A heads up, this novel isn't dropped. I have been waiting for One Piece to give me a good indication of how strong Shanks and Mihawk are. Currently, all I have are guesses, which are around the peak of Whitebeard. Seeing as Shanks' Haki was compared to someone like Joyboy, Shanks should be up there amongst the strongest people, right?
If Mihawk was his rival, but once Shanks lost a hand, Shanks could no longer keep up, what does that mean for Mihawk? I'm thinking of just going original, simply giving people stats that would allow them to stand amongst the strongest or not.
For Example, Whitebeard's attack stats would be unmatched. His attack power and area of effect attacks would leave him as the strongest person in the world without a rival.
Kaido, on the other hand, would be known as the strongest creator since his durability makes it almost impossible to hurt him.
Mihawk would have the best observation Haki, allowing him to cut anything if he tries. I remember Mihawk saying something like A swordsman's Observation Haki is the most important thing,
Shanks' Conqueror Haki would be unmatched. I think it's interesting how it was said that Joyboy Haki MIGHT be stronger than Shanks. It was also said that Shanks' rage was something the world wasn't ready to face. Shanks to me, I think Shanks was supposed to be the next Joyboy, but he rejected it.
In a Weekly Shōnen Jump Q&A, Oda revealed that the technique Divine Departure, used by Roger and then by Shanks against Kid, was not formally taught. Instead, Shanks learned it simply by observing Roger. This is what Oda said.
"He remembered it because he always looked up to Roger. It's not just something that anyone from the Roger Pirates can imitate, so Shanks' talent is quite astonishing."
Oda emphasized that no other member of Roger's crew could replicate that technique. That fact alone "makes Shanks's talent truly surprising."
Aokiji is like Garp, just weaker. I would say that the two were somewhat equal during their battle... but how strong was Garp in his prime then? So, Aokiji has to be a step below the likes of Whitebeard since Garp and Whitebeard were equals back in their prime. Remember how they struggled against an old Whitebeard who was far past his prime?
With all of this in mind, I would say the 3 admirals are weaker than beings like Whitebeard, Shanks, and Mihawk. But they are about on the same level of power as Kaido, since Kaido is mainly a tank, and Kaido is all about taking attacks and getting up. He is an unkillable monster, but isn't as fast or flexible as many others out there. For example, in a battle between Kaido and Kizaru, it would be even. Kizaru would struggle to hurt Kaido, and Kaido should be stronger to even hit Kizaru. It would be a battle that would last days.
Mihawk and Shanks are on the same level of power as Prime Whitebeard. I think a battle of the two goes something like this. Shanks uses his Conqueror to kill Mihawk's observation Haki, which would lead to a battle of pure mastery of Swordsmanship, since I picture Shanks focusing his Haki on blocking Mihawk's observation Haki. So, it's a pure body of everything but Haki.
