Chapter 445 - New Plans

A duo of soldiers advanced quickly, and both of them drew their sharp knives. One of them gently opened the glass door in front of them, casually attracting attention by opening it directly. The walkers who were dazed in the room were immediately stirred by the strange noise and instantly locked onto the humans.

They were all scattered in the corners of the room and walked toward this side with claws and teeth exposed. The appearance of these walkers was truly terrifying, and Barry even felt a chill run down his legs.

"Don't you want to give it a try?" Welles looked at Barry with a curious expression.

In fact, this was the first time Barry had faced the undead face to face. Some people might say, how can such a tough guy, a soldier who has experienced the battlefield, be so fearful?

In fact, if you think about it carefully, no matter who it is, it's clear that anyone trapped in a room surrounded by hundreds of walkers, having witnessed the scene of their companions biting others, and without the possibility of making much noise, facing walkers again after such a long time is hard to digest.

Barry had been alone in this state for a year and a half, and this chronic fear of the unknown gave him a legitimate fear of the undead.

Seeing Barry's cowardly expression, Welles, at his side, seemed disgusted and completely forgot his performance in the elevator: "Look, these bastards are easy to deal with."

Welles walked toward them, but there were only two or three walkers, and two soldiers took care of them during his confrontation with these walkers.

Looking at Barry with pride, he rubbed the machete against one of the walkers, only to realize that everyone else's eyes had long been fixed on the equipment in the hall.

Jason walked to the front of the main console, looked at the control buttons, and couldn't help but glance at Barry.

"Tell me about the functions of this place."

With Barry's explanation, people's eyes gradually widened. Right now, they were sitting on the throne of an emperor.

With this power in their hands, as long as anyone dared to harm them, they could directly bombard those people with missiles, and even the most fortified communities would have to yield without resistance.

After inspecting the headquarters, Barry led a group of people to a larger space beneath the mountain, where military equipment was stored—enough to arm a battalion of troops.

Sophisticated individual equipment, security supplies, large-scale warfare equipment, anti-missile systems, heavy artillery, tanks, Humvees, trucks with hypersonic missiles, multiple rocket launcher trucks were all available.

Many of the people here were retired or active soldiers, and now they were able to get closer to equipment they had never even seen before, and some had only heard about.

"Jason, if this had fallen into enemy hands, we would've been completely screwed…"

"Hahaha, we've won…"

Hearing the excited shouts of his subordinates, Jason also smiled. These things would bring huge changes to the overall power of their bases.

The next thing he had to consider was how to turn this military base into an underground fortress that could survive for a long time isolated from the outside world while remaining connected to the central base.

Welles stood in front of a missile truck, then walked toward some missiles placed on a special rack: "We're the ones who are going to screw those bastards from the CRM."

"Let me ask, do these vehicles have special entrances and exits?"

Barry nodded strangely and pointed into the distance as if it were natural: "Of course they do… In fact, there's an entrance over there, but it's a bit far. The entrance and exit are located at the dam not too far away." As he said this, Barry suddenly thought of something and looked at Jason with some uncertainty.

"What's wrong?"

"May I ask, Commander Jason, where exactly did you come from?"

Without hesitation, Aaron casually pointed in the direction they came from. "It's on the first floor where you were trapped just now. Isn't there a special entrance up there? I have the keys!"

Barry looked shocked, his eyes widening, but then he composed himself and pointed: "This place was originally a warehouse used during World War II. Later, it was transformed into a secret missile launch base. That's why the two parts are separated. At first, I thought you came from the dam entrance, but obviously you didn't drive here before, so I'm surprised."

"Isn't that the entrance?"

Barry shook his head and said with a hint of relief in his tone: "Now that I know, you're very lucky to have entered through that place since it's an entrance that hasn't been used for a long time. It is said that if you don't have a matching key and try to force your way in, the bomb there will detonate, because some important things were actually stored there years ago that the government was worried might fall into the wrong hands."

Welles asked with some interest when he heard this: "Oh? What kind of important things?"

"Just some outdated machines, an assembly line for manufacturing weapons and ammunition, and a batch of valuable raw materials. Everything was sold after the war. It is said they were bought by a very mysterious rich man, but no one ever came to transport them, so they have been stored in this place for a long time."

Hearing this, Jason's mind recalled the villa, and the rich man mentioned must be the owner there.

However, these words immediately stimulated his nerves. His eyes widened and he subconsciously looked at Welles beside him, seeing the same expression on the other side.

"You mean… you can make weapons and bullets in this base?"

"Of course you can. Since no one came to take them, they are still properly installed. As long as you turn on the power, you can produce ammunition."

Jason immediately thought that this place would become their central base. It had absolutely everything, and it really wasn't far from Atlanta.

"After exploring all the facilities here, I will immediately contact the central base to send some advance troops to guard this place. This place may have originally been just a retreat for a group of unwanted veterans before the end of the world, but now this place is the most important not only in this country, but in the entire world."

The next day, everyone explored the entire base and cleared out some walkers on other floors. The vehicles outside were concealed with special tarps.

The following morning, Welles connected to the central base.

"Zz… Tyler, issue an order for everyone to assemble."

Just as the high command of the S.C.T. was euphoric about what had been found in this place, on a road dozens of kilometers west of Atlanta, a modified RV was driving along, with a motorcycle hanging behind it.

At that moment, more than a dozen people inside the RV were chatting enthusiastically. If you looked closely, there were several very familiar faces.

Óscar, this huge and strong man, had shone in operations to eliminate enemies. Negan was also there. Originally, Jason wanted him to go to the CRM, but after thinking about it, he believed it was unnecessary.

Besides, even if he went, there was no guarantee he could obtain an important position like Jadis did. By then, Lucille would be a woman with a child and her health was still not good. Obviously, it was unrealistic to let Negan stay there without making use of his talent.

Therefore, he granted Negan an authority higher than class two but lower than class three. So this time, he was together with Merle.

As for Jadis in Washington… there is still no really good plan yet. The other two are Aaron and Eric. These men were not at ease in the central base; even now, they still missed Alexandria. Therefore, when Merle returned, the two of them decided to accompany him.

The RV slowly stopped by the roadside, and several people got out of the vehicle and spread out to clear the walkers.

Daryl was among them. He shot a walker in front of the RV with a crossbow bolt, then placed the crossbow on the ground, held a dagger in his other hand, and took down the two walkers following him once again. Finally, he straightened up and looked back.
