Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 The Boy Who Embarked on the Journey

After answering Snuffy's questions, he received his beginner's gift package.

"Main panel activated. Congratulations, Host, you have received the Superstar Template: Fernando Torres. You have gained the traits: Iron Body and Ambidexterity. Host can view his templates, skills, and traits on the main panel."

Fernando Torres, the Spanish Niño, the winner on the pitch, Torres! After checking Torres's skill, Unstoppable Speed, and trait, Destiny's Niño, on the main panel, Snuffy felt a surge of explosive power and muscle memory for various football techniques.

He took a football from his home and eagerly began to test it out. Dribbling, making moves, he watched the agility displayed in his every action.

Snuffy was full of confidence for the future. Maradona could lead Argentina to win the World Cup by himself, and in the future, why couldn't I, Snuffy, do the same!

From the day the system loaded, Snuffy diligently practiced eight hours every day. In the new round of training, he attracted the attention of the youth team coach with his strength.

He was promoted to the U18 youth team and gained the qualification to participate in the Youth League. In the subsequent Youth League, relying on Torres's experience and skills, as well as his basic abilities which were close to Bundesliga level, Snuffy displayed absolutely superior ability and talent in matches.

After playing more than twenty matches, his strength further improved, and he was recommended by the youth team coach to the first team, who lacked a speedy striker.

Then came the story of his instant fame with a single goal.

The evening breeze blew gently, and Snuffy gradually emerged from his memories. After cycling for a while longer, he finally arrived at a German-style two-story villa covering over 150 square meters. This was the home where he had lived for more than twenty years in both his lives.

Putting his bicycle in the garage, Snuffy checked his match rewards for the day: a total of 18 skill points and three lottery chances.

"System, open detailed panel:

PS (values in parentheses are growth limits)

Strength: 80 (90) Acceleration: 85 (92) Speed: 85 (92)

Dribbling: 80 (88) Ball Control: 80 (88) Short Passing: 70 (88)

Finishing: 80 (94) Shot Power: 80 (88) Heading: 75 (82)

Long Shots: 80 (88) Positioning: 70 (88) Penalties: 60 (84)

Long Passing: 70 (84) Free Kicks: 60 (88) Vision: 80 (92)

Agility: 80 (95) Jumping: 70 (86) Tactical Awareness: 70 (92)

Stamina: 80 (90) Pressing: 65 (70)

Height: 184 cm Weight: 73 kg

Overall Rating: 75

Looking at his attribute panel, as a rookie striker, he certainly wouldn't be taking penalties or free kicks for the team. Long passing and pressing were also not the primary duties of a center forward.

Therefore, the skill points he had previously obtained were only casually allocated to these few attributes, just enough to ensure they wouldn't be a hindrance.

All the points were then put into attributes that improved his physical fitness and the core abilities of a striker. Although the allocation method was a bit extreme, it could quickly enhance his strength.

If he only looked at his advantageous attributes, his rating would have already been above 80. His on-field strength was definitely a notch higher than his overall rating.

"System, max out the Strength and Shot Power attributes."

Strength was 10 points away from its limit, and Shot Power was exactly 8 points away. With 18 skill points in hand, Snuffy could perfectly max them out.

With a command, a stronger force surged through his body. Feeling his body become even stronger, Snuffy sighed, "Although I haven't fully developed yet, with my current physical quality, ordinary center-backs are really no match for me in a confrontation!"

"System, what are those three lottery chances for?" Snuffy, who had received this reward for the first time, asked.

"Every three lottery chances allow you to draw a Star Player's Star Skill and Talent Trait. Every ten lottery chances allow you to draw a Superstar Player's. Every twenty chances allow you to draw a Legendary Player's. Every fifty chances are for a Pride of the Era Player. King of Football level cannot be drawn. Host can currently perform a Star Player level draw. Would you like to draw?"

Snuffy, of course, chose no. The higher the level of the skill, the better the effect. His strength was still rapidly developing, so it was better to save them for later to draw higher-level skills or traits.

After all, a Star Player level skill or trait wouldn't significantly boost his strength. At least a Superstar Player level skill would be needed to catch Snuffy's eye.

After dealing with the rewards and closing the garage door, Snuffy walked to the front door, eager to share his success with his parents.

As soon as he entered the house, Snuffy was drawn by the aroma wafting from the dining room and quickly walked towards it. Upon entering the dining room, he saw a middle-aged couple, each holding a party popper.

After pulling them, amidst the flying streamers, they offered him their most sincere blessings.

"Son, you will always be Mom's (Dad's) pride!"

Snuffy's father, Snuffy Changjin, came up and gave his son a hug.

"Son, do you know? As soon as you scored, my colleagues who were watching the game all sent me congratulations, saying that my son broke the record for the youngest goal scorer in the Bundesliga! Even a few of my superiors specifically sent me a blessing. You really made me proud today!"

"Alright, alright, that's enough! Son, you must be hungry! After playing football for so long and cycling back, hurry up and sit down to eat!"

Standing by the dining table, his mother, Xu Qingge, interrupted Snuffy's father, who was about to say more.

"No nutritional meal today! I made your favorite braised pork ribs!"

Facing his enthusiastic parents, Snuffy could barely get a word in and could only nod repeatedly, starting to eat.

After dinner, Snuffy and his parents began to chat. They talked about football, about life, enjoying a harmonious atmosphere.

In early June, Snuffy, who had been reborn, asked his father to buy some World Cup lottery tickets for him. With a deep memory of that summer, Snuffy's predictions were spot on.

The two thousand euro he gave his father turned into two hundred thousand euro after a series of matches. After taking half of it to bet on Germany's seven-to-one victory over Brazil, the 6500-fold odds made Snuffy's family rich overnight. Even after deducting nearly half in taxes, they still had over 300 million euro in assets.

Subsequently, Snuffy's father, shocked by Snuffy's foresight, was further encouraged by Snuffy to buy Bitcoin and stocks. After all, his system penalty was still hanging over him; if something went wrong and he failed to complete it, he could at least leave his parents enough wealth for several lifetimes.

The next morning, Snuffy woke up promptly at six o'clock, washed up, and then cycled to the team's training base.

After two hours of training in the gym under the system's guidance, Snuffy took a shower and then went to the first team's training ground to meet his teammates.

Daily extra training had already become integrated into Snuffy's life. Gaining more skill points was Snuffy's biggest goal at this stage.

The team would be playing Borussia Dortmund away the day after tomorrow. The entire team would depart tomorrow afternoon. Although Borussia Dortmund's performance this season was not good, currently ranking in the lower-middle of the League, no team would take this Bundesliga Yellow Submarine lightly.

As long as Klopp was still there, as long as Borussia Dortmund's core structure hadn't been shattered, it would still be the formidable Bundesliga Yellow Submarine.

Therefore, head coach Dieter Hecking attached great importance to this match.

In the morning's training match, he specifically designed a tactical system based on Snuffy's characteristics.

It involved Perisic and Vieirinha infiltrating from both wings, playing small combinations with Snuffy from the sides of the penalty area towards the ribs to attract defenders. De Bruyne would then deliver through balls from the center or long passes over the top directly to Snuffy.

In short, the goal was to create one-on-one or one-on-two opportunities for Snuffy to directly face the opposing defenders, and then rely on Snuffy's individual ability to score goals and finish the match.

This was both a secret tactic for the next match for Dieter Hecking and a test for Snuffy. After all, Paderborn in the last match was a team in the relegation zone, and since it was Snuffy's first time playing, the opponent didn't pay much attention to him.

Although his performance was perfect, it still lacked persuasiveness, making it difficult for Hecking to determine whether Snuffy could be used as a regular tactic.

However, the upcoming match against Borussia Dortmund was different. Although Borussia Dortmund's recent results were not good, that was Borussia Dortmund at Westfalen!

A tiger dies but its frame remains. If Snuffy could also perform very well against a tough opponent like Borussia Dortmund, then after special training during the winter break, Hecking could firmly consider him a strong option for the team's attack in the second half of the season.

"Ivica Olić is old, and Caligiuri and Dost have consistently failed to deliver convincing performances. I'm actually placing the team's offensive hopes on a youngster who isn't even 17 years old. It's a helpless choice!"

Shaking his head, Hecking calmed down and continued to guide the players on the field through their tactical drills.

After finishing the day's training, Hecking gave all the first-team players half a day off. The schedule before Christmas was very tight; Wolfsburg had been playing almost every three days recently, and the players' fatigue was visible.

"Tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock, we will gather here to take the team bus to Borussia Dortmund. Tomorrow morning, you can rest well for half a day. After all, the recent schedule has been a bit tight, and you also need to relax.

But Naldo and the rest of you, if I find out you go to any entertainment venues tonight instead of resting at home, then you'll be in for it!"

At this point, Dieter Hecking glared fiercely at Naldo, Gustavo, and a few other veterans.

Needless to say, assistant coach Bremser must have told Hecking about their attempt to take Snuffy out last night.

The veterans exchanged glances, shaking their heads and assuring Hecking.

"What are you saying, Boss! We'll definitely rest well at home and won't go out wandering! Don't you trust us?! We'll definitely win against Borussia Dortmund the day after tomorrow!"

"I don't care what you say, but if I catch you, you know the consequences!" Hecking didn't quite trust these old hands, scoffed, and announced the dismissal.

The next afternoon, the Wolfsburg first-team players gathered on time, boarded the team bus, and embarked on their away trip to Borussia Dortmund.
