Chapter 17 - Chapter 18: The Day where the Wedding starts

The day before the wedding starts

Elendil immediately wakes up. He thought he was the early one to wake up first, so he got up and rushed toward the living room happily, only to see Neptur sitting down and sipping his coffee while watching tv. Elendil was shocked; he fell to the ground and groaned in defeat.

Elendil: "Dang it... I failed to wake up first."

Angel walked out of the kitchen with some fresh food. He sees Elendil on the floor and tilts his head in confusion. Angel places the tray down on the coffee table.

Neptur: "Hm? Oh... Elendil." smiles

Angel: "Get up, the floor's dirty."

Elendil sighs and gets up, stretching his arms. He sighs again and sits down on the couch.

Elendil: "Dang... Wait! Today is Sylwenna's wedding, right?"

Neptur: nods "It is. You ready? It'll start in the afternoon, 1 p.m." sips his coffee

Elendil: nods immediately "Yes! I'm so excited.. Hehe."

Angel sits on the couch and handed Elendil a plate of food.

Angel: "Eat. You'll starve."

Elendil: "Hm? Wow.. Thank you" grabs the plate and starts eating.

((LOCATION: TOWN. 7:30 am))

Neptur was put in charge of grocery shopping again, while Elendil wandered around the market, thinking about the perfect gift for Sylwenna. Angel stayed close beside him, quietly following.

Elendil's eyes suddenly widened when he spotted a stall full of shiny accessories. He immediately walked toward it, his gaze landing on a silver necklace with a cute little flower.

Elendil: "Hello, how much is this silver one?"

Seller: "Oh? Hello, young man. This one? It costs about 20 silvers."

Elendil froze. That was way too expensive and he didn't even have money yet.

Elendil: "Oh… uh… okay." His voice sounded disappointed.

Seller: "So? Are you going to buy it, kid?"

Elendil: "Uhhh… no thank you. I was just looking."

From a distance, Neptur noticed Elendil trying to buy something. He sighed and handed a bag of groceries to Angel.

Neptur: "Angel, stay here for a second."

Angel nods. Neptur walked towards Elendil.

Neptur: "I'll pay for it."

The seller's eyes widened.

Seller: "Oh? And who are you?"

Neptur: "Oh, uh… I'm his—"

Elendil: "Father!" He said it with a big smile.

Seller: "Father?" The seller looked at them carefully. "Hmm… I'm not going to question it… but okay. That'll be 20 silvers."

Neptur paid, and the seller wrapped the necklace in a small box and handed it to them.

Seller: "Thank you for your purchase! Come again!"

Neptur nodded and gave the box to Elendil. The two began walking back toward Angel.

Neptur: "Father, huh? I didn't expect you to say that."

Elendil: "Well… I don't know." He stopped, not sure how to explain.

Neptur stared at him for a moment, then smiled and gently patted his head. Angel saw Neptur patting Elendil's head.

Neptur: "It's okay. Come on, Angel's waiting."

Elendil nodded. They returned to Angel.

Neptur: "How about you, Angel? Do you want to buy anything?"

Angel: … shakes his head

Neptur nodded in understanding. The three of them headed back to the house to prepare lunch and to get ready for the wedding later that afternoon.

----------

Later the afternoon, 12:00 pm.

The three of them were getting ready. Neptur sat on the couch, tying Angel's hair into a neat ponytail while Angel sat on the floor watching a show on TV.

Neptur: "There you go. All neat and looking very mature. Even though you're still a kid."He smiled.

Angel: "Hmm…" His cheeks turned a little pink.

The phone suddenly rang. Neptur stood up and answered the call. Angel glanced at him, then wondered what Elendil was doing. He got up and walked toward the bedroom.

When he opened the door, he found Elendil struggling to button his shirt.

Elendil: "Huh? AH-!"He startled and almost jumped.

Angel looked at Elendil's shirt, it was completely messed up. He sighed and walked over to him.

Elendil: "Huh? W-what are you doing-… hm?"

Angel quietly started fixing the buttons one by one, then adjusted Elendil's collar. Elendil's eyes widened at how gentle Angel suddenly was.

Elendil: "Uhm… thank you?"

Angel: "…Welcome."He gently patted Elendil's head.

Elendil: froze, wide-eyed. "Uhm…?"

Neptur entered the room.

Neptur: "Guys, where are you-… oh, there you two are. Are you two ready?"

Angel nodded. Elendil stared at Angel for a second, then glanced back at Neptur and smiled before nodding too.

Neptur: "You two wait outside. I just need to prepare something."

Angel walked out of the room.

Neptur: looked at Elendil "Elendil, got everything packed? And your gift?"

Elendil: "I have it in my pocket!"He showed it proudly and grinned.

Neptur: "Good. We don't want to realize something's missing once we arrive at the wedding. Go wait outside with Angel."

Elendil nodded and headed out. He saw Angel waiting by the door. He walked over, visibly excited. Angel could practically feel the excitement radiating off him.

Angel: "About the gift… why are you giving someone a gift at their wedding? We're just going to celebrate."

Elendil: "Hm? Well… it's my first time attending someone's wedding. So I wanted to give something nice on their special day… you know?"

His smile grew wider.

Angel stared at him for a moment, then nodded. The two waited quietly until Neptur finally stepped out and locked the door.

Neptur: "Come on, kids. Let's go before we're late."

The two nodded and followed him.

Once they arrived at the church, everything was crowded with friendly creatures and visitors from different cities and towns.

Elendil: "Wow. So crowded-"

Neptur: "Come on, guys. Our seat is right here."

The two followed Neptur. They all sat down and waited for the wedding to start.

Elendil: "So many people… I didn't know Sylwenna was this popular."

Neptur: "Sylwenna isn't really that social. She hates talking, she's been an introvert even when she was growing up. Maybe her husband is the talkative one, that's why there are so many guests."

Elendil: "Wow… That's cool. I wanna see her husband. I didn't even get a chance to see him last time."

Neptur: smiles "Maybe you'll get your chance now."

Elendil nodded.

---------------

After a few minutes, the bell rang. It was finally starting. Elendil's eyes sparkled with excitement. The pianist began playing a romantic, cozy melody.

Elendil: "Oh, oh! It's starting!" He smiled and tried to get a better look at the door.

The Officiant walked in first, followed by the groom, best man, wedding party, maid/matron of honor, the ring bearer, and the flower girls.

Then, finally, the doors opened, revealing Sylwenna holding a bouquet of lilacs, her favorite flower. Everyone smiled and began taking pictures and videos. She looked beautiful as she walked beside her father.

Elendil: "WOW! That's her? She's so pretty."

(RECOMMENDATION: This scene works beautifully with "Valentine" by Laufey ♡)

Angel nodded in agreement. Neptur smiled proudly. Sylwenna walked down the aisle. Elendil could finally see the groom, smiling so brightly he looked like he might burst into tears. He was a dog creature (Golden Retriever), tall and handsome.

Elendil: "Wow…" claps softly

Sylwenna finally reached the front.

Groom (Abram): "Wow… You're so beautiful." blushes

Sylwenna: "Oh, shut up…" mutters shyly

Abram: "Hahaha!"

The bride and groom knelt in front of the priest.

Priest: "Greetings, honored guests and kindred spirits. Today, under the blessing of the Ancients, we gather to witness the sacred joining of Sylwenna and her chosen partner, Abram.

May their union be guided by light, strengthened by love, and watched over by the guardians of this realm. Let this joyous ceremony begin."

Everyone listened intently. The bride and groom stood up and faced each other.

Priest: "Before the blessings of this realm may be granted, your intentions must be spoken."

Abram: "Uhm… Can I speak now please?" smiles nervously

Priest: "Oh, you may." smiles warmly

Abram took a deep breath, his heart pounding.

Abram: "Sylwenna… I mean… love… From the moment you came into my life, I didn't know what to do. I didn't expect our journey to go this far. Despite the fights and misunderstandings we had, I'm still so grateful you accepted me as your own. I can't believe I get to call you mine now, forever. Before we even got together, I always thought you were a quiet, strong girl—always there to support me as a friend…....And now, today… you're my wife."

Sylwenna: blushes "Right… I think so too…"

The priest smiled at their sincerity.

Priest (to Abram): "Abram, do you stand here of your own free will, choosing Sylwenna as the one your heart has claimed? Do you vow to protect her, honor her, and walk beside her through all trials and triumphs, for as long as your souls endure?"

Abram: "I… do." His tail wagged nonstop.

Priest (to Sylwenna): "And Sylwenna, daughter of the Emris Family, do you stand here of your own free will, choosing him as the one your spirit has accepted? Do you vow to cherish him, trust him, and journey with him through every dawn and dusk that awaits you both?"

Sylwenna: "I do."

Priest:"Now, let your promises be spoken, that all gathered here may witness the devotion of your hearts. Sylwenna and Abram, face one another and join hands."

Abram: "I, Abram, stand before you, Sylwenna, with a heart unshaken. From this day forward, I vow to protect you, cherish you, and speak truth even when the world grows dark. Where you walk, I will walk. Where you rest, I will rest. And wherever destiny leads us, I will choose you again and again."

Sylwenna: "I, Sylwenna, stand before you with a spirit full of trust. I vow to walk beside you in joy and sorrow, in peace and storm.Your strength will be my comfort; your heart will be my home. With every dawn that rises, I will choose you, and I will love you without fear."

Priest: "Bring forth the rings."

A small chubby puppy toddled forward, carrying the rings.

Priest (blessing the rings): "May these rings be blessed by the light of the Ancients. A circle without end,a symbol of love that endures all seasons, and binds two souls in harmony."

Abram placed the ring on Sylwenna's finger.

Priest: "Repeat after me."

Abram:"With this ring, I bind my life to yours. As it encircles your hand, so does my promise encircle your heart."

Sylwenna placed the ring on his finger.

Priest: "Now you, Sylwenna."

Sylwenna: "With this ring, I give you my trust,

my loyalty, and my love. May it remind you that our souls walk as one."

Priest: "By the blessings of the Ancients,

by the witness of all gathered here,

and by the vows you have spoken from the depths of your hearts…"

The priest raised his hands.

Priest: "I now proclaim you bound as husband and wife. May your union be strong, your days be long,

and your love outlast the turning of the seasons.

You may now kiss the bride."

Abram burst into happy tears and pulled Sylwenna close as they kissed. Everyone clapped and cheered loudly.

Priest: "May peace walk beside you,

may joy follow your footsteps,

and may the light of love guide your path.

Go forth together, as partners in this life and beyond."

The bride and groom walked down the aisle together. Everyone cheered and clapped. All the ladies gathered, preparing for the bouquet toss.

Sylwenna threw the bouquet and it landed directly on Angel's head.

Angel: "Ah… huh?"

Elendil: "Huh!? Wow…"

Angel looked confused. Neptur's eyes widened; he quickly took the bouquet from Angel and handed it to a random girl, apologizing.

Angel narrowed his eyes, offended. He thought it was disrespectful.

The celebration continued with games, speeches, food, and dancing.

By the end of the day, everyone took pictures and said their goodbyes.

A perfect, happy ending for Abram and Sylwenna.
