Seeing the spears fall, Bastion immediately began to pass them around to every Sanctis present. Their Bolters were effective but, due to their enhanced abilities, they seemed slow. Before their bolter rounds could probably reach the opponent, their fists would have already taken care of it. "These are kinetic spears. They build up more energy the more you use them, allowing your strikes to be heavier without losing out on speed," Bastion explained as he waved one of the spears around. As he did so, they all noticed a faint blue light surging within the spear before Bastion gently tapped the wall beside them. As soon as the tip of the spear touched it, there was a loud explosion as rockcrete and dust filled the air. This small demonstration was more than enough to explain the spear's use. "It also has other uses, but for now, focus only on this," Bastion said. "As you wish, my lord," they all answered. "Excellent. Now we move out. Search every tunnel or hab block—the rift shouldn't be too far from here," he replied before immediately heading out. The spears were a project that he had been working on through Ascrius-21. They were made from a synthesized alloy that they had only just perfected. As its name suggested, the Kinetic Spear was able to absorb and redistribute the kinetic energy it absorbed. It wasn't 100% efficient, but it was over 85%, and that was more than enough. The top of the spear was sharpened into a nanomolecular edge, meaning that it would cut through anything. However, his greatest curiosity was whether they could channel their holy energy through the spear. Putting that thought aside, Bastion and his Sanctis immediately moved out. His sensors helped filter out irrelevant targets, and it wasn't long before they found the source. "Spread out and coat yourselves with your blessing. Just because you are now favored doesn't mean you should get reckless. Understood?" Bastion asked through the now reestablished comms. He had come to learn a few things due to their incursion. Chaos could interfere with technology in many ways; however, there were also some things that it couldn't really mess with. The standard vox comms were down—one could only hear static—and it only got worse immediately after they came into this tunnel. However, the quantum comms he had built seemed to be working fine. His theory was that Chaos could interrupt the vox comms because, like every classical system, they sent out radio waves over a vast distance—things that demons and such could intercept. However, via quantum entanglement—a very unique phenomenon he discovered while tinkering with existing technology—he could teleport those radio waves from the communicator to the receiver. This didn't just reduce the risk of daemons hijacking it; it eliminated it. Chaos was powerful and might even adapt to this someday, but for now, it was a very potent way to disrupt them. "Isn't it a little too quiet in here?" Bastion asked himself as he walked through the tunnel. Blood and guts were everywhere; dead bodies littered the ground, which made the smell something he would probably never forget in his life. On the walls were various symbols that began flaking off the moment he got closer to them. It was obvious that they had something to do with Chaos and the cultists. "Come to think of it, if the Christian God exists and repels Chaos in this manner, doesn't that mean I can make this planet Chaos-proof by simply…" "REECH!!" A screech interrupted his thoughts as Bastion saw what he could only describe as a horde of bat-vulture hybrids rushing at him. Too many eyes to count and nearly all were not in the place they were supposed to be. This was truly the embodiment of chaos. "As expected," he said as he quickly raised his sword and prepared himself. Even if he had his 100m field, Chaos wouldn't let him win easily. Among the many daemons, Bastion could see several that looked like and radiated power similar to the greater daemon he had killed on first contact. "Contact ahead. All Sanctis are to converge on my location. If impossible, meet up with another sister and stand your ground… God has delivered the enemies into our hands," Bastion said before leaping into the horde. His sword drew arcs, and with each slash or stab came the death of a daemon that was forever lost—its spark extinguished and soul dissolved in the purity of Bastion's aura. This wasn't a battle as one would expect; this was Chaos making its last stand against a man who could unmake it. Lesser daemon or greater daemon, Bastion slaughtered all as though they were no different from chickens under his sword. At the same time, in other tunnels, the sisters—now in pairs—could be seen engaging several hostiles as well. However, unlike Bastion, who truly saw the daemons as nothing but prey, the sisters could be seen fighting with all their might. Blue and gold filled the air, even in the darkness—enough to light up the tunnel. Their eyes glowed golden, and their spears shone royal blue. Their newly donned armor shimmered with golden light, showcasing its heightened defense. Each strike carried with it the power of a tank's blow, and each stab erased many in its path. Bastion had indeed created a squad beyond compare.
