Enhancement Potion!
"Come out, Charizard, Pidgeot!"
After gathering the necessary information, Chihong stepped out of the Pokémon Center with Gengar by his side. He made his way toward a quiet, secluded park on the edge of Black Cloud City—a perfect location with almost no passersby in sight. After confirming that no one was watching, he took out two Poké Balls and released Charizard and Pidgeot.
"Rooaaar!"
"Pidgeot!"
With a flash of red light, the towering figures of Charizard and Pidgeot appeared before Chihong and Gengar. Their majestic presence dominated the empty surroundings.
Charizard looked around, his eyes scanning for any opponents. However, when he saw none, he turned to Chihong with a confused expression. The fierce fire-type Pokémon tilted his head, as if asking, "Why did you summon us if there's no battle?"
Pidgeot also looked puzzled, her elegant wings twitching slightly. She seemed to question the same thing: if there was no travel or battle involved, what was the purpose of calling them out?
Chihong chuckled at their reactions.
"Charizard, Pidgeot," he said calmly, "I didn't summon you to fight or travel today. I've brought you something special—something that can boost your strength significantly."
"Rooaar?" (Something good to boost strength? That sounds interesting.)
"Pidgeot?" (Really? But why just us? What about Squirtle and Beedrill?)
Charizard and Pidgeot turned to each other, clearly intrigued but also confused. They had gotten used to Chihong occasionally pulling out rare items or mysterious tools, but this time felt different. They were the only ones summoned, which left them wondering about their teammates.
Thanks to the Aura power he had recently acquired, even though it was still at a beginner's level, Chihong could now understand roughly 30% of the Elvish—or Pokémon—language. Their speech, gestures, and expressions were no longer a mystery to him.
"Don't worry," Chihong reassured them with a smile. "Squirtle still needs to evolve, and as for Beedrill—he's going to get something unique, just like you two."
"Rooaaar."
"Pidgeot~."
The two Pokémon nodded in understanding. As team members, they weren't interested in hoarding benefits. Instead, they always hoped their companions would share equally. Now that they knew everyone would eventually get something, they felt more at ease.
"Alright," Chihong said, opening his system interface. "Let's get started."
He accessed the Elf System Mall and navigated to the section containing enhancement items. Today, he was going to invest in Individual Value Enhancement Potions—an item that could permanently increase a Pokémon's stats.
Charizard had near-perfect individual values in every stat except speed. He needed two speed-enhancing potions to max out. (Note: Each potion increases a single IV by one point.)
Pidgeot was in a similar situation. Her defense stat was slightly lacking, so she needed two potions as well.
Gengar's stats were nearly perfect, except for a minor gap in defense. Just one potion would do for him.
Pikachu was the most in need. While his offensive stats and speed were maxed, his defense and special defense still lacked two and three points respectively. In total, Pikachu needed six potions.
That brought the total to eleven potions.
"System," Chihong said firmly, "buy eleven Individual Value Enhancement Potions."
"Understood," the system replied. "Each potion costs 500 points. Eleven potions will cost 5,500 points in total. Confirm purchase?"
"Pay."
Without a hint of hesitation, Chihong confirmed the transaction. These potions were indeed expensive, but the long-term value they provided made the price well worth it. For Chihong, who had accumulated over 13,000 points, spending 5,500 wasn't a big deal—especially when he knew he could easily earn more through battles.
Points were meant to be spent. Hoarding them for no reason would be pointless. As long as he kept winning battles, Chihong believed he would never run out.
It's important to note: in this world, a Pokémon's individual values—also known as IVs—were believed to be fixed from birth. No known training or experience could alter them. Once a Pokémon was born, their potential was set in stone.
But Chihong had something no one else did: a system plug-in.
This system added a unique, hidden effect to every Pokémon he caught. When these Pokémon evolved, they gained an additional +2 bonus to random individual values. This made it possible for his Pokémon to reach 6V—the maximum individual value level—without relying solely on enhancement potions.
So if a Pokémon caught by Chihong already had high base stats, it was possible for them to max out simply by evolving. This made his entire team far more efficient and powerful than the average trainer's.
"Charizard, this is yours. Pidgeot, this one's for you. Pikachu, and Gengar—yours too."
Chihong handed out the enhancement potions, each contained in a glowing vial.
Looking at the potion in his claws, Charizard sniffed it with curiosity. He didn't recognize it and tilted his head again.
"Rooaaar?" (What is this? Candy? How do I use it?)
"It's simple," Chihong explained. "Just eat it like an energy block. The potion will do the rest. It will automatically be absorbed into your body. You don't need to do anything."
"Rooaaar."
"Pidgeot~."
"Pika~!"
Gengar, Pikachu, Charizard, and Pidgeot each raised their vials and drank the potion in one go. The moment the liquid touched their tongues, it transformed into a glowing ball of energy that flowed down into their stomachs.
Before they could even chew or taste it, the potion had already been absorbed.
Their bodies began to emit a faint glow as the potion took effect.
Whooosh... whooosh... whooosh...
One by one, their bodies started undergoing minute transformations. Muscle density, reaction time, inner energy flow—everything improved subtly but significantly. The change wasn't dramatic like evolution, but it was undeniable.
Several minutes passed in silence. The glowing aura around the Pokémon slowly faded.
Chihong checked the system interface once more.
[Status: Charizard - All IVs Maxed]
[Status: Pidgeot - All IVs Maxed]
[Status: Gengar - All IVs Maxed]
[Status: Pikachu - All IVs Maxed]
A grin stretched across Chihong's face.
"This is the power of the system," he muttered. "This is what it feels like to cheat."
He now had four Pokémon with full 6V stats—a feat unheard of in the world of Pokémon training. And it wouldn't stop there.
Squirtle was next. Once he evolved into Blastoise, he too would receive the hidden +2 IV reward. With some more training and maybe one or two more potions, Squirtle would join the elite group.
That would make six fully maxed Pokémon. A perfect team.
Chihong's eyes gleamed with ambition.
"In this world, Pokémon with full stats don't exist outside of the legends," he whispered. "If they do, they're either divine beasts or extremely rare anomalies."
That was the truth. Even having a Pokémon with 5V was considered a stroke of fortune. Trainers would devote their lives to finding or breeding just one. And here he was—casually producing them one after another.
This wasn't just power.
It was dominance.
"Charizard, Pidgeot, Pikachu, Gengar… from this point forward, your potential is no longer bound by what this world considers normal."
He looked at each of his Pokémon—loyal, powerful, and now more capable than ever before.
"Let's aim higher. With these stats, maybe you'll even reach the level of the legendary Pokémon someday. And not because of your bloodline—but because we fought for it."
The four Pokémon responded with eager roars, chirps, and cries.
"Roaaaar!"
"Pidgeot!"
"Pika-Pika!"
"Gengaaaaar!"
Their eyes were burning with determination, confidence, and an almost electric anticipation of what the future held.
With this, Chihong had taken another step forward on the path to becoming the greatest Pokémon trainer of all time.
And the world had no idea what was coming.
