The final image of the man sitting beneath the newly created rune remained carved into the wall before us, and I was still trying to understand what I had just witnessed when something unexpected happened.
A faint tremor travelled through the stone.
I immediately turned toward the mural.
The carvings began changing.
At first I thought the ancient inscriptions were simply reacting to the presence of my Generator Core, but then the image itself began moving, the old scenes fading into the stone while new ones emerged farther along the wall. Lines of characters appeared one after another, spreading across the enormous surface until another chapter of the man's story revealed itself.
This time, he was standing in an endless void. There was nothing around him. Only an immeasurable darkness stretching in every direction.
And in his hand was the rune. The same rune he had created.
My eyes narrowed as I stepped closer.
"What is he doing now?" Lyrate whispered.
