Chapter 9 - Rebecca Identity

After a while, they left the inn and began walking around the city. The scenery was beautiful, with cobblestone streets and a grand palace visible in the distance.

The two of them strolled around, looking for the court to inquire about buying a house and the taxes required to become residents.

When they arrived at the court, they approached the counter and asked about the process of purchasing a house.

They were told there were three types of residences: one for nobles or rich people, which came with royal protection; the second was a modest one near the city's facilities; and the third was a bit farther from the town.

"So, where should we buy, Master?"

Without hesitation, Farrel replied, "The most expensive one. Don't worry about the money; I have more than you think."

The seller, hearing this, quickly handed over the documents for them to sign. The total cost, including taxes, was about 500,000 silver coins, roughly 50,000 platinum or 5,000 gold.

Since this world was filled with magic, payment was easily transferred using their identity cards. After completing the payment, a carriage arrived to take them to their new house.

The house was located very close to the palace, in an area filled with noble residents. Only wealthy young people could afford to buy houses there. The people didn't seem surprised, as someone accompanied by a maid was naturally assumed to be rich.

After arriving at the residence, someone opened the carriage door and placed a footstep for them. A group of people had gathered.

The package included one servant, so Farrel had to choose one of them. All the servants stood straight, waiting to be selected.

"So, who should we choose, Rebecca?"

All the servants looked at her as she stepped down, and they seemed shocked, as if they recognized her.

Rebecca, standing behind Farrel, simply smiled.

"It's your choice, Master. I'm okay with anybody."

Farrel looked at all the servants. They were sweating, as if they didn't want to be chosen, but one person caught his attention—a girl with white hair and slightly tattered clothes.

He kept looking at her.

"I will choose this one."

Everyone else breathed a sigh of relief for not being chosen.

"Ahem..."

Rebecca cleared her throat, and all the servants immediately stood straight again. Then, they bowed and quickly left.

The deal was settled. They could move in and sleep there the next day, as the house needed a little cleaning. Farrel asked the servant her name.

"Hello, what's your name?"

"My name is Quiraa, sir!!!"

Farrel's ears rang from her loud voice.

"Relax, just talk slowly. I can hear you, you know. Today, take care of this house. We'll come back tomorrow."

They then left the house, but the people kept staring at them, making Farrel feel uncomfortable.

"Rebecca, are you sure you don't know why people keep watching us?"

Rebecca shook her head, but her expression suggested she was lying. Farrel didn't want to press further, so they continued walking around the city.

Suddenly, a group of knights on horses passed through the middle of the road. It seemed like they had just returned from outside. Their majestic armor indicated they were escorting someone important.

Gradually, people began bowing to avoid any conflicts, so Farrel also bowed. However, the carriage suddenly stopped in front of them.

"Ugh, what now?"

Farrel's mind raced with possibilities. He glanced back and noticed Rebecca wasn't bowing.

Farrel tugged at Rebecca's sleeve.

"Hey, why aren't you bowing? Look, they seem angry."

"I will never bow to anyone other than my master."

"Ugh, now's the time she decides to show loyalty?"

Farrel straightened up as a sign of respect for Rebecca.

"Well, we can just run away if something happens."

Someone comes out from the carriage the beautiful young lady with yellow and celestial silk clothes the princces of Qutred .

She ran toward Farrel and Rebecca and suddenly hugged Rebecca. Farrel was confused but relieved that nothing bad had happened.

"Hello, Princess. It's been a long time since we last saw each other."

Rebecca gently stroked her hair.

"Why are you here, Rebecca? Weren't you sold off to some perverted noble after you killed someone who tried to harass you before? I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."

The princess glared at Farrel with anger, as if she thought he was the perverted noble.

"Haha, I'm okay now. Don't look at my master like that. He's the one who saved me."

Farrel nodded, signaling that he was innocent in this matter.

But the princess turned her head away, making an angry face.

"Hermm! I don't like that guy. I don't think he can even protect you, Rebecca. Please come back to us and be my personal maid again."

Rebecca pushed the princess away and shook her head.

"No, I've already promised my loyalty to my master. He saved me from that pervert. Now, he is my life. If he dies, I will die too. If he becomes an enemy of this kingdom, I will still follow him. That's how loyal I am to him now. Maybe you should return to the castle, Princess. The queen will be worried about you."

Suddenly, one more person emerged from the carriage.

"Don't worry about it, Rebecca. I'm here with her. We just returned from her engagement with another prince from a different continent."

This time, Rebecca bowed respectfully.

The queen revealed herself in front of everyone, and all the people knelt and bowed their heads. Farrel, slightly delayed by the queen's beauty, did the same.

"Nice to meet you, Rebecca. You look happy right now."

Then she turned her gaze to Farrel.

"Sorry on behalf of my daughter. She lacks common sense. So, whoever Rebecca chooses as her master is considered a viscount. That's how special she is in this country."

Farrel nodded.

Then the queen called her daughter to return to the carriage, as they needed to leave.

"Rebecca, if you have free time, come and dine with us. Bring your master along."

Rebecca nodded gracefully, holding the hem of her dress with both hands and lowering herself slightly.

They boarded the carriage, and the princess waved at Rebecca before they left the scene.
