Primrose finally calmed down after sipping some warm tea and munching through half a jar of cookies.
She wasn't even sure if she was eating because she was still sad or simply because she was hungry.
Edmund was sitting on the same sofa as her, but for some reason, he sat all the way on the other side, as if he didn't dare to sit too close to his own wife in front of his father-in-law.
If Lazarus weren't here, Primrose was sure Edmund would have already asked for a welcome kiss.
"Father," Primrose spoke up again once she had swallowed the cookie in her mouth. "Did you come here without anyone's knowledge?"
Lazarus hadn't yet told Primrose about the Emperor's order forbidding him from seeing his daughter.
However, she could already guess it.
He hadn't arrived at the palace with their family carriage, and in fact, Primrose hadn't seen him bring much luggage either, as if he had come here in a rush.
That wasn't like him at all.
