"What should I do?" Anko thought, flustered.
Even though Haruto had privately taught her numerous useful jutsu, her current strength wasn't enough to unleash their full potential.
The barrier around her was weakening rapidly—on the verge of collapse—and she had no way to stop it.
Just as it looked hopeless, a voice echoed from the sky.
"Ninjutsu: Summoning Technique!"
"Stage Suppression!"
"Boom!"
A massive shadow dropped from above, crashing onto the three-headed snake, crushing it with such force that it vomited blood and died instantly.
"Hey, little Anko, miss your uncle?" a teasing, familiar voice called out.
"What's that voice?" Anko's heart skipped a beat. She looked up quickly.
The black shadow was a massive toad—and perched on its head was a ragged-looking white-haired old man!
"Oh, it's the pervy uncle!" Upon seeing him, Anko beamed with delight.
But she still snapped, "Why do you have panda eyes? Were you caught peeking at someone in the bath again?!"
"What?!" the man shouted in shock. He quickly pulled out a small mirror from his robes, only to realize he'd been tricked.
"You little brat! Haven't seen you in years and now you're a smooth talker?" The pervy sage leapt down and flicked her forehead.
"Ow, that hurt, Master Jiraiya!" Anko rubbed her head and pouted. "I'm just a weak woman!"
"Haha!" Jiraiya laughed heartily, then turned to the village, face serious.
"I didn't expect to arrive this late…" he murmured. "I wonder how the old man's doing. I must stop Orochimaru no matter what."
He had caught wind of the alliance between Orochimaru and Sunagakure while traveling and rushed back immediately—but still arrived slightly too late.
"If you're worried about Lord Third, you can probably relax now," Anko said, sensing his concern.
"Hm? What do you mean?" Jiraiya looked at her in surprise.
