Chapter 434 - Cleaning Process

Relying on a few cars as cover, the people ignored the walkers rolling down the slope, and all those who stood up received a shot to the head.

Constantly retreating toward the river, several trucks moved outward—a total of six vehicles, arranged in a semicircle as a whole, with the rear parts of the vehicles connected to surround everyone inside.

In this way, the area covered by the people's firepower was significantly reduced.

Welles reminded everyone loudly as he fired, "Focus only on the distance! Don't let the undead get too close! Those on the right side, handle your own side—I'll take care of watching the left. No one fall behind as we move toward the rendezvous point!"

At this moment, the rest of the people were running toward the dock, but objectively speaking, this dock was actually an observation pier, not far from the bridge. However, the walkers along the way were very troublesome and prevented them from getting there quickly.

That was why Welles' task was to eliminate the walkers in the rear and near the bridge.

…

A car turned flexibly on the road, miraculously avoiding all the walkers and maintaining a steady speed even with all the abandoned cars along the way.

The driver was George, and in the passenger seat was Jason, while the rest of the soldiers were in the back. Judging by their expressions, being in tense situations was their specialty.

Seeing that the tourist dock was just ahead, the vehicle's speed increased slightly and rushed straight toward the pier.

The dock was not very large, and there were a few boats parked on both sides—not many—and all of them were tourist boats, but they would work fine for what they needed.

There was an entrance to the dock on one side of the road. The car did not stop and directly struck the lifting barrier at the entrance.

Screech!

With the sound of brakes, the group got out of the car with their belongings, the most striking of which were two enormous barrels of gasoline.

Everyone worked together to unload the barrels, and Jason quickly moved across several boats, trying to find one that could start without problems.

After more than a year and a half without use, batteries and similar components were prone to losing power. Jason tried several boats but could not find one that would start.

Just when he felt that this plan was about to fall apart, he suddenly saw a boat that appeared to be in good condition. It had the appearance of a small cruise vessel.

He quickly ran to the cabin, reached out, and pressed the ignition. His hands were sweating from nervousness, but his expression remained calm.

Jason checked the electricity and inspected the fuel tank!

Vrrr!

"Alright, the engine is running—load the gasoline barrels!"

After giving the signal, Jason climbed to the top of the yacht and covered his companions from the walkers. Because this type of dock was small, the number of walkers that could move there was limited.

With just two or three people with good aim and steady speed, the walkers in the surroundings kept falling to the ground with headshots.

Fortunately, the two barrels of gasoline were quickly transferred onto the boat. Jason immediately cut the rope, and several people worked together to slowly push the boat away from the shore.

The speed of the boat leaving the shore was very slow, and the people could only continue firing to clear the walkers approaching from behind. However, the group of walkers was truly overwhelming, and little by little they began reaching the riverbank.

Although they were at the edge of the shore, the walkers that arrived struck the boat, causing it to shake slightly. But this was enough for one person in the group, who was not standing properly, to slip and fall off the boat.

"Ahhh!" With a scream, that soldier fell into the water.

This sudden accident was about to cause disorder in the group's effectiveness, so Jason, as the leader, shouted, "You keep fighting—I'll take care of pulling him out of the water!"

After speaking, he raised his rifle and fired in automatic mode, eliminating numerous walkers. Then he threw the weapon aside and jumped in front of the yacht while grabbing a lifebuoy.

It should be known that the equipment they carried was extremely heavy—not only because this combat suit effectively isolated the inside from the outside, but also because the extra bulletproof vests with magazines on their backs were truly very heavy.

The lifebuoy landed precisely beside the person who had fallen into the water, and the person quickly grabbed it firmly. Jason then used his arms to pull the rope and hauled him back onto the boat.

At this moment, the yacht had already left the shore, but the walkers on the dock kept falling into the river endlessly. Looking at the scene in front of them, several people understood Jason's plan. Although it was not a fast method to save the person in the water, pulling two men out would have been much harder.

Everyone worked together to pull the man who had fallen into the water aboard. Seeing him out of breath, they couldn't help but make fun of him.

"For God's sake, kid, did you really think you were Aquaman? How the hell do you fall while standing? Did you drink last night?"

"Hahaha, of course I drank all the gasoline from the barrels…"

The young soldier simply looked stunned, ignored them, reached out, grabbed Iaorm's hand, and stood up.

"Alright, hurry up and prepare the fuel tanks—we're going to support Welles."

"Yes, sir!"

…

For now, the situation on the other side was not bad. Because of the suppressors, the sound did not carry very far. In addition, they had sufficient firepower, and the walkers did not gather in large numbers when the yacht approached them.

What came next was much simpler. Except for a few people who continued clearing walkers, the rest began moving items from the vehicles onto the boat.

The contents of several truck trunks were transferred onto the vessel, and finally everyone boarded. Only then did they feel somewhat safe.

Jason clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.

"Alright, let's work hard. Prepare everything this afternoon, get a good night's sleep, and start the operation tomorrow. Welles has arranged tonight's duty and is ready to handle emergencies at any time."

"Yes, sir!"

Jason opened the bags they had brought and took out several speakers that had been removed from large sound systems to avoid taking up too much space. As for the rest, there were cables and some extra items they had taken.

It took the entire afternoon to install the speakers on top of the yacht, while the others practiced their aim by shooting at the walkers on the shore.

At night, the crowds of walkers in the streets and alleys of the city became denser. Night was always the most dangerous time, as animals stopped making noise, and even the slightest sound could attract all the walkers to a single point.

Fortunately, this place did not seem to have red-eyed walkers or different monsters like in other areas. With that, everything became much simpler.

In the silent stillness, a burst of music suddenly rang out from a specific point. The sound, which was not particularly loud before the end of the world, pierced directly through the quiet night sky of the city.

All the walkers were attracted by the sound of the music, and they all looked toward the south of the city in unison. Their steps paused slightly, and all their aimless wandering turned toward the direction of the music.

The originally quiet city instantly stirred like a stone thrown into water, and all the walkers began to gather toward the south.

At this moment, on the yacht, aside from the two night watchers at the front and rear, the rest of the people lay casually on the cabin floor.

People covered their ears with the help of their helmets, trying to sleep as much as possible during the downtime.

Although the music was very loud, it still did not affect everyone's sleep. Aside from the two people watching outside at night, there was a lot of noise, and the rest closed the cabin door, which actually worked well.

Inside the cabin, Jason was also lying on the floor to one side and fell asleep. A soldier was sitting in front of the helm, operating the yacht while turning it side to side and singing the song at the top of his lungs.

"Oh, bite me hard, I'll be your dog… Oh Oh Oh… Give me more, you know I'll always be your fan!"
