Chapter 13 - Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild

The black portal pulled in Yami before he could even curse.

For a brief instant, he felt like he was floating in space.

Then—

THUD!

He crashed his head against some hardness.

".Ow."

Rolling over on the ground, he noticed he wasn't in the forest anymore. He is lying on a cobblestone paved street, and there are human beings in close proximity—at least actual human beings.

Men and women in armours and robes came before him, some carrying swords and others carrying magic staffs. Some adventurers we arguing over rewards, and merchants shouted about their wares.

It was a highly vibrant fantasy town, like out of a video game.

Yami smiled. "Okay. Now this is more like it."

Then he noticed another thing.

Everyone was staring at him.

Some were baffled, some were suspicious. Some muttered amongst themselves.

Yami gazed down at himself. His clothes had been torn to strips and caked in dried blood from the creatures in the dungeon. His gauntlet in black pulsed disturbing energy, and his scythes still clipped at his back.

He probably looked like a walking demon.

Before things could truly start to get sticky, someone yelled out—

"Oi! You there!"

Yami observed a man in armor approaching him. His chestplate had a badge engraved upon it—a form of official identification.

"Where the hell did you come from!" he yelled. "You just popped out out of thin air!"

Yami scratched his head. "Uh. long story?"

The man scowled. "Splendid. A deadbeat. If you are an adventurer, come out with your guild card."

".My what now?"

The man's eyelash fluttered. "Are you saying you're one of them imbeciles who have come in without enrolling?"

Before Yami could say anything, another voice interrupted—

"Haha! Looks like we have a newbie!" A young man with silvery hair walked towards them, radiant. He had a cloak wrapped in black and had daggers secured at his waist. A woman who had pointed, fox-like ears walked after him and gazed at Yami curiously.

The man patted Yami on the back. "You're a newbie, are ye? Without a guild card at that. Then let me tell ye where to go—"

He gestured to a nearby monolith-like stone structure. A wood placard at the entrance had painted on it:

"Adventurer's Guild."

Yami grinned.

Now this… this is when things really heated up.
