GEMINI.
I'm seriously losing my mind, and slowly!
I have not been able to shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in the pit of my stomach even as I finished my shift because this Percy guy had told me not to leave without seeing him.
I honestly have no idea what his return means.
Swallowing the lump in my throat I glanced back at the entrance of the now closed store as I waited for him, my eyes scanning the empty environment nervously before I spotted him walking towards me with both hands in his pockets. Our eyes met and I shivered from the intensity of his stare.
He's just as intimidating as I remember. His blonde hair gleaming in the fluorescent light making him appear out of this world.
I tried to offer a polite smile when he got to me, his eyes never leaving me. He me gave a slight nod, indicating that I should follow him and I did so without protest, my feet moving of their own accord as he turned and walked back in the direction he'd just come from.
"He's really scary!" I thought to myself, my heart racing in my chest.
When we got to his car my jew almost hit the floor.
I don't know much about cars but this must have cost a fortune! His family must be like really rich! And I mean really, really rich!
And just when I thought the car was the only surprise, i spotted someone else inside.
There was a very beautiful blonde girl sitting in the passenger seat. I had assumed she was his girlfriend, probably the one he got tampons for earlier at first. However as he led me into the back seat of his car, she introduced herself as his twin sister, Penelope.
I took a moment to really look at her, then I saw it. The resemblance between them was uncanny! Their features mirroring each other's like reflections in a mirror. Yet, while Percy's green eyes seemed to bore into my soul, Penelope's sparkled with warmth and friendliness, putting me at ease despite the initial shock of meeting her.
I am still very much confused about why I'm with them right now. But, before I could even take a moment to process what was going on, Penelope's questions came at me like a rapid-fire machine gun, barely giving me time to reply.
"So...Gem! Sorry! Can I call you Gem?" she asked, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. I nodded, and she launched into a flurry of questions, each one tumbling out on the heels of the last.
"Are you in school? Where do you go to school? What's your favorite subject in school? Do you have any pets? What kind of music do you like?"
Umm...what is going on right now?
She didn't seem to care about the fact that I was physically struggling to keep up with her questions, let alone provide answers. Her eyes sparkled with excitement in the dim light of the car. She leaned back into the seat, her face inches from mine, eager for my responses. I felt like I was drowning in a sea of her curiosity.
It was hard to find the right word but I managed to grab onto a lifeline and squeeze in a few words about the fact that I'm in college and my major. Penelope's eyes widened in surprise, and she paused, momentarily stunned into silence.
"Wait, you're not a highschool kid, are you?" she asked, her voice tinged with bewilderment.
I shook my head, and a sheepish grin spread across her face.
"Shit!" she exclaimed, her eyes shone with embarrassment. "I'm so sorry! I just assumed you were a highschool kid. You...you look so young!" Her voice trailed off, and she giggled, clearly entertained by her own mistake.
I couldn't help but laugh, feeling a sense of familiarity with the situation. It wasn't the first time someone had mistaken me for a high school kid since I got here. A lot of people had commented on how young I looked for an eighteen-year-old, and it was starting to become a running joke. I almost couldn't get a part-time job because of my look.
I thought Penelope's expression when she realized I wasn't a highschool kid was funny enough, but I mentioned my school which so happens to be the same one they're attending was even more priceless!
Penelope's expression changed from one of curiosity to one of absolute shock in an instant, and then she paused, momentarily stunned into silence, before her eyes lit up with excitement again.
"No freaking way! We attend St. Moore too!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine excitement.
The air in the car seemed to vibrate with her enthusiasm, and I found myself caught up in her infectious energy.
She's a very bubbly person!
As we continued talking...more like, she talked and I tried to keep up. I learned that she's a second-year student in my school, majoring in fashion design, while her brother is in his third year.
How did that happen?
"And, Oh! Percy's majoring in architecture, just like you!" she added, a hint of pride creeping into her voice. "Honestly, he's so intelligent, he could've chosen to major in any other field and he would still excel." She added sounding really proud of her brother and I could tell she loves him very much.
"Not many people know this," she spoke again bringing me out of my thoughts. "but this isn't Percy's first degree." she revealed making me raise my brows, now I'm definitely intrigued.
"What do you mean?" I asked her, still trying not to let Percy's lingering eyes affect me.
"So, get this! Percy graduated from high school at the age of fourteen." she said glancing back at me and I just looked back not really comprehending her words.
He graduated highschool at fourteen? Wow!
"I mean, I wasn't really surprised when it happened because he'd already been ahead of me in school the whole time, and that's not just the fact that he could do practically anything and still be good at it." She rambled on.
"Anyways, long story short! He studied fashion design while he waited for me to graduate highschool so we would experience Uni together. Yet, somehow he still started school a year before I did so...yeah!"
My eyes widened in utter bewilderment and shock, and I couldn't help but blurt out the first thing that came to my mind.
"Wow! He must be really smart like Einstein or something!"
Penelope giggled, a casual smile spreading across her face. "Einstein had an IQ of 160, sweetie!" she said, her tone matter-of-fact. "Percy's IQ is 180."
My jaw dropped, and I felt my eyes go wide with shock. An IQ of 180? This is insane! I couldn't even begin to wrap my head around it. Penelope just laughed like it was no big deal and continued talking leaving me to reel from the revelation.
Percy, on the other hand, was quiet, observing our interaction through the rearview mirror with an intensity that made me feel like an insect under a microscope. I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking, what was going on behind those piercing eyes.
What does he want with me anyway?
Why is he bringing me along to wherever they were going?
I have so many questions yet I don't even know how to ask them. So, instead of dwelling on things I can not control, I settled into the seat and listened to his sister talk.
At least, it doesn't look like they want to harm me...yet!
