"Surprised? We can also power up Vemmon! And we don't need any of that emotional crap! All it takes is the press of a button!"
The Vemmon continued scratching at Tyrannomom and Diatrymon. "Don't give up!" Misora said. "We've been through tougher than this!"
"We believe in you guys!" Takuma said. "And we'll never leave your side!"
Diatrymon's eyes snapped open. "Destruction Roar!" He let out a war cry that blew both Vemmon off him and Tyrannomon sending them flying.
"Now Tyrannomom!" Takuma ordered.
Fire glowed in Tyrannomon's mouth. "Fire Breath!" He engulfed both Vemmon in the air with flames. The both of them hit the ground with soot all over them.
"Yeah!" Minoru grinned. "That's how it's done!"
"It's been a long time since you had to fight like that." Takuma said. "But it looks like you haven't lost your touch!"
"If it means protecting you Takuma, we'll always be strong!" Tyrannomom grinned.
The group of thugs snarled. "Okay, then…let's see which is better?! Quality, or quantity!" All of them held up their phones. "Vemmon, Realize!" Lights set off one after the other as more Vemmon appeared. Soon there was a swarm of them everywhere.
"H-huh?!" Minoru gapped.
"There are more of them?!" Takuma gasped.
"Wait...One, two, three..." Minoru started counting the number of Vemmon and the number of humans who summoned them. "Each person should only have one Kemongami partner! How do you guys have so many?!"
One of the teens laughed. "Another flaw of your beasts that we don't need to worry about! We can have as many Vemmon as we want! Now crush them!"
The Vemmon started to swarm Tyrannomon and Diatrymon. The larger Kemongami swatted them away at first, but then one jumped onto Tyrannomon's head. He grabbed it and threw it before another three latched onto him. Diatrymon tried to shake the four on him off but soon both buckled under the combined weight of the Vemmon and dropped to the ground. "Tyrannomon!" Takuma shouted
"An artificial Kemongami?"
Takuma nodded to Aoi as everyone sat at a table eating. "Yeah. It looked and acted like a Kemongami...but the feel it gave off was..."
"On their own they weren't much of a threat." Falcomon said. "The concerning thing is they were able to bring up a large number of them."
"Not that it stopped a certain someone and his team from tearing them apart." Minoru pointed out.
Takumi smiled. "Well, it wasn't our first fight." He looked at Terriermon who's cheeks puffed up as he stuffed them. "Slow down Terriermon, no need to stuff your face so much all at once."
"Yeah, if we were having nuts, I'd suspect you were gonna store them somewhere for the winter." Palmon joked.
"Palmom..." Ami shook her head as Takumi laughed as he wiped Terriermon's face with a napkin.
Aoi smiled. "You two sure are close with your Kemongami. Almost like family."
"Almost"?" Takumi asked. "In my eyes that's exactly what they are. Just as much as Ami is to me."
"Family, huh?" Takuma asked looking at Agumon.
"I'm still amazed that there are people with more then one." Saki said. "I guess you met them while you were living out of Tokyo?"
"Yeah. I won't bore you with the details, but we and some friends of ours moved in recently." Ami explained. "We heard about the J.I.E.S. and thought we could learn more about Kemongami here."
"Friends?" Minoru asked. "Do all of them have Kemongami? Do they all have three each like you?"
"Well, one of them has two." Ami replied. "The others each have one."
"I see..."
Takumi put a hand on his chin. "Those guys from before...no way they created those Vemmon. They were clearly given orders. But from who? And what is their goal?"
"Sounds like we have another case on our hands." Ami replied.
Saki gave her an odd look. "Case?"
"Oh yeah." Takuma spoke. "You mentioned you were detectives."
"Well, we're still training under a detective back home." Takumi replied. "But we solved a few cases on our own."
"What's a detective?" Labramon asked.
"Ya got me." Floramon shrugged.
"Detectives are people who investigate crimes and solve mysteries." Hawkmon replied.
"Not to brag, but we've been working with these two in their detective work as well!" BlackAgumon replied.
"Sounds exciting!" Agumon said.
"Well, I imagine you lot have your work cut out for you if your job is to figure this mystery out." Falcomon replied.
"About that." Takumi stood up. "You four are mostly in charge here, right? In which case I have a request."
"What's that?" Aoi asked.
"We know a few things about Kemongami ourselves. We brought some notes from back home with us. We would like to collaborate with you."
"Really?" Minoru asked.
"Why not? With discrimination against Kemongami and their partners, I feel you guys could use some allies. Especially if they're starting to arm themselves with these Vemmon."
"I mean, I don't see why not, but this feels a bit sudden." Aoi replied. "What's in it for you
