Chapter 385 – This Is…

Boom!

The last explosion seemed to be much larger than the one from a moment ago, and it turned out that it was not very far from the position where Jack and the others were defending themselves from the attackers. But why was that explosion far away and not against the enemies who were right in front of them? Simple, there were several convoys heading toward the building where Jack and the others were.

Shortly after that, everyone was slightly disoriented. The explosion from a moment ago was the drone crashing into the last convoy that was approaching the allies. This move could be considered very painful; after all, losing a controllable drone is truly a considerable loss compared to a tank, but lives in this situation are far more important.

What is the most valuable thing nowadays? Of course, life.

Bang Bang Bang!

The gunfire continued, but not in large quantities. After all, the enemy group was now at a stalemate with Jack's group. They were confident at the beginning, but after this, the situation had reversed.

"Damn bastards, sooner or later you'll die and I'm going to enjoy it!"

Jack was breaking out in a cold sweat, the wound on his back began to hurt more and more, making it impossible for him to move.

Bang Bang Bang! Bang Bang Bang!

"Damn it, get rid of them!"

After waiting like this for five minutes, the roar of weapons and the shout of a man came once again from outside the window.

"Captain, Pérez has been hit!"

On the other side, Pérez was gripping his neck tightly. From his expression and the amount of blood coming from his neck, the bullet had possibly pierced his jugular.

"Pérez!" Jack ran toward Pérez and managed to hold his hand. Blood had already flooded his neck and he began to spit blood.

"Sir… reinforcements… are coming…"

"Stay with me, Pérez, come on!"

After trying to do something about his wound, Jack pulled his hand away and saw Pérez's dilated pupils. No matter what he felt now, he knew he had to protect those who were still alive.

"Damn it!"

Jack held the rifle in his hands and began firing intensely. A wave of emotions surged deep within his heart, so he tried to vent them somehow.

"Walkers!"

The deafening roar of weapons loomed over the city, and on the street in front of the building around thirty people continued firing at Jack's group.

At the same time, Jack's group resisted the attack of the unknown enemies. Whether men, women, or even children, all of them kept pulling the triggers constantly and firing at the people who were trying to take their lives.

The machine gun ammunition had run out; after all, they had only gone out with five boxes of ammunition. No one expected a direct confrontation against enemies of this magnitude.

Under normal circumstances, all meetings with communities outside the S.C.T. organization are peaceful; violence is not needed to talk, after all.

But the people from outside did not think that way. In fact, they made it very clear with their actions that they had no intention of letting them live.

Throughout all this time, Jack knew that those people did not belong to the Beaver Community, so he could only think of the Fireflies or some other unknown organization.

"Captain, we won't be able to hold out any longer if we keep going like this!"

"We have to enter the building!"

Such a fierce collision caused countless corpses to lie on the dusty ground, and scarlet blood flowed from the wounds of all the dead, dyeing the ground red.

The smell of gunpowder and blood quickly spread to the surroundings. If it were not for the battlefield where they were defending and attacking, the walkers could have arrived from a blind spot.

Right now, the confrontation was on a long street. The buildings provided cover, and the walkers approaching could be clearly seen.

Bang! Bang!

"Quick, get into the building!"

Many elderly people climbed into the building, some of whom crawled along the ground while Jack's elite squad suppressed the enemies. Some were injured, others dead.

This situation was very chilling; just the sounds of gunfire and explosions had them completely dazed. But everyone knew one thing: as long as they held on, reinforcements would arrive.

Roar!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

But just as Jack walked quickly toward the door, from the doorway next to the group, he suddenly heard a roar that everyone was very familiar with. In the distance, he could see a man flying out as if he weighed absolutely nothing.

The sudden movement caused the chaotic scene to stop, and everyone's faces were filled with astonishment and indescribable fear.

"How is this possible!"

Upon hearing the roar of the infected from there, Jack's first reaction was that it was impossible.

Although they were now in a state where they could face walkers at any time, there were exceptions, and those were when they encountered special-class walkers.

The situation in South Carolina was still very unknown. There were still many survivors, but everyone still knew very little about that type of special-class infected.

"I can't believe it…"

In the middle of the road, two enormous figures were slowly moving toward the group that had been attacking them just moments ago. Those figures were as large as the giant infected that Jason had eliminated, their eyes kept staring at everyone as if they were prey.

"What happened? How could there be infected inside?"

"Both are special class, we'll all die if we don't face them properly…"

The gunfire stopped for a few seconds, and when everyone reacted, the shooting resumed, but everyone now faced a common enemy, the walkers.

Who would be crazy enough to continue a confrontation with infected right beside them?

When everyone silently reached a mutual truce, the gunfire was directed toward the enemies. But only one of the groups involved in the confrontation was attacking the walkers, and those were Jack's enemies.

"Good, let's move now…" Seeing this opportunity, Jack took it immediately and helped the injured get into the building.

Roar!

But at that moment, upon hearing Jack's voice, the infected immediately found a prey to attack, so it roared and ran toward the target. But before it could take a few steps, it was shot in the head, fell heavily to the ground, and rolled several meters.

Ignoring the runner-class walker that fell to the ground, Jack stepped over the corpse and reached the doorway of the room where the infected had been scratching at that moment.

He was bewildered at this moment. Logically speaking, even if runner-class walkers attacked, they would not do so in the way these walkers were.

Some remained standing still, as if they were receiving orders from someone, and when that idea arose in Jack's mind, he looked toward the two special-class walker enemies.

Jack knew that if everyone was thinking the same thing, they were facing walkers that could lead hordes. "It's not possible…"

"Jack! Are you okay?"

Just as Jack was stunned, he suddenly heard Emma's shouts.

"I'm fine, wait a minute…"

Jack looked at the weapon in his hands and at those creatures moving. It was at that moment that he knew he could not let them escape or try to kill everyone. "At least I'll leave proof in this place!"

Making a decision, Jack turned on the camera on his chest and advanced toward a more open area to support the elimination of these infected.
