Music could be heard from outside a room, and small explosions occasionally covered the music.
Opening the room door, the Ancient One headed inside, his usual calm expression mixed with a bit of annoyance.
"Adrian."
I ignored the sound and continued controlling the mana to try and create a shirt made out of purely mana strings, failing once again when I tried to add details to said shirt.
" Adrian."
So this time I put even more focus and used all of my fingers, each controlling a different type of string, I wasn't having any cramp, only thanks to my advanced dexterity, each string weaved beautifully with each other, creating patterns that would have been invisible to the naked eyes, when I tried adding an enchantment though the blew right into my face, forcing me to start again.
" ADRIAN."
I was forced out of my focus just when I finally accomplished my objective and created a shirt made purely of mana with several enchantments.
" It's me, what can I do for you?" I said after storing the shirt in my inventory, making a mental note to check it out at a later moment.
" While I find growth one of the greatest things any human can experience, I find it rather customary to do so in normal human hours."
" It's morning, though."
" It's 4 AM."
"Did I wake Mary up?" That being my only concern.
" No, she still has the soundproof sleeping mask you made for her, and considering how she knows your hours best, she uses it every night."
Sighing in relief, I started stretching my body, it had been a while from the party at the Fantastic Four new base, but the meeting with the mutant still felt fresh in my mind, though dealing with Scott had been easy, the same coulden't have been for the others, I was aware that if they had decided to fight I would have lost, quite miserably at that, portals are broken, sure, but they also have a teleporter on their side, and a telepath able to just erase my mind.
Sighing at my antics, the Ancient One looked around the room I had taken as a laboratory to work on my spells and magical items, spells that mostly resulted in failure, or magical items that exploded right in my face, I can't even remember how many rings I destroyed when trying to discover the maximum amount of enchantment I can put into one based on the material and gem it was made with.
But it's not like I hadn't made any progress.

All items have been granted the mending effect.

It was incredible how you could buy with gold stolen from the base of Terrorists, what wasn't incredible was the amount of scammers that try selling you pure gold rings only to be just covered in gold and not made with it, thankfully newest perks granted me the ability to feel even the tinest irregularity in any item I hold, so with my boosted mind I can calculate how much a golden ring should weight and if my hand don't feel that weight I leave it be and go to another store.
" You are doing it again." The Ancient One brought me back to reality.
" What?"
" Losing yourself to your mind."
" When do I ever do that?"
" Just yesterday, you stayed still for 14 hours because you wanted to create a new spell."
Talking about my spells, Nature's awareness makes me able to see through any plant nearby, the more mana I spend, the higher my range, create poison is quite explanatory, and the more mana I pour, the stronger the poison is, Adrenaline Shot is the physical boosting I had used with blood mana until this moment made into a spells.
" You are doing it again."
" Well, sorry, I just think too much sometimes, but I have so many ideas and so little time."
" That is something every human experiences, the inexorable end of time, the best way to not feel like you have wasted your time is to just not think about it and take pleasure in the present."
"That's easy to say, I still feel so weak." My mouth clenched, my weakness disgusted me and I worried about the safety of those dear to me.
" You have grown beyond what everyone had expected, you created a spell able to bring the dead back to life, you have become part of nature itself, don't sell yourself short dead Adrian, you are not weak it's your enemies that are strong, but you are growing, and you will always do so, they can reach their limit, you can't."
That was something to think about. From what I had seen to this point, I had limitless potential in whatever I did, so I had to live long enough, and I could theoretically become the strongest being in the universe, but if it was already too late at that point?
" How about you go hug Mary for me and rest a bit, this way other people can sleep too."
I stopped myself from immediately saying no, part of my mind thinking of it as a waste of time, the other thought made me realise that I hadn't hugged Mary for quite a long time.
" Fine."
Going out of the room, I didn't see the expression on the Ancient One's face, a mix of worry and pride.
"He is growing faster than expected."
Those words were only heard by him, my mind already feeling relaxed at the idea of hugging my favourite thing in the universe, my daughter.
