Chapter 357 - The Note

"You don't have any broken ribs, your strong muscles were able to withstand the heavy impacts you received. Considering all the variants of the virus, if you were infected you would have already shown symptoms."

After checking Abraham, Bob began examining Jason's body. Everyone without exception was horrified to see those bruises with blood on his ribs, muscles, shoulders, and face. To tell the truth, it was still surprising that Jason could move.

"For now take these painkillers, you'll take some more to prevent your body from swelling and you'll receive a few injections to prevent any infection."

After saying that, Bob carefully applied a much more professional bandage than Tina had done. All his wounds were checked, Jason passed the initial examinations and then realized that besides the blows, he hadn't received any other injury.

Some time later, Jason didn't let them watch the video for now where he faced that giant infected, since now they had to focus on a much more recent problem.

Meanwhile, Jason was still receiving treatment. There were one or two open wounds, but that was due to the many falls he had during the battle against the infected.

On the other hand, after knowing that Jason wasn't in danger, everyone else discussed that group that had attacked them moments ago.

"What the hell does that thing the man told you before dying mean? Just a T, did he really not say anything else?"

Jason, who was lying on the sofa, said angrily: "His lungs were full of blood, how the hell was he supposed to talk to me?"

"This is a big load of crap, if I know a T, it's in T-dog… Damn man, I like you but your name is also Theodore…" Negan looked at T-dog with a toothy grin.

"That's too much of a coincidence…" T-dog agreed.

"Fireflies…" Jason thought to himself.

Daryl scratched his head, stepped aside without having the slightest idea who those people were and continued cleaning his precious crossbow, while Glenn was surrounded by a group of people, thinking that this man knew something about what was happening.

"Uh… I don't know, how am I supposed to guess anything with a single word?"

Jason didn't want to delay the group; after a few simple rounds they had gotten everything they had come to look for. According to the people they had saved, they would soon be able to fully restore electricity.

So from that point on, Jason had nothing to do but stay alert. From all the clues that had formed in his mind, he detected that there could be a great force in South Carolina, but that would be very curious since that place had been slightly investigated by his people.

But under Rick's words, he assures that this group must come from a strong community.

In other words, most of those who attacked him were people who did not know the situation in Georgia and Atlanta. Could they be the Saviors? Not much time had passed since the group left Washington, are those people so fast at following the trail?

At that moment, Michonne, who had been silent all this time, suddenly spoke: "Could it be those people in Washington? Those people loot memories from people just like the Saviors."

The two thought about this at the same time, but Jason thought of the Fireflies — does that organization really still exist? Daryl, on the other hand, interrupted everyone:

"Those bastards dare to chase us? Back then, most of the people were survivors with no military experience, now I want to see those idiots come to our doorstep. We have a hundred and one ways to kill them all."

Michonne's attitude was obviously not so optimistic, and she still denied Daryl's words with concern.

"We definitely aren't afraid of them normally, but what if those guys sneak up on us when we're out? If it were me, I definitely wouldn't take the initiative to provoke; I'd stay on the route where some groups normally pass and plan a surprise attack. Tell me, what would you do if you were in that situation?"

Everyone looked at Jason, expecting him to make a decision.

"Taking Birmingham is being a success, Georgia was controlled by our soldiers so they won't look beyond that place. The borders are established and the points we move through as well. Now our goal is to take all of Alabama, we can't deviate from that. Therefore, I will suspend outings that are not part of our territory."

"That's a good idea, the construction right now requires a lot of manpower. Thousands of people are now working to increase our internal strength. Meanwhile, we can also send an elite team to investigate that area."

The rest of the people looked at each other and said nothing; everyone knew that this method was the most feasible at the moment, and then they sat together and discussed.

And Jason, who was lying silently, was thinking about whether to take those people seriously. They were, after all, survivors who had one weapon or another.

It seemed like a waste of time to pay attention to that place, but forgetting it wasn't enough either, so he thought about what to do with South Carolina, and after careful consideration, he decided to follow the original plan and slowly investigate that group.

Charon and the others who had been sitting in the corner were confused for a while. They only had a half understanding of the current situation. They only knew that these people belonged to some force, but no one told them anything that could help now.

However, with the various keywords that these people revealed unintentionally during their conversation, they gradually got some general impressions about their base.

Walls, reforms, defenses, soldiers, elite teams, Birmingham, helicopters, etc. These words kept stimulating the thoughts of several people. Their eyes widened and they secretly communicated with each other.

The tacit understanding they had formed together every day for more than a year allowed them to exchange some information with just a look.

"Is what these people are saying true? Or are they lying to us?"

"It should be true…"

"How are you sure?"

"Please, what would they need to lie for?"

"That's true."

"…"

Nobody cared about the small movements of these people; all their attention was drawn by George's voice.

"Boss, there's a horde of walkers up ahead!"

Interrupting Glenn who was talking, Jason sat up. He looked into the distance; indeed, there was a horde of walkers moving toward them.

"Stop, turn off the engine, we'll wait for them to pass."

Soon, the RV pulled over to the side of the road, everyone immediately lowered the window protection, the engine stopped roaring, and everyone sat without making a sound.

Charon and the others became even more cautious, and even slowed their breathing a lot, fearing that too much air inhaled into their lungs would irritate their trachea and make them cough.

After the horde of walkers passed, the sky was already getting dark. Fortunately, the distance to the central base wasn't much, so in a short time they got in contact with an outpost that let them pass without trouble.

The group finally arrived at the base shortly after nightfall.

The next morning.

You could say that yesterday was an exciting day.

Jason jumped off a building, killed a giant infected, they found survivors, and were finally attacked by other people.

Jason and Abraham were injured. Their wounds were checked after returning. Jason had many stitches on his back and wounds on his ribs so he slept face down.

Even though he could sleep on his back, it wasn't very comfortable, which also caused him to wake up early in the morning.

Putting on his shirt carefully, he reached the front yard, looked at the clean plaza outside and went alone to the second wall of his future city.

The height of more than ten meters allowed him to have a panoramic view of the outside of the base. At this moment, the third wall had been surrounded with containers. You could say that now the third zone had become a place of crops. So besides the four buildings that would be built in the second and first wall, several areas had to be cleared.

Jason was a little excited. After more than a year, he had finally gathered most of the people who would support him in the future in one place and safely; he had also used his time to take Georgia, Atlanta, and in the future, Alabama.

Due to his injury, everyone was strictly forbidden to leave the base, so they could only dedicate themselves to the basic construction of the base.

Looking at this open space, he began planning the use of each place in his mind and couldn't help but fall into deep reflection, but he didn't realize that there was a pair of eyes watching him from afar.

The moment this gaze approached, Jason noticed it and felt the stare rest on him for a few seconds before moving away.

Taking a handkerchief, Jason left it over a hole in the wall, then after a while walked slowly around the wall.

Just after Jason left, a guard approached where he had been and took the handkerchief, which had a note engraved with a simple sentence.

That guard continued working and after unfolding the note saw the content inside: "Eliminate all the obstacles!"
