The faint buzz of his apartment intercom snapped him out of his haze, and he struggled to his feet, his body protesting as he made his way to the door.
Emily stood there, her expression cool and professional, her dark eyes scanning him briefly before settling on the container in his hand.
"This it?"
She asked, her voice calm, no-nonsense as always. Adrian nodded, his throat tight.
"Get to Yu as fast as you can…"
He said, his voice hoarse but urgent.
"Feed him this. It's… it's what he needs."
He handed her the container, the warmth of it still lingering from his body, and Emily took it without hesitation, her face betraying no suspicion.
"On it."
She said simply, tucking the container into her bag. With a bow, she turned and left, her footsteps quick and purposeful as she disappeared down the hall.
