His free hand shot forward, palm striking Hawkin's chest with devastating force. The older warrior was launched backward, crashing through the remnants of the ceremonial altar, tumbling across broken wood and stone before finally sliding to a stop thirty feet away.

The Bloodhound moved in perfect synchronization with its master. It lunged at the guards who had been attempting to flank Jorghan, its massive jaws snapping shut on a soldier's sword. The enchanted blade, forged by master craftsmen and imbued with protective magic, shattered like glass. The soldier screamed and threw himself backward, barely avoiding the creature's follow-up strike.
